So… Yeah, that was exactly what happened. It turned out that Medina and Bagas were conspiring behind his back, planning to let Sheva hang out together with Anna for at least one day on this beautiful day.
Sheva was in a dilemma right here, not knowing whether he should strangle them both to death for pushing him into this situation without even giving him any preparation or thank them for being the best wingman slash wing-woman for them. Nevertheless, both Sheva and Anna finally agreed on a date—it was just a casual hangout, Anna insisted!—even with them having to stutter a lot before they finally asked each other to go out.
Sheva himself didn't mind this. Hell, if anything, he was delighted to play along, inwardly sending Medina and Bagas two big thumbs-up for their wonderful assist. Even though he had never planned to ask Anna for a date—a scumbag, he was—the boy had to admit that he had been fancying her for quite a long time.
Let's not talk about her looks, because everyone knew that Anna was a top-notch beauty. It was proven already by the ridiculous number of people who simp on her in every broadcast that Bagas held. No, let's talk about the personality that only made Sheva fall for her more.
If Sheva had to describe it, personality-wise, Anna was a slightly less extreme version of Medina. The girl was quite aloof and not good at socializing—even though not bad as Sheva, of course—yet everyone could feel her care whenever she was in the room. She was kind, always ready to help everyone who needed it. Not only that, she was also willing to be friends with anyone without looking down on them. Hell, Anna was even friends with his mother, and their age gap was about 20 years! This definitely gave a 1000-plus point in Sheva's book, as everyone who could treat his mother with care like this would definitely be on his good side.
Also, unlike Medina, who was aloof and stiff, Anna knew how to have fun. With a sister like Claudia and a best friend like Laysa, it was pretty hard for her to stay aloof all the time. So, her personality was not as gloomy as the older woman's, and combined with her beauty, everything added up quite nicely, turning Sheva into one of Anna's biggest simps in real life.
So, yeah, even though Sheva tried to play it cool, the boy had been punching the air inwardly, even sleeping with a huge smile on his face.
The date itself started pretty well. Earlier in the morning, Sheva found the girl had been waiting for him in a small bakery store nearby, eating a croissant and having a cup of coffee for her breakfast. However, that wasn't what caught Sheva's attention. No, the boy was mesmerized by Anna's youthful appearance, and he even had to double-check whether it was truly her or not.
She had her hair tied up in a high ponytail, and she was also wearing short pants with a plain white shirt tucked inside, exposing her bare neck and long legs. Her makeup was quite light, just enough to show her natural beauty. She also wore sporty shoes that made her look fresh and young. Overall, her appearance truly gave a whole summer vibe, and she even had to shout at Sheva to wake the boy up from his daydreaming.
"It is not strange, right?" Anna asked one time while also twirling around, feeling a little bit uncomfortable when Sheva didn't say anything about it. "I mean, it is not often that I wear something like this. Usually, I prefer something more conservative with long pants. But this is not Indonesia, so it would be weird for me to wear something like that in the middle of a summer afternoon, right?"
Yeah, since the majority of people in Indonesia were muslim, it was not often to see women with short pants outside in public areas, even for those who were not muslim. There were a lot of reasons, from being afraid of getting cat-calling, not feeling comfortable enough with the stares and whispers around them, or probably just wanting to respect the muslim community here. Nevertheless, not a lot of women would be brave enough to go out with short pants in Indonesia, and that was why Sheva was so stunned by her sudden appearance.
"No, no, no, nothing wrong with your outfit." Sheva shook his head quickly when he realized that he had been staring at her. "You look very pretty today, different than your usual 'big sister' aura. It is perfect." He sent a thumb-up, making the girl blush red from his praise.
Unfortunately, Sheva was too mesmerized by her youthful appearance, not even noticing that her chosen outfit meant that the girl was planning for a date that involved physical activity. True enough, when Anna dragged him into a place called Taubenloch Gorge, the boy was so close to having a heart attack on the spot.
Well… Honestly, the place itself wasn't that bad. Hell, if anything, he could understand why Anna chose it, as the narrow gorge, the rushing river, and the forest canopy that they had already passed were great for relaxed conversation and feeling 'away' from the city hustle, very suitable for city teens like them who grew up in Jakarta.
The only problem here was that Sheva himself was a weakling, never having any exercise other than what he needed to do for the PE class. The boy didn't even know how or why he had never taken something like this seriously, yet here he was, reaping all of the bad results from his laziness. Coupled with the fact that it was a hike—a small hike, but still a hike, nonetheless—this session suddenly became a torture for Sheva, both mentally and physically.
Right now, he really embarrassed himself in front of Anna. If only he could, Sheva would've wanted to dig a hole and bury himself in it to save himself from the embarrassment, especially when he saw the girl's exasperated look at him. Unfortunately, Sheva didn't really know whether he was capable of digging a deep hole or not, so even in the imaginary world, he was not confident with his own plan.
Fortunately, Anna was really a good girl, encouraging Sheva all the time to keep going without even complaining about him being a weakling. Sheva knew that his being like this definitely ruined the whole date, yet here the girl was, still willing to spend her precious time with him, staying patiently while he tried his best to keep walking.
In the end, they arrived at a small hydro station close to the river, where Anna finally decided that this was a good place to stop and rest. They went for a long chair close to the bridge, and the moment both teenagers sat there, Anna just smiled amusedly when she saw Sheva gulping every drop of water from his tumbler.
"Well, it seems that Bagas is not the only one who needs exercise, right?"
