Instigator and Protector of Violence

Chapter 238: Four-Person Outing

A night of terror.

In the end, only Vasini and two or three of his men managed to escape back, leaving everyone else behind in Susa's mansion.

Vasini stayed in the Sanctuary all night without coming out.

By the time it was morning, nothing significant had happened outside.

It might be because the slash he dealt last night truly injured Kaster, leaving him unable to pursue.

Regardless, the situation had become dire.

He still didn't know where Kaster came from, but his intuition told him that he must be a member of Uttahan.

If that's the case, Uttahan would regroup.

Plus, with that indestructible monster, the hard-won favorable situation might all be lost.

But it could also be an opportunity.

Originally, with Luca's death, the rapidly ambiguous situation was about to become clear again.

The necessity was to unite and obey his sole command.

After daybreak, he quickly gathered everyone and announced the events of last night, especially the death of Old Kani.

At the meeting, with utmost solemnity and a sorrowful tone, he relayed the news of Old Kani's death.

He spoke of Old Kani's high moral standing, and of how despicable Susa was, launching a sneak attack right during negotiations.

In the end, it was Old Kani who covered his escape to freedom.

Yet Old Kani would remain there forever.

"We must avenge him, my Godfather. This feud is a warning as well; Uttahan has not vanished and is lurking in the shadows, watching us constantly. We must unite firmly!"

Vasini looked at everyone.

Everyone dared not meet his gaze.

The young man, once a drifter at sea, had become a determined leader.

Even people present might harbor doubts in their hearts.

Or simply knew the truth, knowing that last night, Old Kani intended to lead Vasini to his death.

But now it was Old Kani who died, certainly raising questions.

Yet, who would dare speak?

"For the absolute safety of everyone, I hope starting today, you can all stay in the Sanctuary, where I will protect you until Uttahan is completely defeated."

To bind these people tightly to his cause, Vasini had resorted to every means possible.

If Old Kani were still here, he might have been able to offer some advice.

Now, no one spoke.

"If nobody has objections, let's pray together."

Vasini didn't wait for anyone to speak and turned towards the shadows.

He needed to continue praying.

After last night, the deity had temporarily stopped favoring him, which made him somewhat anxious, but he firmly believed in one thing, that the deity would not abandon him.

——————————

In reality, Ethan was asleep.

The exhaustion from last night was still too great, even sleeping until the afternoon of the next day, he still hadn't felt fully recuperated.

After drinking the hand-ground coffee made by Anya, Ethan finally regained some energy.

He also heard the prayers coming from Vasini but chose not to respond for the time being.

Because responding is also a form of exhaustion.

Midway, Jackson called again to discuss the auction, mostly concerning the invitees.

Because Ethan had recently begun networking extensively in the Royal Capital and could even attend the Princess's banquet, something Jackson could not, he wanted Ethan to help make some connections.

"Princess?"

When Ethan recalled the scene from that night, he couldn't help but feel something strange.

"I'll try my best."

If the Princess could attend, the auction would surely attract more nobles, naturally driving prices higher. After hanging up with Jackson, Ethan called Joseph.

"What's up, inviting me for dinner?"

"You should be treating me, tonight."

"No problem, I haven't been there in a few days either."

Although the matters in the South District were his to deal with, since Joseph mentioned it, he couldn't leave him entirely uninvolved.

The difficulty of dealing with the immortal was substantial, needing some assistance.

After setting the time, Ethan still felt tired, so he leaned on the sofa, drinking coffee while enjoying the sea view.

If possible, he might even need to bring that ascetic staff over.

After pondering, Ethan softly whispered a few words to Anya.

This scene happened to be caught by Sofia, who had just woken from her nap. She opened her eyes wide, with a tinge of anger: "What are you two whispering about again?"

"Nothing, just discussing where to have dinner tonight."

Ethan casually deflected.

"Where?"

Sofia continued to press with wide eyes.

"How about having dinner at Senior Sister's place?"

"Sister West?" Sofia pondered for a moment and nodded.

"I like her garden, let's go there, I'll go get changed."

At this point, she seemed to have forgotten everything that had just happened.

Changing is quite a troublesome task for women, and by the time Sofia finished dressing up, it was already towards evening.

Fortunately, Ethan's recent fame had diminished, resulting in fewer reporters waiting to interview him. Otherwise, with Anya evading their pursuit, it would waste more time.

By the time they reached West's secret garden, the sun was already setting.

As Ethan got out of the car, he immediately noticed Joseph's car parked outside, another of those Wieden Pegasuses.

It seemed Joseph had already gone inside.

Ethan couldn't help but shake his head; it seemed Joseph was genuinely enamored by his senior sister.

But upon entering the garden, he realized that things might not be that simple.

For he saw someone else.

"Senior Sister, I've brought someone else today."

Ethan walked in quickly, his tone still warm.

"Ethan..."

Joseph was the first to speak to Ethan, winking at him as though signaling something.

But it was too late; Ethan had already seen her.

Princess, Ainebez.

What's she doing here?

It took Ethan a moment to wrap his head around it.

Especially upon seeing her, the events of that night replayed in his mind.

"..."

"Ah, Ethan, it's you, how do you know about this place?"

Ainebez's face seemed to have reddened slightly, probably thinking of something as well.

Her innate allure accentuated the impression as though sheer beauty was about to materialize.

In the dim garden, it indeed exuded an indescribable charm and ambiguity.

You could almost tell something was amiss between them.

"Ethan, who is this?!"

Sofia was gritting her teeth, clutching Anya's arm.

Although Anya maintained a neutral expression, she also squinted slightly.

What on earth is going on here?

Ethan wanted to look heavenward.
