Road to be the Best Chess Player in the World!

Chapter 264: A One-Week Holiday in Biel

"Come on, Shev! We have only walked for around 1 km, the journey is still long!" Anna said, trying to encourage Sheva to keep going. "Chess players also need good endurance, you know? Come on, just use this chance to stretch your body!"

Behind her, Sheva just grumbled grumpily, not feeling the need to answer her encouragement. Hell, if anything, her words seemed to be a mockery in his ears, as he had to fight for his life to go through this bullshit alone.

"Who…Who in the hell… Think that this is a great idea…" He panted heavily, trying to wipe the sweat that fell from his forehead. "I swear… Those people are a bunch of masochists… I mean… Why in the hell… Would they have this kind of hobby… Instead of just chilling in their comfy room?"

In return, Anna just looked at him exasperatedly, even pausing for a moment from her walk and waiting for Sheva to chase her. Honestly, this was the first time she saw this side of him, and the girl had never expected that Sheva was far from being the fittest person in the room. Hell, the man even panted heavily from just walking for about 1 km, showing how terrible his physical state was.

"Honestly, it seems I know one of the reasons why you and Bagas could be best friends." She said with an amused smile. "You both are quite lazy to move your body around, so you both must be suck at the PE class in high school, right?"

"Just… Shut up…" Sheva grunted once again, somehow feeling regretful that he agreed to do this shit. Inwardly, the boy also cursed both Bagas and Medina, who roped him into this situation without telling him before dropping the bomb. He still remembered the conversation they had yesterday, and if only he weren't so flustered, the boy would notice something amiss with their plan.

—Flashback—

"Say what?" Sheva widened his eyes in surprise when he heard the plan here. "We are going to stay for one more week here before flying together to Chennai?" He asked once again, as if wanting to confirm that his ears didn't deceive him here.

"Yes, I have already talked to Sister Medina and Anna about this, and they agreed with this suggestion." Bagas nodded at Medina who sat on the edge of the bed.

It was the night after the closing ceremony was over, and everyone gathered in the boys' room to celebrate Sheva's achievement. Foods and card games were thrown here, and they all had a great time winding down after such a tense week. At one point, though, Sheva suddenly asked if they were going back home tomorrow, yet somehow, the answer he received was enough to startle the boy.

"Really? You have already talked to everyone but me?" Sheva felt the corner of his mouth twitching, realizing that he had been left out here.

Bagas just grinned innocently, not even blushing or feeling guilty when he revealed this information. Seeing this, Sheva squinted his eyes immediately, somehow feeling something was amiss here. He could also see that the ladies also didn't act quite naturally, and it was clear by now that they were hiding something. Still, since his attention was currently on the matter of their stay here, Sheva decided to ask about this later.

"So, we are going to stay one more week?" Sheva asked once again for confirmation. After getting a nod from Medina, he inquired, "Why? And who will pay for our stay? I mean, it must cost a lot for us to stay here even for one night, right?" Yeah, the hotel they currently lived in was way better and more luxurious compared to the one where Sheva and the others stayed in Reykjavik, and the only reason they could stay here was because Sheva's sponsorship—BNI—had already been ordered far before they went here without even asking about their opinions.

"You have just won 90 million Rupiah, and you still ask that question? How stingy." Bagas murmured mockingly, enough to be heard by the ladies who giggled immediately, yet managed to slip through Sheva's ears like it was nothing. "Well, don't worry about the cost. I have already chatted with Mrs. Dina, and she conveyed a message from that old man that he is very satisfied with your result, so he was willing to grant my small request without hesitation for your reward. Hell, he even paid for my and Sister Medina's stay here, so don't worry about money."

The one whom Bagas called the old man was Wahyu Satyawan, the CEO of BNI, who was also Sheva's main sponsor here. Even though it was outrageous to call a request for a full week's holiday for four people a small request, Sheva didn't find anything strange about it since the man's money would've never run out even for the next four generations.

What shocked Sheva the most, though, was that Mr. Wahyu was willing to spend that much for them. From his research, Sheva knew that Mr. Wahyu's personality was quite stingy, never wanting to waste money on something that didn't benefit him. It was also one of the reasons why the man could stay rich as fuck until now.

So, yeah, it was quite surprising that the man would just waste his money on their holiday here.

'It seems that the old man is really a big fan of chess, huh? He is even willing to spend that much money to reward me, even though I failed to grab the number one spot. Man, rich people are scary…' Sheva muttered, shuddering at the thought of him wasting so much money for nothing like this.

"Anyway, what are we going to do to spend our time here?" He asked, changing the topic. "I mean, we have one week before the Olympiad, right? How about our training?"

"That…. It is a valid concern, but I would only care about this tomorrow night." Medina yawned with a dark bag under her eyes. "I just want to relax for a day before thinking about chess again. Anyway, I have already had a plan for tomorrow, so don't bother me, okay?"

Sheva was dumbfounded when he heard that. It was not often for Medina to leave everyone alone here, as the woman always acted as the adult whose job was supervising the kids during the study tour. It was even stranger to see her winking mysteriously at Anna, whose expression was flat, not showing any hint of emotion. However, before he could ask for anything else, Bagas interrupted him first.

"I will also stay busy editing video for the channel, so don't bother me tomorrow, okay?" The fat boy said. "Just hang out and go for a date, will you? I swear, you both have been dancing around each other for too long, and one of you really needs to take a step up here. I'd better hear good news tomorrow night, okay?"
