Gong Rong’s expression didn’t change even after being called a beast. He acted as if they weren’t talking about him at all.

“Mom, don’t worry. I’ll figure something out,” Ning Shu said, trying to soothe her.

Going around insisting she was innocent, not a murderer, would be pointless at this stage. It would just be walking into a trap.

What she needed was for Gong Rong to appear in public himself.

Ning Shu gave a short laugh. “One day, you’ll taste the pain of helplessness yourself.”

Gong Rong simply smiled faintly and emotionlessly.

Because of the situation, Mother Xu rarely went out anymore. She’d stocked the motel room with supplies instead.

With little else to do, Ning Shu watched TV. After all, Mother Xu already knew everything now.

She flipped through the channels until she landed on a finance news program.

The screen showed a woman being carried onto a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.

The woman’s face had been clearly captured. It was Gong Fu.

Gong Rong, who was sitting on the bed, jolted violently and stared at the screen. He glued his eyes to it.

His already pale face turned even whiter. His body froze as if struck by lightning.

The reporter explained that the SR Conglomerate’s acting head had suddenly vomited blood and collapsed during a meeting.

Ning Shu curled her lips. Finally, it had come.

She’d like to see if Gong Rong could still stay put after this.

He was closing his eyes and steadying himself.

But deep down, Gong Rong had doubts—maybe that little devil Gong Fu was putting on an act, deliberately baiting him into showing up.

If that were the case, he’d wait and see.
