SSS Ranked Awakening: Starting With My Limitless Cosmic Shadow System

Chapter 0093: Infiltration

The night passed by peacefully, and soon, morning had arrived.

Modret spent the previous night cultivating and increasing his control of mana while strengthening himself.

In that manner, the night passed peacefully. However, Modret was worried about Angel internally. After all, the little girl had just lost her sister. If they left her alone, who knew what she might do?

The moment he opened his eyes from cultivation, he glanced at the little girl. Her eyes were already wide awake, staring at him curiously.

"How was your night, Angel?" Modret restrained his aura and asked, standing up and stretching his limbs outwardly.

"Fine, I guess…" After replying, the little girl fell silent, and a downcast expression appeared on her face.

After a long deliberation, Modret finally made a decision internally.

He stepped out of the hut in light steps, and the first thing he noticed was Axel gazing into the distant snowy expanse, his expression still cold as always.

As soon as he sensed Modret's presence, he let out a breath, and his gaze shifted to Angel.

Modret approached him and said in a barely audible voice,

"I'll go explore the place alone while you watch over Angel."

"Young Master! That place is too dangerous!" Axel trembled in disbelief at Modret's daring words.

Modret sighed. "There's no one to watch the little girl. Who knows what she might do while we are away? Or perhaps, what if she encounters danger? I can only entrust this to you. Don't worry about me. I'll be able to take care of myself. This time is unlike before, and if there's any immediate danger, I can just fly out of there."

Although his words were reasonable, it took Axel a long time to accept.

Ultimately, he relented after countless persuasions from Modret.

"Angel, I'll be going out for a bit. Axel will stay with you in the meantime." Modret ruffled the little girl's hair gently.

Angel's eyes grew wide as she stared at Modret. "Where are you going, Uncle?"

"Just to explore the scenery," Modret replied with a laugh.

"Then… take me with you?"

"No, it's going to be a really long walk."

Angel fell silent briefly, her eyes flickering with contemplation and deep thoughts. After a long while, she finally forced a smile.

"Please take care of yourself, Uncle."

"Of course I will." Modret nodded and pinched Angel's cheeks gently, then his figure vanished from their location, leaving Axel and Angel behind.

Axel thought back to the time he spent with his sisters and all the methods he used to cheer them up when they were a little sad, and he started using them to lighten the mood for the little girl.

'Speaking of which… I should go see my sister after we're done here. I should talk to Young Master about it. I have to see the state my parents are in as well…' Axel's eyes flickered with contemplation as he brought the little pieces of rock he could find toward Angel.

"This game is called…"

Meanwhile, after Modret had left Axel and Angel, he followed the direction Axel had given him and finally arrived at the location of the ice mountain, surrounded by three celestial gates.

His eyes were alert as he scanned the surroundings, already knowing about the frequency of the guards' patrol in the premises.

He stared at the mountain built of ice, and he could even see the glass-like structure from afar that was emitting a chill.

The chill drifted up into the clouds, condensing and forming more clouds that blocked the direct light of the sun from reaching the location and melting the ice mountain.

'How interesting…' Modret exclaimed internally, then shifted his attention, scanning the surroundings and noticing the mechanism structured above.

He felt terrifying pressure press down on him the moment he approached, and he could roughly ascertain that the pressure was no less than the one he faced in the Endless Abyss.

'The realm above Universe Level?' Although Axel had told him about this, Modret didn't completely believe him.

But now, sensing that pressure himself, he was slightly startled.

Sensing the pressure, Modret paused in his movements. Then, after more deliberation, he sneaked into the encirclement of awakened beasts.

Outside, he could see a multitude of awakened beasts patrolling through the place as though they were checking something out.

He could see their alert gazes scanning the surroundings suspiciously for any issues.

He waited for a group of nine awakened beasts who were at the Cosmos and Galaxy Realm to pass before heading deeper into the towering structure that seemed like a pyramid.

Just as Axel had told him, inside the mountain was spacious. The loud shouts of the awakened beasts entered his ears.

His eyes finally landed on the arena, and a stupefied expression appeared on his face.

'Humans? No… half-humans…' Modret instantly realized that the combatants on stage were half-humans, half-awakened beasts.

Due to the fact that they didn't belong to any race, they were being treated as tools for entertainment by the intelligent awakened beasts.

Shifting his gaze from the two half-humans who were battling, his eyes landed on the yellow crystal they were fighting over.

'It… can't be!' Modret exclaimed internally, recognizing what exactly the treasure was.

His eyes moved toward the treasure, and a stunned expression appeared on his face.

His guess wasn't wrong!

It was truly the treasure he had absorbed back at the Celestial Gate within that city!

'Then those Celestial Gates…' Modret recalled the three Celestial Gates surrounding the city.

'Are they obtaining these treasures from there?' Modret's eyes flickered with profound thought.

Calming himself, his eyes shifted to the beast that looked like a bull.

It was the creature in charge of distributing the treasure, and the pressure it radiated was that of an awakened beast far above the Universe Realm.

'Could it be due to absorbing this treasure that its strength has increased by so much?' Modret approached a guess internally.

Unable to come to a conclusion on the matter, his eyes shifted to the other remaining beasts.

There were three in particular, beside the bull-like awakened beast, and their auras weren't in the least bit inferior to the bull.

'I can't deal with them…' Modret understood in his mind.

If it was just one awakened beast, he could find a way to deal with it—but four?

That was simply impossible, at least not now.

Many thoughts flickered in his mind as his gaze shifted to the stage.

Both fighters had already begun their battle.
