Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4539: New Inmates

Chapter 4539: New Inmates

Evelynn and Myria were shocked over Davis killing a supreme genius.

These were existences that could not be easily killed since they would risk offending a major power. Considering their own status, it was best if they didn’t turn the entire world into their enemies, so Davis mostly restrained himself, and his character was such that he was reasonable enough to give leeway to those who offended him as long as they weren’t insidious or overly hostile.

But this time around, it seemed like he couldn’t digest Lambert Mistwalker’s attitude. Even if he was the most promising and powerful supreme genius of the Mistwalker Family, he wasn’t given any chances after the opportunity passed.

It was an instant slaughter.

Now they saw him grab Layla Mistwalker by the neck as the formation collapsed in on itself, unable to function as the area needed to be sealed for the resonance to be gathered and loop back into a powerful attack every time.

This formation’s weakness was very clear in Myria’s eyes. A sword cultivator or a cultivator with an extremely focused and sharp attack would be able to pierce through. She didn’t know where they actually got the confidence to suppress Zenova Artoria using this formation, since she felt like Zenova could pierce through this formation with lightning-based piercing attacks.

’Perhaps the core is lightning-attributed, allowing the formation to be resistant against lightning attacks...’

She wondered, taking to the skies as she tried to locate the Primarch Grade resource used as the core.

"Kill me..."

Layla Mistwalker barely breathed, veins appearing over her head as Davis clenched her neck. He barely used any strength, but she was already suffocating, unable to breath heaven and energy while the circulation inside her body was suppressed.

"Beg for it." Davis simply said.

He inclined his head, appearing amused before he shook his head, "Perhaps I’ll let you live because you weren’t running your mouth off like Lambert Mistwalker. You’re my prisoner now, but I won’t toy with you, so answer a few of my questions and I’ll let you live for now."

Davis let her go, causing Layla Mistwalker to drop to her knees and reel back as she gasped for air.

She had never been held by such a monstrous grip in her life, causing her to touch her neck and see if he had implanted anything.

She glanced at Lambert Mistwalker’s headless, dead body that was floating.

Even their ancestor’s soul didn’t manifest here, but she didn’t find it surprising since it was already known that the killmark or the watchful souls of the Ancestors didn’t awaken here since they were heavily suppressed by the laws of this secret realm.

Hence, if the Divine Emperor of Death killed every Mistwalker here, then no one would know who eliminated them all.

She doubted the Heavenshades would leak this matter since they seemed to be in cahoots with the Divine Emperor of Death, so she couldn’t understand.

"Where is Lyra Mistwalker?" Davis asked.

"..." Layla Mistwalker’s heart froze.

She knew she couldn’t lie in front of him since he possessed Heart Intent.

"She’s with the other team- watching over the Earth Dragon Villainess."

"Oh, you were all planning on hunting my Isabella, too?" Davis’s gaze turned cold.

"No, we make plans and move based on how the Earth Dragon Villainess moves. We don’t want to meet halfway or encounter her since we determined that she can break this formation."

Davis glared at her before he nodded with a smile, "That’s good to hear, but I also know if the opportunity presents itself, you won’t hesitate to deal with her, so that’s your second chance going off the table. Make sure you don’t mess up with the next question."

Layla Mistwalker trembled, her entire body feeling cold as the aura of death slowly wisped around her.

Davis proceeded to ask a few more questions about Wrathful Aeons Shard Region’s locations, dangers, risks, powerful beings, current whereabouts of Isabella and his other women, even Zenova’s, and finally took her spatial ring, removing half of her treasures as spoils before he threw it back to her.

He did the same thing for the other heavenly geniuses. They weren’t supreme geniuses, but their prowess was either five or six levels higher. Unless they could encounter their own lucky chances, they were destined to be lackeys to the supreme geniuses.

Along with Lambert Mistwalker’s loot, he collected a total of thirty-four Primarch Grade resources. Lambert Mistwalker possessed a total of twenty two while Layla Mistwalker possessed twenty-four. She had more than Lambert Mistwalker, which was a surprise to him.

Regardless, most of them were Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources, making him nod with approval. They were so nice enough to deliver valuable resources to him.

