Chapter 739: Returning to Belor

Chapter 739: Returning to Belor

After settling the glass coffin with the unconscious Thalara in one of the vacant rooms of his house, Lucien turns his attention to the Water Spirit.

"Do we have any other urgent matters to address?" he asks.

"Nothing that can’t wait a few days," she responds amiably, yet it’s impossible to hide a hint of sadness in her tone.

Lucien also notices that Nea and Mira share the same sentiment, along with a touch of envy towards Saria and Kamala.

"This is not a goodbye," he smiles at the ladies. "Not when I can literally come back every day for dinner with you."

Nea and Mira beam with wide, bright smiles, but the Water Spirit throws a dampener on their plans.

"It’s okay if you can’t come back every day for a while, I bet you have many places to go and things to do," she says as intimately and naturally as any of his wives.

The Sins and some girls throw inquisitive and annoyed glances at the Water Spirit, but Lucien thinks the same way as she does.

In fact, ever since he met her, he started to believe that the answers he seeks are closer than he thinks, he just needs to look for them in the right place.

"So we shouldn’t waste more time," he looks at the Water Spirit, Nea, and Mira. "We will resolve the situation in Belor and bring both the humans from there and the people of Argerim here as soon as possible."

"We’ll get everything ready for you," the Water Spirit responds again before Mira and Nea can say anything.

Everyone can see that she already feels like part of the family and is striving to be by Lucien’s side as much as any other woman, perhaps even more than those closest to him.

"Thank you," Lucien smiles at her, causing his wives to grow increasingly concerned about how close they might become.

Even the Sins closest to Lucien start to realize that the Water Spirit might become the most formidable opponent in gaining his attention.

Lucien turns his focus to Daisy and Sloth, who were working on two portals, one to Belor and the other to Qia.

"Well," he approaches Genevieve and kisses her lips lovingly, sending waves of joy through her body. "You know what to do."

She nods. "Deliver the message to Lady Alexa and signal the Water Spirit."

"Right," the Water Spirit nods and points to a runic stone in the angel’s hand. "Just channel your energy into this rune, as other forms of magic might not penetrate my barrier."

Genevieve nods before stepping into the portal that begins to transport her body to Qia.

The Water Spirit turns her attention back to Lucien. "Do you have the rune I gave you as well?"

"Yep," he nods. "But since I can only open an instant portal directly here, it seems a bit redundant."

She shakes her head. "That rune sends me an instant signal too, so if you need me... just don’t hesitate to ask for my help. Even though I can’t leave the Blue Star right now... just stay safe."

To most people, the Water Spirit might seem to be just trying to gain Lucien’s trust, but he can feel that her concern is genuinely sincere.

He still has no idea what she represents to him and is also unsure how to handle their relationship, so he simply nods to her.

"Now we need to go..." he remarks while looking at Naomi, who appears on the verge of biting off her last nail. "Before Naomi goes completely crazy with anxiety."

Naomi is unfazed by that teasing; after all, she can only think about returning to Belor and fixing things there, just like her other sisters.

Mira and Nea bid farewell to Lucien and their daughters, while Maya also says goodbye to her family.

Then, all of Lucien’s wives and sisters who have a soul contract with him enter the Purple World, easing the strain on the portal.

Lastly, Lucien looks at the Water Spirit one more time before stepping into the portal with the other girls.

Somehow, he feels that leaving the Water Spirit is wrong and that he will miss her a lot even if they are only apart for a few days.

"See you soon," he says to Nea, Mira, and the Water Spirit.

"See you soon..." The Water Spirit is again the first to respond.

Her beautiful face is the last thing he sees before the dark void of the interworld swallows him and his group inside the portal.

"Honestly, I thought you would be much more eager to return to your homeworld," Lust comments in his mind.

"I’m not sure how, but..." He struggles to find the right words to describe his feelings now.

"You think the answers aren’t there..." Lust voices his thoughts better than he can. "Also, you don’t think your mother will really be there..."

"Why would she be?" He responds with a question that is actually directed at himself. "I mean, after everything... I don’t even know if she was ever real."

Lust would like to tell Lucien that his mother’s love for him is real, but she is no longer sure of anything.

He can feel how bad Lust feels for not being able to help him, so he tries to comfort her.

"It’s okay, my love," he speaks affectionately. "I am starting to suffer less over things I have no control over."

"Also," he continues. "We have more urgent matters to worry about now."

"You mean the mothers and people of your sisters?" Lust asks rhetorically.

"Yes," Lucien responds. "Everything Michael did was to gain power to defeat the Silver Legion..."

"I’m not defending him," Lucien quickly clarifies. "He failed in every possible way, but now we have the power to fix his mistakes."

"Yes, this victory will be good for us," Lust comments excitedly. "After summoning your troops from Argerim and bringing some Mermaids and Nagas through the portal, we can take Belor in just a few days."

"But?" Lucien can sense that something is troubling Lust.

"Well..." she explains. "Do you remember that voice that told us to only return to Belor after ten years?"

"Yep," Lucien doesn’t think his mother is in Belor, but he understands why Lust might think that. "You think it’s her?"𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"I don’t know," Lust responds honestly. "It might be another one of your mysterious allies, or a kind of watcher like Helena."

"Hmm..." Lucien gets lost in thought.

The sense of time and space inside the portal is almost non-existent, and soon the group sees the tops of Belor’s clouds before emerging from the portal in the sky above the fortress where Lucien and his sisters grew up.

"We’re here..." Eve comments in a somber tone; she can’t hide all the pain and anger in her heart.

And speaking of anger, Donna is certainly the most affected. Seeing the cold and lonely fortress on the mountain, she remembers all the pain Michael and her mother inflicted on her.

Not just them, but all of Lucien’s sisters recall everything they endured in that place, and now all they want is to fix things and leave Belor forever as quickly as possible.

"We have no time to waste!" Naomi exclaims and flies towards the fortress with Gluttony.

The others begin to descend too, but then Lust senses something is wrong. "Wait!"

"What is it?" Lucien quickly asks.

"Something’s off." Sloth materializes her body and speaks up.

"What is it?" Eve asks.

Pride materializes her body and extends her aura as far as possible. "Strange... there’s no one here."

"Where? In the fortress?" Lucien asks.

"Everywhere." Pride responds, shocking everyone.
