Chapter 735: Secret Alliance Reunion
While the mood on the Blue Star couldn’t be more festive, things are not good in the rest of the universe.
Among various types of conflicts and conspiracies, a secret meeting takes place in Qia, the Angel’s World, between two supposedly enemy factions.
Inside one of the most protected rooms of the Angelical fortress, some angels wait impatiently alongside two young individuals of exceptional appearance.
One of them is Joel, the Burning Child, and the other is Kael, the son of the Light God.
Also present in the room is the angel with the largest and clearest pair of wings of his kind, Titus, the Angel King.
As seconds turn into minutes, and minutes into hours, the atmosphere becomes increasingly tense, making the large room seem small.
"Where is that damned scaly worm???" Kael exclaims, with white light radiating from his eyes.
"..." Joel is also irritated and frustrated, causing his eyes to burn like living flames.
"I knew we couldn’t trust inferior beings..." Kael continues to complain.
Titus is usually the most imposing figure in Qia, but next to the sons of the most powerful Gods, he feels like a frightened animal.
"This-" Kael starts to complain again, but Joel summons his flaming sword and places it at the neck of the young Light God.
"YOU-" He tries to complain again, but Joel pushes the sword forward, making its flames burn the unblemished skin of Kael.
"If you’re not going to do something, shut the hell up!" Joel speaks in a threatening tone.
"Hey!" A gentle yet powerful female voice echoes through the room, carrying immense power, enough to make Titus, who is in the second layer of the Cosmic Realm, tremble with fear.
Before Joel can react, a beautiful figure appears in front of him and holds his wrist with hands as delicate as powerful.
"What the hell are you boys doing?!" The beautiful girl with blue hair and crystalline skin makes Joel step back and leave Kael alone.
"This idiot likes to show off his new toy!" Kael mocks Joel.
"Shh..." The girl smiles gently at the annoyed Kael, and the dark blue of her eyes seems like a dim star, sending shivers down his body.
Titus and the other angels quietly move away from the divine trio; despite appearing like bored teenagers, their combined power could easily destroy worlds.
As the blue-haired girl separates the two young Gods, an angel quickly enters the room, coming from an adjacent one.
Noticing the tense atmosphere, the angel lowers his head to avoid direct eye contact with the girl.
"Miss Coraline..." He speaks so softly that his words sound like a terrified whisper.
The blue-haired girl, Coraline, the daughter of the Water Goddess and third member of the Young Sacred Trinity, smiles at the angel, and the blue in her eyes brightens again. "Have they arrived?"
"Yes..." The angel speaks and quickly makes way for a group entering the room. "These are-"
"We don’t need that crap introduction." A deep yet youthful and energetic voice echoes in the room, making the angels even more tense.
The young gods wear arrogant expressions as they gaze at the young dragon entering the room leading his group.
These dragons are different from Aylin and her people, similar to the wingless dragons that attacked Donne and Sophia in Argerim, the Shé Dragons.
"Vihaan!" Coraline exclaims excitedly, but the dark glint in her eyes betrays emotions different from her friendly greeting.
"It’s about time you got here..." Joel comments in a curious tone.
But Kael doesn’t hide his fury. "You damn scaly bastard! Can you explain what the hell-"
Before the furious young God can finish his question, a large water hand materializes in front of him and forcefully grabs his head.
"You will behave, or..." Coraline begins in a neutral tone, but the threat in her voice grows increasingly ominous.
Kael struggles to break free from the water hand, but his strength and efforts are in vain.
Titus and the other angels panic, but none of them think of getting in Coraline’s way, not even to assist the son of the Light God.
The Shé Dragons also seem unconcerned about Kael’s plight, but Vihaan is impatient. "There’s no need for that, after all, I feel exactly like the young Light Prince..."
With a snap of her fingers, Coraline makes the water hand disappear, freeing Kael, who casts an annoyed look at her but remains silent.
