Chapter 605 - Jin Chi’s Family

Chapter 605: Jin Chi’s Family

His answer delighted Jin Chi.

“I’ll bring my son at once.” Jin Chi couldn’t wait anymore. To his disappointment, Lin Jin stopped him immediately.

“From your earlier statement, it seems like we’re not in that much of a hurry. Since Your son’s injuries have yet to heal, it’s best not to move him around too much. Why don’t we wait a little longer? After the ceremony is over, I will make a personal visit.”

Unable to refute Curator’s suggestion, Jin Chi could only nod along. Despite his anxiousness, a few years had passed since the incident so there was indeed no need to rush things.

Seeing how leisurely Curator was, it seems that hope was really just around the corner.

With this in mind, Jin Chi could no longer stay calm. The rest of the ceremony had been an agonizing wait for him.

Fortunately, everything went smoothly.

No one came looking for trouble, because if they did, forget the many powerful monsters here, Jin Chi would never allow it.

Whoever tried to disturb the process here would be slaughtered by him.

Since this was a monster sect, there weren’t too many complex traditions required. The process was simple, and the main event was the post-ceremony feast. The cave was at its liveliest when the time to eat came.

Aware of Jin Chi’s anxiety, Lin Jin merely gave a toast at the start of the banquet before asking Jin Chi to lead the way. They would go and see Jin Chi Jr. now.

Jin Chi was most delighted. Tiger Taoist wanted to come too but was held back by Lin Jin.

As today was the founding day of Dark Wind Monster Sect, someone had to stay and play host.

If Tiger Taoist came along, who would tend to the guests?

Also, to avoid being exposed, Lin Jin had to bring his clone along. Only with that arrangement would the risk be kept at a minimum.

“Curator, Brother Lin, please get onto my back.”

Once outside, Jin Chi reverted back into his large roc form. His massive stature was simply breathtaking.

Lin Jin was fortunate to be experienced enough to keep his composure. After leaping onto Jin Chi’s back, the mighty roc began flapping his wings.

They swiftly left Dark Wind Cave. According to Lin Jin’s calculation, they were covering a thousand miles with each flap of his wings. After about three flaps of his wings, they arrived at a huge cliff.

“Amazing!”

It was Lin Jin’s first time meeting such a fast creature. In fact, Jin Chi was the fastest flying creature he had ever come across.

No one could even compare to his speed.

A Rank 6 monster was incredible after all.

This cliff housed Jin Chi’s cave. There was a huge entrance on the wall and many eagle beasts could be seen flying around. At the sight of Jin Chi, they quickly gathered around to bow at him.

Jin Chi invited Curator and Lin Jin inside the cave where they were then greeted by a fair lady with a dense monster aura.

“Come, Darling. Greet Curator, and this is my sworn brother, Little Brother Lin,” said Jin Chi to the woman.

This must be Jin Chi’s wife.

Just one glance was enough to tell Lin Jin that Mrs. Jin Chi wasn’t weak either. She was Rank 5 and only slightly inferior to Jin Chi.

Arid Continent did have many monsters after all. Not only did they have a Dark Wind Cave, but they also had a Jin Chi Cliff.

How amazing!

Being a well-mannered woman, Mrs. Jin Chi stepped forward and saluted their guests. When she heard that Curator was here to treat her only son, Mrs. Jin Chi immediately fell to her knees in excitement.

“If Curator can save my son, I’m willing to do anything to repay your kindness.” Mrs. Jin Chi’s sincerity tempted Jin Chi to get down on his knees as well.

Lin Jin immediately helped them up, but Jin Chi said, “Curator, please do not mind us. Brother Lin and I are brothers so you are also my master. It is only right for a disciple to greet his master with such humility.”

Lin Jin could only smile on the inside. He couldn’t comment on a parent’s selfless love after all.

Soon, Lin Jin met Jin Chi Jir.

He was a golden-winged bird and due to his heavy injuries, he couldn’t maintain his human form.

Jin Chi Jr. was by no means small, but he definitely would have appeared larger if he did not shed half of his feathers. It made him appear sickly as if he was on the verge of death.

Just one look and Lin Jin frowned.

This case was more challenging than he thought.

When he noticed the undesirable condition Jin Chi Jr. was in, Lin Jin hurriedly appraised his condition through the Museum of Deadly Beasts.

After reading the evaluation results, Lin Jin seemed much more forlorn.

It was a good thing he had a mask on. Otherwise, Jin Chi and his wife might just faint from his expression. Strictly speaking, not only was Jin Chi Jr. physically hurt, but the greater damage was actually on his soul.

Someone had shattered Jin Chi Jr.’s soul, and if it weren’t for Jin Chi’s capabilities, which forcibly trapped his son’s shattered soul inside the boy’s body, Jin Chi Jr. would have succumbed to the injuries a long time ago.

The treatment he received from Jin Chi was slowly losing its effectiveness. Based on Jin Chi Jr’s current condition, he likely only had a year’s time left to live.

‘This will be challenging,’ thought Lin Jin.

But that was all — challenging.

The museum still provided him with several treatment options. So long as there was a way, the little bird could be saved. The only difference would be the level of difficulty.

After brief consideration, Lin Jin made a decision.

He chose the solution with the highest success rate, and that was to use the Body-Recast Psyche-Refining Needle to mend Jin Chi Jr.’s soul.

Thanks to this skill, there was no need for Lin Jin to seek unique and rare medicinal herbs, which were required for the alternatives provided by the museum.

The soul-nurturing grass was one such example.

Most people have never even heard of it before, much less seen one.

Hence, the Body-Recast Psyche-Refining Needle saved Lin Jin quite a bit of effort.

Lin Jin said to Jin Chi, “Great Monster Jin Chi, you have truly remarkable skills. However, I’m afraid that you too might find it arduous to continue condensing his soul with your monster energy. You must be near your limit, yes?”

Jin Chi was stunned before realizing what Lin Jin was trying to say.

“Curator, you have impeccable senses for you to be able to say this.”

But he was delighted.

If Curator could tell that much, he might be able to save his child.

This thought excited Jin Chi.

“However, you must promise me something. When I administer the treatment later, you have to retrieve your monster energy, and I mean every bit of it. Otherwise, I won’t be able to rescue your son.”

Lin Jin wasn’t joking.

Jin Chi Jr.’s shattered soul was currently being held together by Jin Chi’s monster energy. Although this force could prevent his soul from disintegrating, the fragments were everywhere that Lin Jin couldn’t mend it.

Only by removing Jin Chi’s monster energy could Lin Jin start work.

This would be up to Jin Chi. It was a test of his faith in Curator. Everyone knew that once Jin Chi retracted his energy, and if the treatment failed, they would lose the opportunity to even prolong junior’s life.

Jin Chi knew it well, so it was normal for him to hesitate.

Although he had faith in Curator’s abilities, there was still the risk of complications arising. Should the treatment fail, his son would be gone forever.
