Demon Sword Maiden

Volume 12 - Yomi-no-kuni: Chapter 160 – Chaos

“Queen Kaguya?” The Imperial Princess’ gaze darkened. Ignoring Rei, she shifted her focus to Kaguya, who stood on a nearby platform. It was she who had cast the spells that sent the two Dark Celestial Maidens flying.

A sharp burst of blade energy, subtle yet precise, cut through the air. Despite lacking brute force, it effortlessly shattered the metal chains—restraints strong enough to bind even a Supreme God. Rei’s sword had sliced through them with ease.

“What?” The Boundless Imperial Princess’ eyes widened in genuine surprise.

Now that one of her legs was free, Lily quickly adjusted herself, ensuring she no longer remained exposed before the watching demons.

“Sister Uesugi!”

Without hesitation, Rei leapt into action. Her blade swept through the air with practiced grace, severing the remaining chains that held Lily in place.

Though the chains were shattered and the Dark Celestial Maidens were cast aside in confusion, the two Supreme Gods standing guard remained unmoved and untouched.

Rei and Lily landed side by side.

“Sister Uesugi… You—why are you here?”

Rei stepped protectively in front of Lily. “How are you holding up, Lily? Do you have enough strength to fight?”

Lily unsheathed Oborozuki Muramasa with a steely resolve. Rei’s sudden arrival had startled her, but there was no time to process it. She had to fight—side by side with her sister.

Besides, Lily had already seen figures like Queen Kaguya and Rakshasa-Onna among the crowd.

The Imperial Princess studied Rei and her sword with growing curiosity. “How can she resemble her so much…? A mere Big Dipper cut through those chains with ease. Could that blade be… the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi?”

Her eyes lit with recognition. “Seize that woman’s sword! Be careful—that blade is dangerously sharp. Don’t confront it directly!”

Two Dark Celestial Maidens soared into the air, each leading a squad as they charged toward the Rinraku Stage.

The two Supreme Gods stationed near Lily made the first move. One brandished a dull-gold battleaxe, the other a pitch-black divine hammer. Their massive forms thundered forward with stomping force, releasing an oppressive aura so intense that it drove Rei to her knees. She couldn’t even lift her weapon.

Just then, soft beams of radiant light descended upon Lily’s body. They were Queen Kaguya’s divine blessings.

A surge of strength coursed through Lily. Her body, already close to the level of a lesser Supreme God, was now significantly enhanced. She swung Oborozuki Muramasa, unleashing a wave of silver blade energy that struck the Supreme God wielding the battleaxe—staggering him for an instant.

At the same time, two beams of energy—one crimson, one violet—crashed into the Supreme God with the warhammer. It was the combined strike of Rakshasa-Onna and Asura-Onna, powerful enough to drive the demon god a few steps back.

“Boundless Imperial Princess, do you really think we’ll stand by while you bully and abuse Lyn-hime?” Asura-Onna shouted. “No matter what’s happened, she is still the Princess of Yomi-no-kuni! With everything you’ve done, do you even honor the Madam anymore? Call off your forces—now!”

Before Asura-Onna could finish, Chiya and Queen Kaguya rose into the air and descended onto the Rinraku Stage. They took their positions beside Lily, prepared to fight at her side.

At this point, any prior disagreements between Asura-Onna and the others had become meaningless.

At that same moment, Lord Umashi leapt toward the three Thunder Gods. The group had long since agreed to act in unison when the right opportunity presented itself—and that time had come.

“Brother Wakarai, what… what is happening?” Umashi asked, bewildered. “Wasn’t the Boundless Imperial Princess supposed to marry Lily to cement her rule over Yomi? Why turn on her like this? And… what do we do now?”

Wakarai furrowed his brow. “I don’t know what happened between them. Seems like they’ve turned on each other. Let’s hold off for now. As long as Lily stays in our line of sight, we can wait and see how this plays out.”

Most of the other major factions and powerhouses eyeing Lily reached a similar conclusion, choosing to observe rather than interfere.