Finally, he turned to look at Layla Mistwalker, who looked defeated and withdrawn.

She appeared silent, but Davis could sense the immense fear she had of him.

Davis opened his mouth, "Intelligent, graceful, and gentle, but made only one mistake. which was abandoning me- was how Lest Mistwalker described you. I suppose he had a crush on you from a young age, so I guess I’ll bring him to you as a souvenir. That will allow him to work hard for my Davis family."

"..." Layla Mistwalker narrowed her brows, "I’m betrothed to Lambert..."

"Oh?" Davis turned to look at the headless body, "You’re half a widow already?"

He returned his gaze, trying to sense hatred, but couldn’t. It seemed like it was an arranged marriage type of thing. He shrugged.

"Who cares? It is Lest Mistwalker’s business. From my viewpoint, you seem to possess the Phyletic Law of Formations, which I’m interested in hearing about and possibly learn, so let’s speak as we travel."

He waved his hand, sending her to Evelynn, whose third eye opened, and she cast a Sealing Hex on her. A blue light shone over Evelynn’s forehead, and Layla Mistwalker’s heart instantly sank. Her cultivation was instantly sealed.

If she got hit by a powerful lightning or threatened by the resonating sound that over-arched her body’s physical and soul’s mental threshold, she wouldn’t survive.

She already knew she was at the mercy of the Divine Emperor of Death, but now even some sort of phenomenon in this dangerous region could take her down.

As for the rest of the heavenly geniuses, Davis knocked them out and threw them into his life ring, inside a special prison that sealed their cultivation and extracted their energy. They had bought it using Mingzhi’s Obsidian Firmament, their new and comprehensive intelligence network that almost spread to all forty-eight Lower Realms and many celestial bodies.

Then the three of them left towards where Isabella was last seen, according to the Mistwalkers.

Azariel and the others were greatly surprised, as they seemed to be heading in the right direction by coincidence. They looked at their father, wondering if it was really coincidental. Nonetheless, they had appeared on their father’s boat, intending to listen to what Layla Mistwalker had to say about the Phyletic Law of Formations.

"Inscribe without flaw, shape with purpose, and execute with Intent."

Layla Mistwalker opened her mouth. Only after five whole minutes did she calm down enough to talk.

"Elementary Obscure Intent - Runic Precision."

She uttered, heaving a light sigh, "At this level, the runes used to inscribe in materials used in formations attain enlightenment, gaining hyper-attuned control over individual runes and inscriptions, allowing near-perfect execution. They perceive errors and energy inefficiencies on a precise level and are able to correct them instantly."

"This means it is nearly impossible to be wrong about the runes you have comprehended and created, making you a terrifying force in the realm of formation masters."

"Oh, indeed a force to be reckoned with." Davis nodded, "The more completed the runes are, the difficult it is to break them. I suppose that offensive entrapment formation was created by you. It is good to have confidence in it, but how did you think that I would not be able to break it?"

"After all, if you think my Isabella could break it, then I would also be able to do it."

Davis uttered with an amused expression on his face.

"It’s not so simple, for I have achieved Lattice Sense, the Level One Obscure Intent of Formations. At this level, I am able to see invisible threads in space. This level grants awareness of lattice structures, the true hidden frameworks of formations. Formation masters of this level can detect the flow of nodes, resonating nodes, and spatial potential for perfect eunic placement, even within chaotic environments. This will allow them to not only create a formidable formation but also dismantle an opponent’s formation by easily seeing through flaws."

Layla Mistwalker explained with a complicated expression, "Simple brute force can’t destroy such a formation even if it’s the power of Chaos Laws."

Kneeling, she turned to look at him, "However, it is different for the Earth Dragon Villainess since she has mastered the art of shattering space at a minute level. Her Rumbling Laws is alone a threat, but combined with her new powers, I doubt even you could match prowess with her prowess, Divine Emperor of Death."

"..."

Everyone unwittingly smiled.

Davis also couldn’t help but smirk, his expression full of pride. It didn’t matter that Layla Mistwalker thought that way since his true prowess was not known to the wider world.

Instead, they were proud that Isabella could actually make Layla Mistwalker and other supreme geniuses think that way.
