Reith slowly nodded. It seemed like these two old men just wanted to use him for an experiment.

"However, he did say he didn't want people knowing about a student going free like that. So we'd be giving you a name. That card is applied under your new name which would be your adventurer's identity," Kane explained.

"Would I be able to go on missions?" Reith was more interested in the benefits of something like this.

"Currently, your card only allows you to go on E-class missions. Then, as you level up in skills and techniques, you'd have access to higher bounties and tasks. Honestly, based on what you have shown me, you shouldn't be allowed on missions at all," Kane said, a stiffness appearing on his face. "In fact, you should be a luggage carrier."

And Reith understood. There were so many dangers in the outer areas outside the city and even the regions.

If a student like him died because of that, it would taint the Regional Insignia's reputation.

"Thank you very much, Administrator Kane," Reith smiled.

Kane nodded, straightening the sleeves of his coat. "Is there anything you'd like to know?" he asked with his gaze on the boy.

Reith didn't answer immediately.

He traced the design of the card with his fingers and looked intensely at it.

Suddenly it felt like a weight had settled on him, and his lips became heavy.

Kane must have noticed this change even though it was a slight one. "I'm listening. I'd do my best to help, Sorakaze. So let's hear it." He coaxed.

Reith nodded quickly, biting down on his lips. "Have you heard about someone called Reisa?" He raised his gaze.

Kane frowned slightly.

That name.

"Reisa is… was an orphan. She left my city a while back and she said she needed to find a place to blend in. A place to hide and train herself, because people were chasing after her," Reith quickly said.

Telling someone of his burden made it a lot lighter, but he sincerely hoped Kane wouldn't take him as some sort of madman. One talking about a girl that didn't exist.

"Reisa…" Kane said the name slowly, as if rolling it on his tongue would give him an idea of who they were talking about.

Seeing the hesitation, Reith suddenly felt like a burden.

"It's fine if you don't know her. Thank you for the card. I'd take my leave now," he said and instantly turned around.

But Kane held him by the shoulders.

"When you feel compelled to tell people about your burdens, give them a chance to at least do something before detaching yourself. Even if they are going to disappoint you, give them a chance to do so," he said, looking at Reith with a smile.

Reith was dumbfounded for a moment and then shame filled him.

"I'm sorry," he softly said, bowing down his head.

"It's fine. Yes, I have heard about Reisa. Follow me," Kane said, quickly moving outside the door of the training hall and heading towards the elevator.

Reith rushed after him, and his heart felt like it was exploding into a million pieces.

Reisa was more than someone he met in the orphanage.

She was more than his sister.

Every scar she bore on her body was proof of her shielding him against the cruelty of this world.

She was the one who named a nameless street urchin like him.

"Thank you, Mr. Kane. Thank you so very much," Reith said, sucking in his tears. He would finally get to see her again, and this time it was close.

They arrived at the lobby and Kane got into a conversation with the receptionist.

"Search for a lady named 'Reisa' among the database. No background, and an adventurer," he quickly said with a deep frown on his face.

Seeing this as a chance to finally please her boss, the receptionist got to work.

Clicking on the keyboard, she was done in the next few minutes.

"There's no one with that registered name, Sir. But we did find something strange," she said, turning the screen so they could view it themselves.

"A lady had stepped in four years ago and her adventurer's name was Slayer. We later found out that her teammates called her Reisa and that's the only information we have in her files," the lady explained everything.

Meanwhile, Reith's eyes sparkled at the corner. With such a cool name? There were no doubts that this was his sister.

"What was her element?" he quickly asked, and the both of them looked at him.

Kane nodded. "You heard him. What did the file say?" he asked the lady.

The lady quickly smiled. "She was of the light element, Sir. However, in her file, there were countless witnesses that saw her using the wind element." All information spewed from the receptionist's list.

Then she suddenly reduced her voice.

"Is something wrong?" Kane didn't want to beat about the bush.

"She has been missing for a year, Sir. It was an SSS mission. We only know the details of the location. But there's no way to find out what happened there. Her team never came back."