“Asura-Onna, Rakshasa-Onna—you little girls are nothing to me. Leave now, or I might just harm the Madam’s precious confidants myself!” The Boundless Imperial Princess snarled, unleashing a wave of terrifying dark energy.

Above the Rinraku Stage, a legion of Dark Celestial Maidens assembled in the air, mounted on eerie, glowing abyssal beasts. In moments, Lily and her allies were completely surrounded.

“Boundless Imperial Princess, we owe everything to the Madam!” Asura-Onna declared, her voice fierce. “We will defend her honor with our lives. Lily is the Madam’s goddaughter and the Princess of Yomi-no-kuni. If you no longer wish to marry her, then cancel the wedding—but we will not allow you to treat her like this!”

“Silence!” the Boundless Imperial Princess roared, her voice trembling with fury. “Kagami Lily is the only woman I’ve ever loved—after thousands of years of solitude in the Boundless Abyss! And yet… she betrayed me. She humiliated me! I will kill her with my own hands!”

“Betrayed you?” Lily said coldly. “The moment you forced me to consume the Fragrance-Breaker Pill, any notion of betrayal between us ceased to matter.”

The mention of the Fragrance-Breaker Pill struck like thunder. Queen Kaguya, Asura-Onna, and Rakshasa-Onna stared at Lily in stunned disbelief. Even the surrounding demons fell silent, shocked by the revelation.

“If you had just agreed to be mine, the Fragrance-Breaker Pill would’ve only enhanced your power!” she shouted. “As long as you remained loyal, I would’ve given you everything!”

“Be your woman?” Lily shouted back, defiant. “You’ve relied on cruelty and coercion to break me into submission. What right do you have to speak of betrayal?”

“Shut your mouth, you slanderous wretch!” the Boundless Imperial Princess screamed. Dark energy erupted around her as she lunged toward the Rinraku Stage. With a flick of her sleeves, she summoned two enormous black tentacles—each several kilometers long—lashing them toward Lily.

“This is bad!” Rakshasa-Onna cried out.

Queen Kaguya swiftly raised her golden jade branch, casting divine blessings over the defenders. Empowered by Kaguya’s blessings, Asura-Onna and Rakshasa-Onna drew their blades and charged toward the oncoming tentacles.

Their blades clashed with the massive tentacles, emitting flashes of purplish-blue and crimson energy. Strengthened by divine power, their techniques burned brighter with vengeance as they met the monstrous force head-on—and held their ground.

The tentacles lashed violently across the sky with devastating force. One unfortunate demon, a warrior of the Infernal Stage, was caught in their path. Unable to react in time, he was struck midair and cleaved in two, his body falling in lifeless halves.

Rakshasa-Onna and Asura-Onna moved with lightning speed, flipping and teleporting through the air as they engaged the writhing tentacles in fierce combat.

“Yachujo.”

The Boundless Imperial Princess drew her black blade a mere inch from its sheath—then sealed it again. Instantly, a wave of oppressive energy erupted, and six more colossal tentacles materialized behind her. Now eight in total, each one spanned tens of kilometers. Even Infernal Archdemons caught in their path would be annihilated without a trace.

The eight dark tentacles surged toward Rakshasa-Onna and Asura-Onna, filling the sky with oppressive waves of dark energy.

“This is bad!” Asura-Onna exclaimed, bracing herself.

They had been able to handle a single tentacle each, but with eight now striking at once, the pressure became overwhelming.

Chiya leapt into the air, joining the fight and helping intercept the rampaging tentacles alongside the two sisters.

From the rear, Queen Kaguya unleashed a flurry of divine spells aimed at the writhing tentacles, offering much-needed support. Yet even with four Supreme Gods working together, the dark power bearing down on them threatened to break their defense at any moment.

With a thunderous roar, the two Supreme Gods overseeing Lily launched another assault.

Meanwhile, several Dark Celestial Maidens descended onto the Rinraku Stage, forming a tightening ring around Lily and her allies.

