Chapter 6424 Spatial Fragments

Chapter 6424 Spatial Fragments

Long Chen was startled by the sudden voice. He hastily turned around—and to his shock, found himself standing inside a grand palace.

A bloodstained man clad in shattered armor was anxiously shouting to a tall figure standing before him. The tall man’s back faced Long Chen, so Long Chen couldn’t see his face.

“Commander, our barrier is breaking down!” the bloodied man shouted in panic. “I suspect there are traitors among us. If this continues, the barrier will completely collapse!”

“What?! Impossible!” the tall man exclaimed, shuddering in shock.

All of a sudden, Long Chen sensed a ripple in space and saw a sword of cold light flying straight at the tall man’s back. Though Long Chen knew it was useless, he shouted a warning.

“Watch out!”

BOOM!

A blast of Sword Qi shattered the hall. Amid the chaos, Long Chen caught a glimpse of the tall man’s face. It was sharp, as though carved by a blade, and his once-firm gaze now reflected only shock and sorrow.

“Little brother... why?” the tall man asked.

He turned his head, staring at the one who had stabbed him. Pain, fury, and grief burned within his gaze.

“Big brother, don’t blame me. I do this for all our people. I have received the approval of the patriarchs.”

This was a lean, handsome man with a wild glint in his eyes. Blood dripped from his sword as he looked at his elder brother.

The handsome man said, “Big brother, you refused to listen to us. You forced the fate of our clan onto the Star Master, leading us all to ruin. You defied the patriarchs’ orders and ignored the will of the clan. You’ve gone mad! If you want to die, then die alone—don’t drag everyone down with you!”

The tall man stared at his younger brother, the rage in his eyes gradually turning into sorrow.

“In times of crisis, you see who you can truly depend on,” he sighed bitterly. “But I never thought the one to betray me would be my own brother.”

“No, you are the one who betrayed the clan first! Make sure you understand this!” the little brother snapped, shaking his head.

“Those old fellows have grown blind with age. But even you can’t see the truth? Only by standing together with the Star Master does our clan have any future,” said the tall man.

“Future?!” the younger man laughed scornfully. “By siding with the Star Master, you’ve led us to the brink of extinction! What kind of future will we have?”

“The devils from beyond the world invaded and slaughtered all lifeforms of the nine heavens. Only by fighting with the Star Master and the Pill Sovereign can we protect this world! There is no other choice—we must fight to the end!” shouted the tall man, shaking his head at him in disappointment.

“Fight to the end? With what?!” the younger brother roared. “We’re already doomed, and resistance only leads to extinction. The invaders came because of the Star Master and the Pill Sovereign! Their deaths are the only way to end this war!”

The tall man’s eyes dimmed with grief. “You fool... you actually believe the lies of those devils?”

The little brother raised his sword toward his big brother.

With a cold tone, he said, “Hand over the clan seal and abdicate your position. If you truly care for the clan, surrender both your title and your head. This is the will of the patriarchs! Big brother, in your injured state, you are not a match for me. Struggling is meaningless.”

A dangerous gleam flickered in the big brother’s eyes. Madness and grief intertwined upon his face. Suddenly, he threw his head back and roared. An earth-shattering wave of qi erupted, tearing the void apart.

When the world reformed, the ruthless younger brother had vanished. Countless outsider lifeforms stood there.

“Power Dao—Swiftness!”

A thunderous shout split the world. A sword image appeared, slashing through space and time itself, radiating boundless Dao-charm.

The void collapsed beneath that sword. Grand Dao runes flew through the air along with fragments of space and time until they merged into a radiant, flowing river.

The elder brother was gone, the younger brother vanished, and the endless outsiders who had shown up at the end disappeared as well, leaving behind only the roaring, eternal river.

Long Chen’s soul quivered violently. Agony shot through him as he realized his mind-sea was cracking apart. From the cracks, endless spatial fragments poured in, threatening to shatter his consciousness entirely.

Long Chen hastily formed hand seals. The Divine Gate opened as he poured all his strength into sealing the cracks, preventing more fragments from entering.

Even as he stabilized his condition, shock filled his heart.

That was just a memory—an echo of history from this river—and it almost killed me!

This spatial river had existed from the primal chaos era, but it still carried such terrifying power. Just how strong was that big brother?

“No wonder Senior warned me to be careful,” Long Chen muttered grimly. “So this is the Grand Dao’s will... Wait—no. How could one person control the will of the Grand Dao?”

As the thought struck him, the spatial blades embedded within his mind-sea suddenly went berserk. The cracks were gone, but now the fragments rampaged wildly, slicing at his soul.

“These fragments contain a terrifying spatial power, as well as that incredible Dao-charm. Perhaps they’ll be useful to me in the future. I’ll keep them for now,” Long Chen muttered.

The Divine Gate flared open again. As the Divine Gate Star shone brightly, spiritual chains shot out, forming a net that enveloped those spatial fragments.

But the spatial fragments resisted fiercely, cutting through the chains as if they were paper.

Long Chen’s expression hardened. His Spiritual Strength surged again and again, forming thousands of new nets. However, each net was torn apart in turn.

“You no longer have a power source. How long can you last?” Long Chen snorted and decided to wear the spatial fragments down slowly.

After hundreds and thousands of spiritual nets, Long Chen finally bound the spatial fragments completely, sealing them deep within his mind-sea.

“Just a few thousand spatial fragments from countless years ago, yet they still contain such immense power...” Long Chen muttered, his eyes gleaming in awe. “That man must have been an unimaginable existence.”

However, as Long Chen recalled how this mighty existence had fallen—stabbed in the back by his own younger brother, who had sided with the enemy even as they were driven to the final defensive line—he felt a burst of pain. The big brother had died with a sword in hand, betrayed by his own family.

Thinking of that younger brother’s expression at the time, Long Chen seethed with anger. The greed in those eyes was unmistakable. Everything else had been nothing but an excuse. He had killed his big brother because he wanted the clan leader position.

“Senior, what realm did that person reach?” asked Long Chen.

“Above a Divine Sovereign.”

BOOM!

As the Earth Cauldron answered, it tore through a wall of space, dragging Long Chen out of the terrifying spatial river.

The moment they emerged, countless eyes turned toward them.

When they recognized Long Chen, killing intent exploded. A deep, thunderous horn blared across the land, its sound spreading far and wide.
