SSS GRADE TALENT: Master of the Heavenly Path

Chapter 47: GETTING AN ADVENTURER'S CARD

"Feel free to demolish the place," Kane said, and Reith nodded.

Of course, he wasn't planning to demolish the place.

His hand twitched by his side. He had been wanting to try this technique all day, but now Kane was watching him.

It made the pressure greater than normal.

Raising his hands, Reith gathered Hana, just like he had practiced in his environmental dimension.

It felt like it was building up for a while, and all of a sudden, everything dispersed and the spell broke.

What?

His eyes widened, and he instantly looked at Kane. "I'm sorry, allow me try again."

Kane slightly nodded, his eyes closely monitoring the boy.

Reith swallowed, and then he remembered something. It was the advice Susan had given Peter.

In the environmental dimension, the energy there was tailored to match the element of the technique, but here it was a lot different. He had to make use of normal Hana.

Which meant the only way to fully display his technique was to match the elemental energy.

Reith started again, channeling energy from his Hana reserve into his hand.

However, he was miscalculating it.

Energy from his Hana reserve was pure Hana, which meant it was stronger than elemental Hana energy.

With his determination to please Kane and pass his exams, Reith kept channeling the same amount of energy he had used in the elemental dimension.

"Reith, hold on," Kane wanted to caution him, but Reith had gone too far.

His concentration was on the image of the spell he had formed in his head.

Dark clouds started to form over his head, and they thickened by the second.

"Lightning Whip Strike."

With a blast, power exploded from his hand and a large rod of lightning struck from the cloud.

The massive rod weaved through the air and the intense force blasted its caster backwards.

With a loud bang, the Lightning Whip struck the wall three times before it finally dispersed, leaving a darkened area.

Kane had already moved from his spot, appearing right behind Reith to catch him.

"That was... a lot," he noted, helping the boy stand straight.

For a moment, Reith felt dizzy, just like the time when his energy was depleted.

"You haven't mastered it fully," Kane said when Reith came back to his senses.

"You still have a lot to learn. Why did you use so much energy?" Kane asked, looking at the huge mark on the wall.

Normally, any attacks that crashed on the wall and left a dent would instantly be repaired.

But this one didn't seem like it was going anywhere.

"I'd have the engineers check up with that," he murmured, but Reith heard his words and instantly became gloomy.

"Cough. I'm truly sorry. I thought using all of my Hana would make the effect larger. I really miscalculated." Reith lowered his gaze.

Kane looked at him for a while, and then he chuckled.

Unable to control himself, the man utterly burst out laughing, wiping the tears in his eyes.

"You are a funny kid. SSS talent, right?" Kane grinned, tilting his head. Then he pointed at the mark on the wall. "You shouldn't expect any less. Your talent allows you to gain more comprehension than most at your age," Kane explained.

Reith's mouth formed a circle. He was understanding everything now.

"But I'm still far from controlling my strength. And..." He turned his gaze towards the mark the lightning had made on the floor.

"That wasn't the direction I was going for."

Hearing this, Kane went into another laughing fit. This boy was just too funny. He had never laughed so hard in a long time.

"Wait, you are telling me you channeled so much energy in the wrong direction?"

It kept getting funnier and funnier.

When Kane remembered the boy's serious look after he had fired that attack, he doubled down and held his stomach, especially the confident look on his face during the preparation of the spell.

Reith awkwardly chuckled.

Then something hit Kane. A sudden realization.

"Wait... You didn't have control?" His eyes slowly widened, and he stopped laughing. "What if that thing crashed into me? I can withstand it anyway, but what if?!" He frowned, stabbing his finger towards the boy.

"I'm sorry! So sorry," Reith said, increasing the distance between them.

Kane glared at him for a while, then he relaxed. "Anyways, you came to be an adventurer, right? Would the school allow you?" He said, touching the elephant in the room.

Reith shook his head. "I don't know. There's no rule against it, but I haven't seen anyone do it either."

Kane looked like he was deep in thought. Then he walked out of the room. "Please hold on for me."

With the silence, Reith was able to hear a humming sound. Was it coming from the walls?

He walked towards the walls and rested his palm on it. There was a pulsing sound.

Then he switched. His eyes turned a golden green glow, and then the Hana lines appeared.

"So beautiful."

Reith watched as black Hana lines connected to each other on the wall, forming a web of lines, and each of them pulsed in different ways.

It meant these Clover Stones packed a lot of power, and from what he could tell, they were proving to be quite useful.

"They absorb the energy from each attack," Kane's voice echoed in the room when he appeared. He had previously seen the way Reith looked at those walls. "Or I think that's what it does. Did you find something new?" Kane asked.

He knew this youngster was full of surprises, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he actually found something in those stones.

"I like the design," Reith honestly said, and smiled at Kane.

Nodding his head, Kane reached out his hand, handing out a white card.

When Reith delayed in taking it, Kane moved closer and placed it on his hand.

It was a smooth yet thin card, with silver lines glowing on it. A small chip sparkled by the corner, and the emblem of the Azure Region was drawn in the middle.

"Wow."

In that single word was the expression of Reith's surprise.

There was a black strip at the bottom, and Reith saw a written name with glowing white letters.

"It's an adventurer's card."
