Instigator and Protector of Violence

Chapter 239: A Strange Dinner Party

West and Aine Beize also know each other.

This was completely unexpected for Ethan.

Things inexplicably turned into some kind of Shura field-like atmosphere.

Fortunately, nothing happened that night.

Ethan began to feel relieved.

However, it seemed that Aine Beize didn't want to reveal her identity, so she just said her name was Ain, a pianist, and that she met West at a charity event.

But judging by West's expression, she should know the princess's identity and was just playing along.

So the atmosphere continued to be strange. Originally, Ethan brought two young women for dinner and to chat with Joseph about some details.

Now it turned into a large gathering of six people, with West joining in for the meal.

The atmosphere at the table was quite relaxed. West's ability to run the restaurant showed there were no issues in social interactions; at least it wasn't awkward, and everyone was well taken care of.

While eating Midwestern-style dishes, everyone listened to West talk about why she opened this restaurant and her experiences in the Midwest.

West originally aspired to become a great painter, and went to the Midwest for inspiration. After experiencing the local conditions and customs, her thoughts changed.

She wanted to help some people.

"Ethan, I really like your painting 'Saint Kuanti's Orphan', because I've seen the same look in Moerma, but unfortunately I can't paint it. I want to help them, so I chose to give up painting."

Moerma is a region in the kingdom, known as one of the most famous Native American reservations, and also a synonym for poverty and hardship.

In order to help those Native Americans, especially children, West gave up her identity as an artist and devoted herself to charity work.

She opened this hotel upon her return, hoping to use the money earned to help those people.

Of course, she also wanted to meet more friends and get them involved in this charity work.

This was how she met Princess Aine Beize.

Aine Beize was indeed very enthusiastic about charity, often attending such events. It was said that she also contributed behind the scenes to the recent enactment of the reservation act.

Sofia initially harbored hostility towards Aine Beize, but upon hearing this, she only felt sympathy for the children of Moerma.

At the time, she also initiated an auction for the disaster victims of Saint Kuanti.

"I'd like to join too. I have a lot of spare money, which can be used to help them."

"That's naturally the best. Thank you, Sofia, you are truly a kind person."

West seemed genuinely happy.

And Ethan used the excuse of smoking with Joseph to walk outside.

Finding a secluded corner, the two lit cigarettes.

But Ethan wasn't in the habit of smoking, so he just let it burn between his fingers.

"Isn't she truly beautiful and kind-hearted?"

Joseph was completely enchanted.

"Yes."

Ethan nodded.

"Speaking of which, you truly are exceptional. I heard those guys in Uttahan were beaten to a pulp, and Tefula supposedly couldn't sleep all night in a panic."

Joseph took a deep puff, finally getting to the point.

"Now there's a new problem."

But Ethan shook his head.

"Oh?"

"There's a True Namer of the Earth, known as the Immortal, with very strong power, at least at True Name Level 6. It's quite troublesome, and I might need your help."

"True Name Level 6?"

Joseph rubbed his chin.

"I understand. I can provide someone for you, a War God of Level 5. Just let me know when you need them."

This was exactly what Ethan wanted.

Joseph's deeper roots in the Royal Capital made it necessary to rely on his power at times like these.

With the conversation over and the cigarettes nearly finished,

when they returned to the room, they found the women had bonded so closely that they started calling each other sisters.

Ethan didn't mind and just sat quietly, listening and grabbing a bite.

"Ethan, congratulations on holding another auction."

But before he could say anything, trouble found him.

It was Aine Beize, sincerely congratulating him.

Ethan could only smile and nod, "Yes, thank you."

"Why not donate some money as well? You're quite compassionate, too."

Aine Beize's words were harmless, but her tone had a teasing edge, as if Ethan had wronged her somehow.

Ethan felt a tingling sensation on his scalp, thinking, "Big sister, I didn't do anything that night, everything was your own doing..."

"Of course, I'm also willing to help those kids."

Ethan had to agree, thinking if spending money could avert disaster, it might be worth it.

Wait a minute, what disaster? I didn't do anything...

Sofia, sensing something was amiss, also wanted to help the kids, and quickly turned to Anya, hoping she would say something.

But Anya had never been involved in these matters, and it wasn't possible for her to speak up now.

The next moment, Aine Beize took out a business card and handed it to Ethan: "Here is my card. Your help is crucial, and we can discuss specific matters privately later."

Ethan saw the card was from the Moerma Aid Committee's Executive Director, Ain, and realized the princess really enjoyed role-playing, even moonlighting in such roles.

He could only reach out to accept it.

Sofia opened her mouth wide but didn't know what to say.

Then someone spoke: "No."

This startled everyone, and they looked to the speaker, who was the previously silent Anya.

Anya didn't lose her composure under all the gazes, and calmly said, "The young master's schedule is very busy, and I'm afraid he won't have time to meet with you. For any future matters, you can contact me."

As she said this, Anya reached out to take the card from Ethan.

This scene filled Sofia's eyes with admiration, while Aine Beize just smiled and nodded.

As an outsider, Joseph was trying hard not to laugh and discreetly gave Ethan a thumbs up, not knowing what he was praising him for.

Ethan felt helpless, but also somewhat surprised. Anya was truly beyond normal today, actually speaking up on her own initiative.

Seeing Anya's serious expression, Ethan could only lower his gaze in contemplation.

Before long, the dinner concluded.

Everyone headed home.

Just as Ethan was about to get in the car, West called him, saying the teacher left something in the restaurant for Ethan to take back.

Ethan found it strange but followed to retrieve it.
