Hao Xuan bore witness to the deal between Dai Zhi and Tian Zheng, supposed mortal enemies straight up working with one another.
'It looks like everything was set up just so Dai Zhi could create his divine spark, and even going as far as killing Ceni, this bastard really has no conscious does he...'
Hao Xuan had heard about the divine spark before from Baracus. Supposedly it was the thing one needed to create for their godhood and later ascension to a Divine being.
It was a different cultivation path than the one Hao Xuan was on, one that would truly make him a son of heaven if it was completed.
'I will not have any chance of killing him if he is able to create that divine spark. Although I didn't want to get my hands dirty, if he doesn't back off then I really will have to do something,' a glint of ruthlessness took root in his eyes.
Until now Hao Xuan had purposefully stayed away from Dao Zhi as much as possible simply because he didn't want to anger the forces that backed him.
He was not only the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Edda but his father, the King of Edda, was a full-fledged Vampire Lord and his current master was an all-powerful being who was the second most powerful entity in the entire Academy.
And if that wasn't enough, the Church of Light that was the mainstream religion of the greater world had some interest in him as well. Meaning at LEAST three superpowers were looking out for him.
It would probably be easier to steal the moon from the sky than to kill this guy, if that was even possible considering his abilities.
'I'll save him for the last then...' Hao Xuan finally concluded and as if waiting for him, the scene changed to a much darker one.
He was somewhere deep underground this time, surrounded by rock and stone on all sides but two.
The front was blocked by debris while at the back was a small group of people.
Hao Xuan instantly recognized two of the people there, especially since one of them was his own sever Monk and the other was the bald-headed first Guardian of the Temple, Dima.
He was the youngest of all the guardians from each of the three powers and one of the rare few that acted his age.
Covering his mouth with a handkerchief he was bent down halfway inspecting a corpse that was buried underneath the debris. From what was left of the man, he looked to be a native of this world.
"How many does this one make now?" he asked.
Someone from his entourage stepped forward to answer, "Close to 200 my lord."
"Tsk, what a shame. May his soul reach the wheel of reincarnation in the afterlife," Dima said a small prayer with clasped hands before waving them and covering his mouth again.
"Alright, open the way and throw the corpse outside with all the rest. We're almost there so no need to use the mortals, get to it yourselves."
"Yes, my lord!" the half a dozen or so cultivators behind him answered in unison.
Dima was walking back out when he stopped in front of Monk.
"You, what is your name again?" he asked with knitted brows trying to recall it.
"This one is called Monk, my lord."
"Hmm, Monk. You have a good bloodline and I've noticed you around before, you're a hard worker. What do you say, interested in being my right-hand man?"
The others gazed at him with unconcealed envy, only able to wish they were in his shoes.
"O-Of course, my lord! It would be my greatest pleasure to serve you!"
Monk replied so passionately that it even made Hao Xuan doubt his intentions. If he didn't have Monk's life in the palm of his hand Hao Xuan would have thought he was serious too.
But even then he didn't ignore the fact that Monk might do something to harm him.
"Good, very good. From now on you are in charge of this operation. Open up the pathway within the next two days and I will reward you handsomely. Namely, a blood cleansing pill that will increase the purity of your bloodline."
"Thank you, Lord Dima!" Monk gave a light bow but since he was more than twice Dima's size, he was still looking down at him.
The time sped up and soon the pathway was cleared.
A full team of well-armored individuals wearing suits that looked like a mix of traditional armor along with some modern tech installed in them entered, passing Monk's group without even so much as a greeting.
Their every orifice was covered with one thing or another and there even seemed to be a face mask with its own oxygen supply attached to the backs of each of the hulking armors.
Rather than wearing them, it looked like they were entombed within the armor sets. It was something that Hao Xuan had only seen in Gothic-themed comic books back on earth, yet here it was in the flash.
They were going straight down, prepared for every possible scenario.
'The prison...the Temple is still trying to pry its way in....what are they after?'