With the three Supreme Gods preoccupied by the tentacles above, they were unable to provide any support on the ground.

One of the Supreme Gods swung his massive battleaxe toward Lily, but the crushing pressure failed to slow her. She dodged with phantom-like speed, slipping just out of reach.

The axe smashed into the stage, splintering the ancient wood beneath—a floor once as resilient as a spirit artifact.

Lily sidestepped the demon god and swung Oborozuki Muramasa in one fluid motion. A silver-white arc of energy sliced across the demon’s massive torso, carving a deep wound that spilled thick, dark-infused blood. The injury struggled to mend itself.

The demon god retaliated, swinging his axe again with immense force. Lily met the strike head-on with her blade, the impact sending her flying backward through the air.

The second Supreme God brought his massive hammer down behind her, timing the strike with brutal precision. Lily twisted midair to narrowly evade the blow, but the trailing shockwave from the divine hammer caught her and hurled her down.

She crashed hard into the floor, shaking the stage with the impact.

“Lynne!” Queen Kaguya called out, her voice laced with concern.

But Lily quickly rose from the shattered floorboards. “I’m fine,” she said, steadying herself.

Though her strength was no match for either Supreme God, the aftershocks of their attacks did little damage. Her body had become incredibly resilient—perhaps even tougher than that of a typical Supreme God. Becoming a true woman had not only nullified the effects of the Fragrance-Breaker Pill but had also fortified her physical form beyond expectation.

“Lynne, is that silver-haired woman also your sister?” Queen Kaguya asked, glancing at Rei.

“Yes, that’s Sister Uesugi—my comrade in battle from the mortal realm!”

Queen Kaguya’s heart stirred with complex emotion. ‘She came all this way from the mortal realm for Lynne alone… Such unwavering resolve.’

She raised her hand and cast a series of divine blessings over Rei.

Empowered by the blessings, Rei’s strength surged to that of a Celestial Stage warrior. She now stood her ground against multiple Dark Celestial Maidens at once. At that moment, Renka and Isshiki joined her, helping to push back the encroaching enemy force.

Blow after blow struck Rakshasa-Onna and Asura-Onna, sending them crashing into the ground. They coughed blood as they struggled to rise, glaring furiously at the writhing black tentacles overhead.

Chiya, unable to withstand the relentless assault on her own, finally faltered and fell from the sky, narrowly avoiding a fatal strike.

“Damn it… How is the Boundless Imperial Princess this strong?” Chiya muttered. The moment she engaged, she realized the truth—this woman’s strength far exceeded that of an ordinary Supreme God. No wonder even the Madam feared her.

She was no ordinary Supreme God—she stood at the peak, a half-step away from becoming a Great Imperial God. And Chiya hadn’t even clashed with her directly.

Yachujo, that dreadful dark ability, alone was enough to overpower three enhanced Supreme Gods.

High above, the Boundless Imperial Princess hovered in midair, her black robes billowing ominously. She gazed down at her opponents with a cold, knowing smile.

Now, in addition to the two squads of Dark Celestial Maidens, waves of abyssal demon gods stormed the Rinraku Stage. Renka, Isshiki, and Rei found themselves locked in a fierce and grueling fight.

“Lily!” A clear voice rang out. Ayaka and Nanako approached swiftly, carried by a graceful wind.

Ayaka raised her weapon, summoning a storm of white lotus blossoms. The petals transformed into countless blades that rained down on the approaching abyssal demons and Dark Celestial Maidens. Many Big Dipper-level demons fell under the assault, while the maidens were forced into a defensive retreat.

“Sister Ayaka?” Lily hadn’t expected Rei’s appearance—and Ayaka’s return came as another welcome shock. She had ventured off alone to seek a breakthrough, and now she had returned just in time.

Ayaka landed gracefully at Lily’s side, casting a contemptuous glare at the abyssal demons surrounding them. Then, she drew forth her divine artifact—the Heavenly Charm Bell.