"So..." Coraline looks at the Shé Dragons with a friendly expression that quickly shifts to an inquisitive and disappointed gaze.
They are unsure what to expect from her, but her words mirror Kael’s. "What the hell happened?!?!"
Now, everyone in the room becomes tense, and Vihaan looks at Coraline and the other Gods with a serious and concerned expression. "A barrier."
Coraline sighs. "Yeah, your message said it was a barrier, but couldn’t you destroy it? What kind of dragons are you, anyway?"
Before Vihaan can utter something offensive, a woman beside him steps forward and bows respectfully. "Your Highness..."
Her words and manner please Coraline, who smiles graciously and allows the woman to continue speaking.
"I was in charge of the portals..." the woman explains. "And well... it’s hard to explain, I’ve never seen such a large barrier; it literally covers the entire Blue Star."
Kael, Joel, and all the angels in the room are impressed, as creating a barrier that covers an entire large planet is a challenge even for the most powerful Gods.
Coraline is also surprised, though she maintains an arrogant expression. "Couldn’t you just wait for the barrier to dissipate? If it’s so large and incredible, I bet they couldn’t maintain-"
Before Coraline can finish, the woman raises her head, shocking everyone with her words again. "It’s still up."
"What?" The Gods and angels in the room can hardly believe those words.
"That’s right." The woman continues. "We’ve used every possible attack from that distance and tried multiple times to connect the portals, but the barrier remains as firm as ever."
Coraline can’t help but doubt those words, so she turns her gaze to Titus, who quickly leaves the room after bowing.
Joel, on the other hand, doesn’t doubt the woman’s words and steps towards the Shé Dragons. "Do you have any idea who could do something like this?"
"Not exactly-" The woman begins to speak, but Vihaan interrupts her.
"It’s okay, Annya," Vihaan speaks in a loving tone while placing his hand on her shoulder.
Annya appears hesitant, but Vihaan makes his thoughts clear. "We felt waves of demonic energy just as the portal was about to connect with the Blue Star, and then the barrier appeared..."
"Demonic energy?" Kael exclaims as white light emanates from his eyes.
Although he’s not as powerful as Coraline or doesn’t possess an incredible weapon like Joel’s flaming sword, he’s still one of the most powerful new-generation Gods.
The atmosphere inside the room becomes tense again; a secret alliance between Gods and Dragons was dangerous enough, but now demons might be involved in their objectives, making everything more perilous.
Everyone is thinking the same thing, but no one wants to say it out loud, making the atmosphere increasingly awkward.
Not even the breathing of the angels in the room can be heard, the only sound being the gentle caresses of Vihaan’s fingers on Annya’s shoulder.
Finally, Kael breaks the silence. "Do they know?"
"How could they know?" Joel quickly asks, and then the three Gods turn their gaze to the Shé Dragons.
"There was no leak of information from our side," Vihaan states confidently.
"Are you sure?" Coraline inquires.
Vihaan gestures to the other Dragons behind him. "Only my most loyal servants are aware of this, and they are always close by... my soldiers didn’t yet know anything about our plans."
"Hmm..." Coraline doesn’t doubt that, knowing that the Shé Dragons are quite strict even with their own kind.
"Assuming that was a coincidence..." Joel makes a thoughtful and curious expression. "Anyway, what kind of demonic energy did you feel?"
"Pure," Annya responds. "I have no doubt it was them..."
"Them..." The dark glow in Coraline’s eyes grows brighter, a sinister and frightening kind of gleam. "Is that why mom is so interested in that world?"
Hearing Coraline mention her mother, the Water Goddess, Joel and Kael exchange thoughtful glances.
Vihaan, on the other hand, appears even more impatient. "So, what are we going to do now?"
"Isn’t it obvious?" Kael responds with another question.
"Hunt them down, of course." Joel laughs confidently.
"Yes..." Coraline, on the other hand, seems more contemplative than determined. "I guess."
