Chapter 4540: Boundless Formation Laws
Even after seeing Davis’s powers, Layla Mistwalker still held the opinion that Isabella was stronger. Part of it had to do with the fact that he didn’t really show his true prowess.
After all, the layer of chaos-destruction energy he used to snatch the fabric of space or even the reality of the barrier didn’t surpass the Mid-Level Empyrean Stage.
Nonetheless, Davis gestured for her to continue.
Layla Mistwalker’s lips moved, "Runic Precision could be considered a Greater Law, and Lattice Sense could be considered a Peak-Level Greater Law. Comprehending these two Intents alone is enough for a formation master to stand at the peak amongst his peers."
"Their formations will be recognized and revered throughout the world. In fact, my Mistwalker Family maintained our supremacy in formations precisely because we birth such a formation master nearly every five generations."
"Even so, there are an extreme few who stand even above them. They are those who comprehend the Level Two Obscure Intent of Boundless Formation Laws - Core Heart Symphony."
"..." Everyone raised their brows.
Layla Mistwalker continued, "The heart of the formation beats with one’s Will. In this level, a formation master is able to channel their intent directly into the core of a formation. Even broken arrays can function under sheer Willpower, and their control extends over realms, allowing them to control their formation from nearly anywhere they please."
"...!"
Azariel and the others were shocked. They looked at their father for confirmation.
If what she was saying was the truth, then that was really a frightening endeavor. For a formation master to be able to control their formations from anywhere, they’ll be able to make endless traps and squash their enemies when they expect the least.
Davis appeared impressed before he nodded, "No wonder the Mistwalker Family is really renowned. I heard your family’s formations are even used in the wars fought with other galaxies."
"Indeed, and you just eliminated Lambert, who is considered a supreme genius in formations and has a bright future similar to mine or even more, since he has just been recruited as one of the personal disciples of the Boundless Formation Sage."
"..."
Davis’s expression turned aghast.
Seeing his expression, Layla Mistwalker finally felt a hint of relief, but then her heart sank.
"And who is that supposed to be?" Davis shrugged, "I really have no idea, nor do I care to know someone who is as equally irrelevant as I am in the Greater Realm as they are in the Lower Realms."
Layla Mistwalker’s expression trembled, her pupils quivering, "Don’t lie. You possibly cannot know of the Seven Great Boundless Hegemons of our Celestial Transcendent Galaxy?"
Davis shook his head before he turned to look at Myria, since he had an inkling she might know.
As expected, Myria’s eyes appeared to know. She opened her mouth.
"There are many tales of the Seven Great Boundless Brothers spread across the Upper Realms. Each one follows a different path. One took formations, one took beast taming. One took the sword and another took the pen. One took alchemy and the other took forging. Finally, the last one chose the way of the heart."
"Their tale begins at the Immortal Stage. Slowly, they make their way up to Kings, Emperors, and finally Empyreans. Nearly every human in the Upper Realms who is fond of our galaxy’s history knows of them since they appear in many folktales and myths alike, and are a source of motivation since many chose their path according to the one they like. I knew they were real and could be above the Empyrean Stage, but to think they were such great existences enough to be acknowledged as Hegemons. It seems like they’re truly powerful."
Myria nearly rolled her eyes.
It seems like they suddenly made a terrifying enemy out of nowhere.
Davis blinked. But he still shrugged, "Did Lambert Mistwalker do the master-disciple ceremony?"
"He was supposed to, but with the hectic treasure hunting in the secret realm, he was unable to go. Still, the Boundless Formation Sage is known to keep his word, so Lambert could be considered the Boundless Formation Sage’s personal disciple. It is for the same reason I was betrothed to him, so that I may receive the teachings of the Boundless Formation Sage."
By the time Layla Mistwalker finished explaining, Davis devoured and absorbed the memories of Lambert Mistwalker. Countless memories flooded his mind, and he accurately targeted the knowledge of formations, runes, inscriptions, and much more, including Lambert Mistwalker’s acceptance as the Boundless Formation Sage’s fifty-third personal disciple.
Davis didn’t know if such a number was important since these kinds of myths have probably lived for hundreds, if not thousands of years, in the millions.
Regardless, he still didn’t care.
Davis walked towards Layla Mistwalker and bent to her level.
"It makes no difference since I already offended the Mistwalker Family, and you’re my hostage, Layla Mistwalker. As for that sage, if they want to pursue revenge, they’d better think thrice. It’s already a second chance if it’s someone pursuing revenge, and if their ancestor came, that’s an instant death sentence."
Davis waved his hand over his neck and raised his brows as though asking her if she understood.
"I understand."
Layla Mistwalker obediently nodded, not wanting to agitate him.
Davis stood up, returning to Evelynn’s side.
She grasped his hand, shaking her head, "Did you spare the others but kill the most important person of the Mistwalker Family for the children to see?"
Davis couldn’t help but smile at her. He returned a physical soul transmission, "Mainly, yes, but equally because he was infuriating and opportunistically hostile. This trap was supposed to be for Fairy Thunderblaze, but since I got caught, he decided to take advantage, thinking it would succeed. Even after I gave him a few chances, he didn’t take them, so there’s no point in such a life remaining alive."
Evelynn nodded, "I also found him displeasing. It felt good to get rid of someone like that, someone who thinks they’re far above being killed. I guess he thought that you would exchange him again even if he ends up defeated."
"Precisely." Davis nodded. After he looked through Lambert Mistwalker’s memories, it was pretty much clear.
"Such vermin needs to be eradicated."
He turned to look at the thunderous horizon. The arcing lightning strikes that came down to strike them were deflected by their flying ship’s spatial bubble.
