North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 553: Autopsy Results_2

Lambert: "I understand. Contact him directly; I'll give you his number."

Jimmy wrote down the number, thanked Lambert, and then hung up the phone. He dialed Priest Horton, and fortunately, Priest Horton didn't have the bad habit of ignoring unknown numbers; he picked up the call.

Jimmy: "Priest Horton, this is FBI Agent Jimmy Yang. We've met twice in Dallas."

Horton: "Jimmy? The Chinese lad?"

Jimmy: "Yes, that's me. You even gave me a Crusader pendant. I'm currently in the New York office."

Horton: "Hmm, Jimmy, what's the matter?"

Jimmy: "Yes, I have an unusual case that I'd like to consult you about. An inmate died this morning, asphyxiated, with internal organ damage from an impact, but there were no abnormalities on his body. Another inmate in the cell next to him was scared to death around the same time. Our surveillance didn't catch anyone making contact with them."

Worried about being directly rejected, Jimmy rushed through the situation in one breath.

After Jimmy finished speaking, Horton was silent for a while before responding, "This kind of situation could indeed be a paranormal event."

Jimmy: "Then could you come and take a look?"

Horton: "I have a lot of things to take care of here. You might need to handle it yourself, or try to get help from the New York diocese. I'm sorry, I can't help you."

Jimmy: "Okay, thank you, Priest Horton."

That was it. Although a professional had confirmed Jimmy's judgment, the fact that he couldn't come to help meant Jimmy was on his own. As for seeking help from the New York diocese as Horton suggested, Jimmy didn't consider it; if he were to seek assistance, it would be from Hughes. Since Lambert was aware of such paranormal situations, Hughes must be too.

This matter was a bit troublesome. Jimmy started his car and headed home. He opened his safe and took out his custom revolver holster, placed his M686 revolver in the safe, and put two Remington 1875s in there. Then he opened a box of .44 Magnum Bullets, loaded the revolvers, and put a small cloth bag with extra bullets on his belt.

He had considered it before: if Roland could use such a gun to kill a demon, Jimmy probably could as well, or at least it could have some effect. Back in Dallas at Tata Town, the resentful spirit that emerged from the river had been shot and killed by Jimmy, even with his ordinary revolver. Now that he had switched to the same model as Roland's revolver, it logically should be even stronger.

Just as he was about to close the safe, Jimmy hesitated. No, he had never used these two guns in actual combat before. Taking them without knowing if they would be effective could be a big problem! He took one out and put it back in the safe, and then took the M686 out again to put in the holster, pocketing some .357 Magnum bullets.

This M686 had been proven effective before, and although he wasn't sure about how effective it was, it was always safe to carry it. Just bringing one of Roland's Remingtons would be enough. If it turned out to be useful, he could carry both next time.

With everything ready, Jimmy closed the safe and drove to the detention center. He bought two burgers and a coffee on the way and munched on them as he walked towards the prison guard room. He needed to examine the surveillance footage again, but this time, he wouldn't just be looking at the monitors outside Dave's cell; he'd check other related areas as well.

The prison guard was very cooperative. Jimmy had visited several times in recent days. As one of the few Chinese agents in the FBI, and especially young, he had made quite an impression. With a case involving a death at the detention center, they needed to solve it quickly to avoid blame.

This time, the prison guard brought over two extra TVs and VCRs. With three videos playing simultaneously, several people sat in front of the TVs to watch, mainly the footage around the time of their deaths. Unfortunately, even without speeding up the footage, they didn't find any signs of people, animals, or anything else on the tapes. Jimmy and several guards checked twice and ultimately had to give up.

The guard took Jimmy to the outside of Dave's cell, "Your people have already been here to collect fingerprints, but we haven't allowed anyone else in."

Jimmy nodded and activated Heart Eye. He was already suspecting a paranormal event, so fingerprints and such didn't mean much to him anymore, and he wasn't too concerned.

The room looked normal. With Heart Eye activated, Jimmy didn't notice anything special in the room. Recalling what he had discovered at the Russian's villa in Long Island, Jimmy went straight to the wall and started inspecting it closely. Finally, he found something slightly different.

There was a patch on the wall where the color had faded slightly from black, only very slightly. If he hadn't been diligently comparing, it would have been hard to notice. The area was approximately a 30*60 irregular oval, resembling a rectangle but without straight edges.

This spot was located above Dave's bed, the only one of its kind. Jimmy checked the other two walls, the ceiling, and the floor to be sure it was the only one. Then he went to the adjacent cell, the one belonging to the inmate who had been scared to death. Here the mark on the wall was not on the bed-adjacent wall, but the opposite one, the same size as the mark in Dave's room. This ruled out an issue with the building of the wall during construction, confirming the marks were likely caused by paranormal phenomena.
