Chapter 757: Ludmila’s Fall Through Her Eyes
People can possess various skills that have nothing to do with bloodline, magical treasures, or any sort of elemental affinity.
Such skills might include natural leadership, the capacity to wield a blade with elegance and lethality, the gift of persuasion, and countless others.
In Ludmila’s case, she had always heard from her grandfather that she possessed an incredibly powerful empathy.
When she was young, such a skill seemed quite useless, or rather, it even hindered her by making her feel sad about others’ misfortunes.
But one day, Ludmila understood how that empathy could be useful as she learned to use it to put herself in anyone’s place, even people she had just met.
Such mastery is especially incredible when Ludmila needs to deal with an enemy or a potentially dangerous person like Lucien.
Now, looking into the calm, crystal blue of his eyes, Ludmila realizes that everything she has been through, all the adversaries and enemies she has defeated, meant nothing in front of this Handsome Devil.
Because every time he looks directly at her with bright eyes and a friendly smile, her heart beats faster and her so sharp senses are numbed by new feelings.
Ludmila knew the instant Lucien appeared and cast his gaze upon her, that she could not deal with him in the same way she had dealt with all the men in her life.
The wise elf also understood that Lucien’s ambitions could not be contained even by the vast sky of Shadow Star; it’s clear that he wants to spread his influence over everyone and dominate her entire race.
She realized it when he promised the little elf that he would take care of her and make this a better world.
Despite Ludmila’s curiosity about what the leadership of a demon might be like, she remains loyal to whom she believes to be the rightful leader of the Dark Elves.
[But what’s the use of loyalty if I can’t defeat this devil?] She questions herself mentally while continuing to stare at Lucien.
Ludmila curses Lucien for the incredible power he has; it’s not about strength, but rather the influence he has over her body.
She knows in her very core that it will be impossible to resist any of his requests if she stays near him any longer.
[And what’s the other option? To flee and abandon the city my ancestors have protected for hundreds of thousands of years?] She wonders.
[NO!] She shakes her head and firms her determination. [Just like my parents died defending this city and its people, I will fall fighting...]
[Even if my fall is to this devil!] Ludmila’s eyes shine with determination as she faces Lucien.
But he is confused because she stopped responding two minutes ago and is staring at him with changing expressions.
"Ludmila? Are you okay?" He extends his hand to touch her.
Time seems to slow down for her, her heart racing faster than ever, her usually cold body now sweating with the tension of the moment.
A part of her knows that avoiding that touch might grant her a few more minutes of autonomy.
But she is smart enough to know that those minutes won’t change anything.
Thus, the proud Lady Ludmila, leader of the loyal city of Zimoigrad, finally accepts defeat and falls before an invincible enemy, not the devil himself, but her own body.
Ludmila lowers her head and allows Lucien to touch her body, bringing the pleasant surprise of a sensation better than she could have imagined.
Lucien indeed does not hold back his energies and lets them flow through the mature elf’s body, bringing comfort and relaxation to her whole being.
"Ahh..." She lets out a relieved sigh as she feels like a mountain of iron has been lifted from her shoulders and her body thrown into a pool of pure liquid pleasure.
"Sorry, my Prince, I have failed..." She whispers those words softly before raising her head to face Lucien directly.
Lucien is proud of his vision skills and his empathy, especially regarding women, but he still can’t see clearly through Ludmila.
She, too, can’t see through him, but she clearly understands that he will seduce her, and she will fall no matter how much she resists.
[So why resist at all?]
Ludmila has already made her decision, but she won’t abandon her people, so what comes next is still a mystery.
"I’m fine," she nods amicably to Lucien.
All the girls look at Ludmila with confused and curious expressions, thinking she might be freaking out or something.
But Lucien can see the resolve in the charming elf’s eyes, and Lust also sees it.
"She’s smart, very smart," Lust comments in Lucien’s mind.
Lucien agrees and that’s why he wants Ludmila by his side, so he behaves honestly and respectfully towards her.
"I’m sorry if the attitude of my sisters seemed hostile," he speaks in a courteous tone. "But we come from afar and with good intentions..."
Lucien pauses before looking at his sisters with a loving expression and at Cecilia with an inquisitive gaze.
"But there are members of our family here, mothers of my sisters, and Cecilia might provide us with answers about their current situation," he explains.
The pieces of the puzzle named Mysterious Handsome Devil start to fit together in Ludmila’s mind.
And even though she has accepted her fate, she’s not willing to abandon her honor and principles.
So she casts a friendly glance at Cecilia, and the beautiful mother of Amelia returns it with a nod of her head and a confident smile, making it clear that she is well.𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Ludmila looks back at Lucien. "I understand, but please, let’s try to be courteous here, this castle has been under the care of my family for hundreds of generations and I like to think of it as a safe harbor for our allies."
Lucien grows increasingly fond of Ludmila and respects her straightforward and firm personality. He nods at her and then turns his attention to his sisters and the Sins, especially Naomi, Donna, and Wrath.
"No demolitions inside the castle," he says firmly.
The girls nod, but the bold Sin bares her teeth at Lucien in response.
He smiles, but his smile isn’t gentle and friendly but rather teasing and devilish, sending shivers down Wrath’s spine.
She doesn’t want to end up screaming and running away like Gluttony, so she quickly raises her hands. "Okay, I got it."
Lucien still doesn’t seem convinced and maintains his penetrating gaze on Wrath’s eyes, making her increasingly nervous.
"No demolitions inside the castle, I promise!" she exclaims.
Lucien winks at Wrath, making her heart beat faster before turning his attention back to Ludmila. "They will behave, at least as much as possible."
Ludmila nods, feeling more relieved to see Wrath obey Lucien so quickly.
Part of her feels embarrassed for succumbing after so many years of resisting any external influence.
But how could someone who was about to be killed in battle against Svetlana and Artem resist the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins?
Ludmila can keep her head held high and her honor intact, knowing that soon she will be obeying Lucien without a second thought.
"Thank you," she says to him with all sincerity and a heart free of guilt.
Lucien almost gives a kiss and instinctively calls Ludmila a ’good girl’, but he manages to resist such an urge and turns his attention back to Cecilia, who is shocked to see the proud elf become a tame kitten in front of him.
"Now, how about you start talking?" He asks politely, but the blue in his eyes begins to be replaced by shades of bright purple and gold.
Cecilia, already less confident after seeing Eve, understands that Lucien is not to be underestimated upon witnessing how he handles the Sins.
And as the color of his eyes begins to change, she feels it’s better to start talking or who knows what kind of thing he might make her do.
"They are all fine, I swear!" she quickly exclaims.
