SSS Ranked Awakening: Starting With My Limitless Cosmic Shadow System

Chapter 0084: Treasure

Modret only took a few minutes to deal with all the Celestials surrounding him before gathering the Celestial Stones.

He shifted his attention, scanning his surroundings, then after a short while, he smiled faintly and began studying the engravings on the wall.

The one in the first Celestial Gate he entered was of people "worshiping" a black sun. The second one, if his memory wasn't failing him, was of humanoid figures being consumed by darkness.

Modret guessed it likely had something to do with "them."

Aside from that, there were also drawings of humanoid figures being consumed by "light," which he guessed was related to the means of clearing the Endless Abyss.

Back then and even now, he wasn't bothered with it, as he didn't want to endanger his life.

His eyes roamed over the rough walls.

This time, there were mountainous creatures and arrows pointed downwards. Above the arrows were drawings of large, ball-like structures.

Aside from that, the drawings seemed centered around… something.

At the center of the engraving was a yellow-painted object, which Modret guessed was most likely a treasure.

"There is a treasure in the midst of this Celestial Gate?" Modret's eyes showed brief realization.

But he didn't completely believe it yet. Rather, he continued scanning his gaze over the drawings.

Beside the jewel in the middle, there were arrows lining the surroundings and drifting into different locations.

"Is the treasure responsible for supporting this Celestial Gate?"

Modret thought back to the other Celestial Gates, and many thoughts surged through his mind. What if there were treasures in those ones as well?

Didn't that mean he had missed out on them?

"Perhaps their writings have faded since this one looks relatively new…"

After completely analyzing everything, Modret glanced around and noticed that Axel had finished dealing with the remaining golem-like Celestials.

"There's likely a treasure within the Celestial Gate…"

Axel glanced around, then raised a brow curiously. "Are there any dangers?"

Modret shook his head, then pointed toward the painting on the wall.

Axel took a step forward and began scanning through the painting.

After a short while, he finally nodded. "In that case…"

"Yeah, let's go and retrieve it. And we also have to keep our eyes out from now, there might be other treasures within these Celestial Gates."

With that, both men immediately began heading toward the inner location of the Celestial Gate.

Just then, Modret paused slightly and raised his hand calmly.

A black fire lotus appeared in his hand, which he thrust forward.

Bang!

A terrifying explosion resounded, ringing out into the surroundings and causing dust and weathered rocks to fragment outward.

Raising his gaze, Modret scanned the empty sky.

"It's just like what's displayed in the engravings on the wall… falling rocks," Modret lampooned internally.

The two continued on their way after the minor interruption.

Ahead, Modret could hear the sounds of more creatures, which he guessed were most likely from the golem-like Celestials.

After crossing over a large boulder-like structure obstructing the path to the depths of the Celestial Gate, they were met with more than ten golem-like Celestials.

There were also six branching caves from which more Celestials were emerging.

Modret scanned the group of Celestials, then his attention shifted to the caves embedded into the wall.

His brows furrowed, then relaxed, and he immediately activated the Fire Elemental Sovereign State.

His aura changed instantly, and black scales appeared on his body, his figure increasing to more than two meters tall.

With a flap of his wings, he cleaved through a Celestial, its rocks splintering outward.

The Celestial crashed to the ground, and wriggling brown veins intersected between the splintered rocks, struggling to bring them back together.

Modret sneered, then waved his palm, causing lightning to crash like a meteor onto the Celestials.

As the rocks weathered under the lightning, Modret released the Null Fire, turning even the rocks to ashes.

The fire spread outward, engulfing the Celestials approaching them and melting their tough, rocky exteriors.

As time progressed, molten liquid began pooling beneath Modret and Axel due to the heat.

Unwilling to waste any more time, Modret executed the same attack as before, his lightning crackling to life and instantly crushing the rocky bodies of the Celestials.

Boom!

The Celestials exploded into fragments, their rocky surfaces splintering outward and sinking into the already pooling molten liquid.

