Chapter 6575 Void Filling
“Is it related to the laws of the Heavenly Daos?” Long Chen asked.
He suddenly thought of the Heaven Cauldron. Even the Earth Cauldron had said that the Heavenly Daos had changed, and that it was tied to the Heaven Cauldron.
“The heavens you speak of are not the heavens I speak of,” the sweeping elder said with a shake of his head.
“You mean... the heavens beyond the heavens!” Long Chen exclaimed suddenly.
“Hahaha!”
The sweeping elder laughed, genuinely amused. He hadn’t expected Long Chen to grasp the meaning with just the barest hint.
Long Chen, however, was shaken. Countless images swirled through his mind, formerly unclear fragments snapping into place. Many things he had not understood suddenly grew clearer thanks to this moment.
The sweeping elder didn’t mention this topic again. Clearly, some truths could not be spoken—only comprehended.
Through Long Chen’s expression, the sweeping elder knew that Long Chen understood.
With a wave of his finger, the void split open. The sweeping elder and Long Chen stepped into the sky.
As the void turned, they found themselves at a lake surrounded by mountains.
“Ask the old man how he does that so easily. When I tear the void, I never know where I’ll end up,” Evilmoon muttered in Long Chen’s mind.
Back then, the white-robed Long Chen had also hacked open space, only for the chaotic spatial currents to fling him somewhere random. Yet, the sweeping elder could traverse through space as easily as breathing. Evilmoon was desperate to learn how to do that.
Before Long Chen could scold Evilmoon for speaking so irreverently, the sweeping elder said, “It is useless to ask this old man. Your power is insufficient. Only when you can freely command the power of laws will you naturally be capable of it.”
“What?!”
Evilmoon was shocked. Its voice had never been secret from this old man. Now, it was simply embarrassed.
Long Chen felt the same and had the urge to smack Evilmoon. However, the sweeping elder wasn’t offended by it.
He said, “Long Chen, although you are exceptionally talented, the time you’ve spent on cultivating is simply too short. You have many flaws to address. You are now in a weak state—your essence, qi, and spirit are all deficient. I deliberately brought you here without letting you heal so I could teach you a simple method of recovery.”
Long Chen brightened instantly and focused, afraid to miss a word.
“In our era, we had a more fitting term for healing. We called it ‘void filling.’”
“Void filling...” Long Chen repeated. That term did sound appropriate.
“Come now, begin healing as you normally would,” the sweeping elder said. “But do not use the world inside your body.”
The sweeping elder referred to the primal chaos space, stunning Long Chen. How could he know about it?
Taking a breath, Long Chen formed hand seals. His eight-colored divine ring bloomed, and a massive whirlpool started to form.
“Stop!”
Long Chen froze before he could draw in the power of heaven and earth.
The sweeping elder explained, “If you use heaven and earth to fill the void within yourself, you must first understand this: the Dao of the Heavens always restores balance by filling any deficiencies. The Human Dao is the opposite—it’s filled with imbalance. Forcibly absorbing the power of heaven and earth is an act of the Human Dao. The harder you force it, the more resistance you encounter, and the slower the recovery.
“You know the Serene Scripture, so you should know that if a person’s heart reaches true serenity, they can merge with heaven and earth. When you become one with the world, the world heals you on its own. Think of yourself as a depression beside a large pool of water. You don’t need to scoop the water if you can simply let the water flow in.
“Try using your divine ring as a bridge, and become one with heaven and earth.”
Hearing the sweeping elder’s guidance, Long Chen closed his eyes and formed new hand seals. He silently recited the scripture.
A heart without desire. A mind that sees through transience. Eyes that see all and nothing at the same time. See everything, see nothing... be everything, be nothing...
As the scripture rang out in Long Chen’s mind, a flood of power started to converge upon his divine ring. Eight-colored radiance enveloped him as pure heaven-and-earth energy poured into his body.
Long Chen’s essence, qi, and spirit rapidly recovered, but Long Chen didn’t sense a thing. He was in a state of nothingness.
Then his body trembled, and he emerged from the trance. His essence brimmed with strength. His three bloodlines roared with unprecedented vitality.
“Good. You recovered fully in just one hour. That means you approached a near-perfect fusion of heaven and man,” the sweeping elder praised.
“Near-perfect means not perfect. Sweeping elder overpraises me,” said Long Chen with a smile.
“If you pursue perfection in all things, you will find nothing perfect. Between heaven and earth stands man. If perfection existed, the world would already be dead,” the sweeping elder said calmly.
“Disciple will remember it.”
“Your body has recovered, but your astral energy has not. That is something you must handle alone. Continue recovering. I will guard you,” said the sweeping elder.
Long Chen thanked the sweeping elder and closed his eyes once more. His astral manifestation suddenly appeared. The eight astral gates opened, each containing a massive star. Their collective radiance made even the heavens tremble.
Seeing this astral manifestation, the sweeping elder couldn’t help but frown.
“Long Chen’s Nine Star Hegemon Body Art has completely deviated from the original. He has created an entirely new astral framework... That is an act of defying heaven itself.”
The sweeping elder studied Long Chen’s starry sea manifestation intently. He saw star diagrams flowing and layering on top of each other in an incredibly complex manner. There were countless interchanging connections, and there was no way to comprehend all that.
All these star diagrams had different effects, boosting and restraining each other at the same time. Even the sweeping elder felt helpless.
The sweeping elder sighed. In other areas, he could provide Long Chen some guidance. But in this field, Long Chen truly walked alone.
Long Chen spent three full days restoring his astral energy.
At the dawn of the third day, he opened his eyes excitedly.
“Sweeping elder, I’ve found a way to perfect my astral battle armor—and to mend the flaw in my nirvanic rebirth!”
