Nine Star Hegemon Body Art

Chapter 6425 Malevolent Altars

Chapter 6425 Malevolent Altars

A group of lanky outsider lifeforms had gathered in front of Long Chen. They resembled apes, but had black wings on their backs, and their mouths were filled with sawtooth-like fangs.

Long Chen’s sudden appearance from the spatial river startled them. The moment they recognized him, one of them sounded the alarm.

Terrifying auras rose in the distance. Long Chen observed that these lifeforms were constructing an altar, which was nearly complete. There was a deep hole at the center with countless strange runes encircling it. The runes were inactive, so their purpose remained a mystery.

“Up ahead is Devil Cloud Mountain. For there to be a group of outsider demons setting up an altar here, they’re definitely up to no good. Cang Lu, slaughter them!” Long Chen shouted.

The Earth Cauldron vanished from above his head, and Cang Lu came flying out.

BOOM!

With a single punch, Cang Lu blew the altar apart, and the powerful qi wave obliterated these outsider lifeforms.

Though menacing in appearance, these creatures were no match for him. After all, none possessed nine hundred Sovereign flames. Compared to Cang Lu, they were mere ants. Hundreds of thousands of them were annihilated instantly.

At this moment, the void trembled, and an expert with 998 Sovereign flames attacked.

But before he could even register what was happening, Cang Lu’s punch tore through the void, reducing him to a mist of blood.

In the blink of an eye, Cang Lu was already miles away, rending the void with his hands. Multiple reinforcements rushing over were shredded before they could reach him.

Only a single expert with 999 Sovereign flames managed to resist the tearing force by relying on a massive shield. However, before he could rejoice, Cang Lu’s hand struck his shield. Black qi surged violently and ripped the expert’s body apart.

Long Chen noted that this particular lifeform was different from the previous ape-like ones. Though taller and covered in fur, it still belonged to the demon race.

Just then, a white bone spear pierced through the void, swirling with Sovereign flames. Another expert with 999 Sovereign flames had appeared. Fast and precise, this new opponent attacked from a tricky angle, exploiting the opening. The battle instinct of this expert was clearly top-tier.

As Cang Lu had just slain the opponent before him, his power still concentrated in his hand, which left his back momentarily exposed.

BOOM!

The spear struck Cang Lu’s back with an explosive sound. However, it couldn’t injure him in the slightest.

That expert was shocked. He had expected his full-power attack to pierce through Cang Lu. However, it was as if he had just struck impenetrable steel.

“As expected of the Dark Son, his rate of growth is incredible,” Long Chen praised, looking a bit surprised.

By all logic, that attack should have wounded Cang Lu. But his body had grown to such terrifying heights that even the full-power strike of a peak nine-hundred-flame expert couldn’t harm him.

If Long Chen wanted to achieve the same result, he would need to summon his Sovereign flames. However, Cang Lu didn’t even need to do that.

“Good, I was worried he would fall behind, but it seems I was worrying for nothing,” Long Chen muttered.

BOOM!

Black Sovereign flames erupted from Cang Lu’s back, surging like a volcanic explosion, and the bone spear was instantly reduced to fragments.

The spear’s owner panicked and tried to retreat, but the splintered shards of his own weapon impaled him, riddling his body with holes. He died before he could even scream.

Cang Lu continued to slay the enemies. Even experts with 999 Sovereign flames couldn’t block him at all.

Back when Cang Lu fought Long Chen, he had just condensed 999 Sovereign flames. Now, his Sovereign flames had started to merge. Although he had not yet reached the One Merger realm, his combat power had already crossed that threshold.

Against Ming Cang, Cang Lu had once struggled slightly. But now, Cang Lu could suppress him with ease. Such was the terrifying potential of the Dark Son.

With Cang Lu clearing the path, Long Chen followed from the rear. It wasn’t long before he saw a completed altar.

At the center was a deep pit filled with scarlet blood. Chains of unknown material extended downward into the pool, binding a corpse within.

As Long Chen descended onto the altar, he saw several lifeforms working busily around it. When they noticed him, they let out furious roars and charged over.

In response, vines shot out of Long Chen’s back and stabbed them. Their corpses were drawn into the primal chaos space like offerings.

Zhi Zhi had finally recovered from the battle, but it was still weak and couldn’t fight any top experts. Nonetheless, these small fry—those with fewer than nine hundred Sovereign flames—were easy prey.

Long Chen arrived at the altar and sensed a powerful curse energy welling out of it. The blood pool was bubbling, and the corpse chained within it was slowly releasing its might.

“Original devil race...”

When Long Chen spotted the “Devil” divine rune glowing faintly on the corpse’s forehead, flames of rage erupted within him. These outsiders were extracting the power of this original devil corpse and refining it into curse energy.

He didn’t yet know what purpose the curse energy served, but one thing was certain—it was nothing good.

This corpse originated from the primal chaos era. While its exact cultivation base was unclear, the faint fluctuations from the “Devil” rune told Long Chen that this being had once been a mighty Divine Sovereign.

That sight filled Long Chen with righteous fury. The original devil race had once fought for the nine heavens in the primal chaos war. Without their sacrifice, the nine heavens would have perished long ago.

And yet, no one honored them. No one remembered their glory. Their descendants were instead branded as devils and hunted without mercy.

Seeing their ancestor’s body desecrated in such a manner, Long Chen couldn’t hold it anymore. He seized the chains binding the corpse.

BOOM!

The moment his hand touched the chains, the blood pool boiled. Countless runes containing immense curse energy flowed through the chains toward Long Chen.

Long Chen was about to destroy them when a thought flashed through his mind. Instead of resisting, he allowed the curse runes to envelop him.

“What a crude curse art,” he sneered. “To think you’d dare to use such a low-level trick? Heaven Soul Blood Curse!”

Forming one-handed seals, Long Chen unleashed his Spiritual Strength. A torrent of curse power erupted from within him, surging back through the runes toward the altar.

His Spiritual Strength traced the curse’s origin upstream, and what he saw next made his blood run cold with fury.
