SSS GRADE TALENT: Master of the Heavenly Path

Chapter 49: A NEW ELEMENT

A cold wave went through Reith when he heard those words.

Her team never came back.

Which meant it wasn't just Reisa that had gone missing, it was all the members of her team.

This would mean that the family members of those people were also looking for them.

"Are you sure about this?" Reith came forward. Although his intention wasn't bad, his tone gave the impression that he was challenging the Alliance's database.

His sudden intrusion instantly made the receptionist frown.

"I'm sorry but I'm not obliged to reply to you," she said in a stiff tone.

Hearing that, Reith suddenly understood his mistake, and he apologized.

"I'm sorry."

Kane watched the exchange but his mind was somewhere else. During the role transfer, the former administrator was meant to inform the successor of every report that was made.

This was where he had heard of that name, but he never knew they had gone missing, which was a different scenario entirely.

"Transfer the details of that file to my Dmail," Kane spoke to the receptionist, and then he looked at Reith.

"Also, register him under the name 'Kion'. He's a new adventurer. Please take care of him for me," Kane added, flashing a slight smile.

Seeing that look on his face, the receptionist quickly forgot about Reith overstepping, and she eagerly collected the card.

"Okay Sir, I'll do my best," she said, and instantly went to work on her computer.

Seeing that she was busy, Kane pulled Reith to a corner.

"Focus on your studies, Reith. I'll do my best to find your sister. If she was an adventurer of the Alliance Company, then she is our responsibility. Since she is your sister, she is now my responsibility." Kane placed his hand around Reith, with a funny grin.

Hearing Kane's words, Reith felt warmth, and then it was like a heavy weight was lifted off his shoulders.

"Thank you Master Kane," Reith smiled, and then Kane slapped him on his back.

"You should get back to school, and then come back to find the right team for you. Also, you never told me why you wanted to become an adventurer," Kane asked.

Reith stiffened. "I plan to get more experience," he uttered, not wanting to reveal anything else.

Although Kane appeared believable, it was best not to get other people caught up in his own issues.

Then he turned around, and bowed down. "I'm afraid I have taken too much of your time, so I'll be leaving for school soon."

He raised his head after speaking and Kane could only nod.

After all, the guy here was a student.

"You can go."

Moments later, Reith walked out of the Alliance building, and he donned his previous outfit, covering most of his face.

His eyes went to the card in his hand and he just couldn't help but admire it.

"Kion," Reith muttered to himself. This was going to be his adventurer's identity.

Apart from the card, another thing that troubled his mind was the knowledge he had just gotten about Reisa.

Why didn't the Alliance make a notice concerning the missing team? And why did it have to be buried for so long?

It was the reason why he couldn't trust Kane.

Or anyone from the Alliance at the moment, at least not yet.

"But I wouldn't be able to get that mission," Reith told himself.

A mission like that would probably be rated higher than normal.

Reith sighed. During his childhood days with Reisa, she was never the one to go through something if it was without benefits.

All her actions, all her plans, every move she made was because it benefited her and the people she loved.

So why would she willingly step into a mission knowing that it could kill her?

"She's not dead yet, Reith. Stop saying that." Reith slapped both of his hands on his cheeks.

Reisa wasn't dead yet and he was going to find her, even if it killed him.

Moments later, he passed through the gate, carefully looking around and hoping no one would see him.

"So that's where you have been." A voice instantly jolted Reith, causing him to flinch in his steps.

Reith turned around, raising his head. "Isho, it's not what you think." He had recognized the voice, but now a feeling of shame gripped him.

"Where did you go?" Isho frowned slightly. "You know you were almost kidnapped the last time. You need to stay put in the academy. It's dangerous for you out there."

Frustration leaked out of Isho's voice.

Frustration that he wasn't strong enough to protect his friend.

Frustration that anything could happen to Reith and there would be nothing he could do about it other than rely on others.

"Isho," Reith started. "I said it's fine. It was just important, that's all," he said.

Seeing that the reaction on Isho's face was unchanging, Reith continued speaking.

"The Regional Insignia knew of my location and I was in great hands, so I'm sorry I didn't come to see your move."

Isho sighed. "Do you have a technique now?" he asked, completely changing the topic.

Reith didn't know where this was coming from but he answered.

"Yes, I do. But I haven't mastered it," he said.

Isho nodded. "That's fine. I thought you had none and I wanted us to head to the gold archive and get you one. My allowance arrived today."

He explained, and Reith grinned from ear to ear.

"Thank you Isho, I'm fine really but I'd like to see your technique," Reith spoke.

Hearing Reith's request, Isho's mood lightened up and they walked to the practice arena room.

"I don't think–" Reith was about to tell Isho that he couldn't afford it, but Isho simply swiped his card and dragged Reith inside with him.

"Okay, it's actually a more different element than my family's original element," Isho explained.

"What element is that?" Reith asked, raising his brows.

Isho's family used the water element if he remembered correctly, and some of them used the earth element technique also.

Reith had seen these people practice when he visited Isho one time.

Isho's elder brother was entirely on a different level and he used both water and earth elemental attacks.

Isho's eyes lit up. "I have the light element."
