North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 463: 346 Is this the Black Rainbow? Where is the pain?_3

Jimmy put down the knife, washed his hands, and returned to the study. Holding a revolver, he tried to load it again. This time, he focused on controlling his hands. Except for two bullets that dropped out, the other four nestled smoothly into the chamber.

A good sign, Jimmy emptied the bullets again, picked up the two that had fallen to the floor, and started over. After repeating this four times, he finally managed to load all six bullets into the chamber smoothly.

"YES." Jimmy finally figured out what the problem was. The soreness in his movement was real, but it was also due to an apparent increase in his Spiritual Power. Since his body hadn't strengthened accordingly, it led to a delay in his physical response unless he concentrated on controlling his body or relied entirely on muscle memory. Otherwise, any intervention from his mind caused a delayed reaction.

Loading bullets was the same. After practicing a bit more and getting used to the rhythm, that familiar feeling of proficiency returned.

Jimmy activated Heart Eye and began observing his surroundings. The range of Heart Eye seemed to have strengthened as well, giving him a clear view into the neighboring house and significantly improving the previously fuzzy black-gray lines around the edges of objects. They now looked more realistic and matched their actual shapes more closely.

It seems that for the foreseeable future, the most important thing was to train his body. He had to get his body used to his faster-working mind to avoid problems at crucial moments.

Having identified the problem and thought of a solution, Jimmy happily returned to the kitchen to make himself dinner.

-----------------

Early the next morning, Jimmy donned a black suit and arrived at the agency. This time, he went straight to Hughes' meeting room, where he waited for a while. Soon, several people entered: Hughes, Ruiz, and a middle-aged man who looked familiar as if Jimmy had definitely seen him before. They sat opposite Jimmy, while Gordon and Scott, following behind, took seats next to Jimmy.

Hughes, "This is Dave Hudson, the Deputy Executive Director of the New York branch office in Manhattan. Dave, this is Jimmy, the agent from the video." (Hughes is the assistant director in charge of managing field agents, and unlike the office director and deputy director, who are part of the management tier, they don't usually interact with agents like Jimmy.)

Dave, "A great young man, isn't he? Jimmy, regarding that video, we've already discussed it. I need to confirm with you now. What did you say to them when you stopped them for a conversation?"

Jimmy, "Deputy Director, I was accompanying Scott and others to investigate a bomb suspect's warehouse. Scott's team was inside searching for evidence, and I was in charge of guarding the entrance to prevent any incidents. After those gang members showed up, I went to inquire how long they had rented the warehouse. If it was for an extended period, they might know something about the suspect who has been living in the warehouse next door."

"The video is incomplete. It began when someone came out of the warehouse, and I went to ask him. Afterwards, he went back and brought out a lieutenant. They probably thought they could take advantage because I was alone, and that's when the scene in the video happened."

Ruiz gestured for permission to speak and stated, "I obtained the complete video from the T14 gang yesterday. The events leading up match essentially what Jimmy described."

Dave nodded, "So, you were communicating with the people next to the suspect's residence for the bomb investigation, and during the conversation, because of their excessive nervousness thinking you were targeting them, they attacked you first. Is that correct?"

Jimmy, "Yes, Deputy Director, everything was to expedite the case. The bombing is a terrorism-related case, so I must pursue any lead to further the investigation."

Dave looked towards Gordon sitting next to Jimmy, "Agent Gordon, is what Jimmy saying the truth?"

Gordon nodded, "It's true. After they returned, I and Scott's team confirmed it. That's exactly what happened."

Dave tapped the table twice with his double fingers, "Then the matter is settled. It involves a bomb terror attack, and the case takes the highest priority. And as an agent faced with an attack by two and then shot at by four, the ability to neutralize the threat under such circumstances speaks volumes of our field agent's competency.

Hughes, it seems your ability to train new agents hasn't receded one bit. Why not consider teaching at the academy after retirement?"

Dave's earlier righteous talk transitioned to teasing Hughes, which caught Jimmy off guard. Seeing Hughes' face remaining expressionless, there seemed to be a bit of an issue between him and Dave. Shouldn't this banter be met with a shared smile?

Dave stood up and buttoned his suit, "Alright, I'll contact the heads of the news stations, dealing with this from above is much faster than you trying from below. We can't let this go on any further. Jimmy Yang, you are a good kid, well done."

After Dave left the meeting room, the others stood up to see him out briefly, then seated themselves again.

Hughes, "Alright, you all can go back now. Jimmy, Ruiz, you two stay."

Gordon and Scott stood up to leave, patting Jimmy on the back as they passed him. It was clear they were also firmly in support of Jimmy.