Modret glanced around for a moment after dealing with all the Celestials.

Noticing that all of them had been eliminated, he shifted his attention to the six branching paths.

"Pick anyone and explore. The treasure should be within one of these caves," Modret advised, turning to enter the first cave on his left.

He paused briefly and added, "And remember to remain cautious."

Axel nodded, then entered the cave next to Modret's own.

Modret followed the winding path of the darkened cave, lightning crackling at his fingertips to light the surroundings.

He noticed a few more paintings on the wall; however, they were of no importance.

The paintings looked crude compared to the one outside, and this time the humanoid monsters were painted to be wrapped tightly around brown-colored chains.

Modret didn't understand the meaning, so unable to come to a conclusion, he simply continued on his way.

Gradually, he entered deeper into the cave, occasionally encountering a few more roaming Celestials and swiftly eliminating them.

He walked deeper, not finding anything worth noting, before reaching the end of the cave.

He frowned briefly, then shrugged and walked out calmly before entering the cave two paces away from the one he just explored.

Time passed slowly, and Modret had explored more than three caves before finally entering the last one.

As he walked, he encountered a few more Celestials, eliminating them and heading deeper.

Halfway through, he saw a faint illuminating glow.

"The treasure?" Modret guessed internally and quickened his pace.

With his increased speed, he reached the location of the treasure in no time.

He glanced around, studying the surroundings for any traps or sneak attacks before finally settling his gaze on the treasure hovering in the air.

"What's this?" Modret was cautious.

He walked toward the treasure, his face filled with apprehension, then reached out toward it.

"The City Heads most likely discovered this treasure. Then why didn't they take it?"

Modret's mind was filled with questions, but his curiosity overtook them as he grasped the treasure lightly.

Then, the golden rock vanished into specks of dust and entered his body.

"What?" Modret's eyes widened in shock as he scanned his body for any mysterious changes.

Suddenly, he felt his aura increasing and his presence changing.

"This… this…" Modret's eyes were filled with shock.

His body trembled slightly as he realized his mana was drastically increasing at a devastating pace.

Within a few seconds, he heard the sound of something bursting.

Just like that, he was now at the middle stages of the Galaxy Realm, almost entering the late stages.

A smile surfaced on his lips, and he couldn't help but be filled with immense shock at the uniqueness of the treasure.

"This treasure… I must have more of it!" Modret made a firm decision, clenching his fist.

He cross-checked his body and realized there were no flaws with his breakthrough.

His mana signature wasn't unstable despite the drastic increase, and there was even a slight boost in the output of his abilities.

"Young Master!" Modret was just studying the changes in his body when he heard a loud shout from the distance.

"Axel?" Modret furrowed his brows, then swiftly departed from the cave after scanning the surroundings for a minute.

He rushed out, and the moment he reached the center of the Celestial Gate, he froze.

Because in front of him was someone Modret didn't expect to see.

The lady had dark glasses covering her eyes, and her black hair cascaded over her head, falling over her shoulders, which were wrapped tightly in a fur, body-fitting dress.

She wore dark trousers, and for a moment, just by staring at her appearance, Modret felt he had returned to his days on Earth.

The lady occasionally waved her hand, causing the air around her to fracture as intertwining wind blades cleaved through the air in Axel's direction.

Axel dispersed into shadows, appearing at another location.

The moment Modret emerged from the cave, the lady paused her attacks and shifted her attention to him.

"Modret Axel!" She readjusted her black shades, a small smile playing on her lips.

Modret recalled that she was the lady who had eliminated the bandits, his shadow servants, just a day ago.

He didn't expect to encounter her so soon. After all, he knew he wasn't a match for her, at least not yet.

"It's high time we have a hearty talk as family members."

She walked briskly, her steps light as she approached. "I have a proposal from the family for you, Modret Axarel. Are you willing to accept?"

Modret's eyes flickered with calculations.

Should he engage in a fight with her or hear her out?
