Volume 12 - Yomi-no-kuni: Chapter 161 – Powerful Imperial Princess
“Sister Ayaka!” Lily called out, immediately sensing a change in her aura. She had ascended to the Celestial Stage!
Since parting ways in the cliffs of the Boundless Abyss, Ayaka had vanished without a trace. Lily had spent that time in deep worry, unsure of her fate. But now, not only had Ayaka returned—she had reached the Celestial Stage.
More abyssal demons surged toward them, accompanied by eerie, glowing demonic spirits in the distance that unleashed volleys of chaotic spells.
“Everyone—leave this to me,” Ayaka said calmly.
With a serene and detached gaze, Ayaka began to dance. The Heavenly Charm Bell fragmented into smaller bells, affixing themselves to her wrists and ankles. Each movement of her graceful body rang out with delicate, enchanting chimes.
Ethereal music drifted through the gloom of the Boundless Abyss as ripples of energy flowed from her movements. The sound bewitched not only the approaching abyssal demons but also the distant crowd of onlooking fiends.
Ordinarily, Ayaka’s dance could only affect beings within a small radius. But empowered by the Heavenly Charm Bell, her performance projected outward, visible and felt even from hundreds of kilometers away.
The dance affected the demons in varying degrees—many fell into a trance, their minds clouded by sudden desire. Even the mighty abyssal demon gods became dazed, forgetting their commands as they stared in rapture.
Lily and her allies also felt the influence of Ayaka’s bell chimes. But for them, it wasn’t confusion or lust—it was warmth and clarity. Waves of divine energy washed over them, sharpening their minds, strengthening their bodies, and enhancing their combat prowess.
Still, the charm had its limits. Demons and spirits not driven by base desires remained largely unaffected, maintaining clarity amidst the chaos.
From the shadows, a colossal demonic spirit—its black body etched with glowing runes—emerged and lunged at Ayaka, jaws wide and filled with rows of eldritch fangs. In a blur, Rei soared upward and cleaved it cleanly in half with a single swing of her blade.
Rei, too, had noticed how the Boundless Imperial Princess bore an uncanny resemblance to Shimizu. Rather than speak aloud, she sent her thoughts directly to Lily. “Lily… this Imperial Princess—she’s far too strong. But who is she really? What’s her connection to Shimizu?”
“I… I don’t know,” Lily replied. “But whatever you do, don’t confront her head-on. Please—be careful!”
Even as she spoke, Lily kept a wary eye on the two Supreme Gods nearby. Though dulled by Ayaka’s charm, they forced themselves to act—albeit sluggishly. Lily narrowly avoided a strike and countered with a slash that grazed one’s hand. He was among the weaker Supreme Gods in terms of power, but his defenses were formidable. Her blow left only a shallow wound.
But the demon soon realized his wound wasn’t healing. Alarmed, he backed away. Clearly, these ancient demons weren’t truly loyal to the Imperial Princess—their alliance was tenuous at best.
Recognizing the lingering effects of Ayaka’s dance and the Heavenly Charm Bell, they retreated, unwilling to risk further damage. They withdrew several kilometers from the Rinraku Stage, waiting for a better opportunity to strike.
Bound by duty—and seduced by Ayaka’s overwhelming allure—they didn’t abandon their mission. But unwilling to waste divine energy in their current state, they chose to bide their time from afar.
With the Heavenly Charm Bell amplifying her power, Ayaka’s dance grew even more captivating. Her graceful, mature figure and the semi-transparent Celestial Maiden coat made each motion deeply sensual. Embarrassed, her face flushed red, yet her performance stirred the air with a subtle, intoxicating scent. The effect was immediate—demons below fell into a deeper frenzy, some even turning on each other in madness.
Even Lily, despite her resolve, found herself nearly entranced by Ayaka’s seductive rhythm.
“Sister Ayaka? You… You’ve reached the Celestial Stage? Your dance is incredible…” Lily sent a voice transmission, her cheeks flushed with admiration. Seeing Ayaka’s growth filled her with both relief and renewed hope.
Ayaka clearly basked in the praise, her movements growing even more enchanting, her figure more radiant. Yet to the surrounding demons, her presence held not just allure, but a sense of unreachable nobility and sacredness.
In that instant, chaos swept through the crowd. Even the elite Dark Celestial Maidens couldn’t resist the influence of Ayaka’s bewitching dance.
Empowered by both Ayaka’s dance and Queen Kaguya’s divine blessings, Rakshasa-Onna, Asura-Onna, Chiya, and the others found their strength renewed. They now held their ground against the eight raging dark tentacles.
“Useless, all of you!” the Boundless Imperial Princess snarled before vanishing into a streak of black shadow.
In the blink of an eye, she reappeared beside Rakshasa-Onna.
“This is bad!” Rakshasa-Onna cried out as she and Asura-Onna sprang into action to intercept the Boundless Imperial Princess.
The Imperial Princess drew her blade in a swift arc, unleashing a wave of dark energy that hurled both sisters backward with explosive force.
In a flash, the Imperial Princess appeared above Rakshasa-Onna and drove her heel down with brutal force. Rakshasa-Onna was sent crashing into the Rinraku Stage like a falling star, leaving behind a crater—but the ancient platform held firm.
The Imperial Princess raised her blade, parrying the strikes from Asura-Onna and Chiya with ease. In a sudden twist, she slammed her scabbard into Chiya’s abdomen—targeting the Spirit Palace, a core point of energy in any female expert.
Chiya gasped as her inner energy collapsed, her Spirit Sea thrown into disarray. Before she could recover, the Imperial Princess reappeared behind her and struck her lower back with the scabbard, sending her hurtling across the air and crashing into the stage.
Asura-Onna tried to retreat, but the Imperial Princess was faster. She seized her by the hair, tearing open the back of her kimono and exposing her bare shoulders. With a vicious twist, she wrenched the sword from Asura-Onna’s grip.
Tendrils of dark energy coiled around Asura-Onna’s arms, binding them tightly behind her. The Imperial Princess snatched her scabbard and, in a cruel display, forced it into her mouth.
“How dare you challenge me? You fools are far too naive.” The Imperial Princess placed her hand on Asura-Onna’s chest and pressed down harshly—in full view of the stunned demon audience.
“Hmph, there’s barely anything here. Nowhere near as good as Lily.”
She tossed the bound Asura-Onna aside like discarded trash.
“Sister!” Fury surged in Rakshasa-Onna as she witnessed her sibling’s humiliation. Rising to her feet, she summoned six afterimages of purplish-blue Vengeful energy, each radiating immense power, and charged directly at the Imperial Princess.
“Scatter,” the Imperial Princess whispered coldly, sheathing her blade. Her dark energy condensed into countless piercing needles that burst forth with a screech, tearing through the Vengeful energy and dispersing it instantly.
Two massive dark tentacles lashed out and struck Rakshasa-Onna cleanly, sending her crashing into the ground with thunderous force.
