While I did not plan to reveal the Ancient Language, I could not think of anything better than that to hook the people around. Especially Alexandra, who was the most concerned with it.
If it weren't that language. There were sports, arts, special items that Alexandra craved. I reflected on the things that I had prepared to talk to her when I first saw and identified her. Though luckily, I did not need it at all.
Sadly, it also meant that I should rather not let anyone know about the in-game ID that I was about to present to Black Dawn.
Or else, people can make rough links between me and Ezekiel. In turn, through Silva, between me and Mikael. I sighed before turning to Alexandra once again, her lips showing a slight smile while her eyes tried to see through the mask that I was wearing.
Even though Alexandra took me to the dessert section.
"Isn't it the famous Bluepie?"
I took charge of the conversation almost immediately. By charge, I did not mean that I was the only one talking in the conversation, but a method of communication, where I would often explain a few things about the item before asking the rest from the other person.
This way, the other person's interest would be involved while he, or in this case, she, wouldn't be able to notice the shifts of conversation that I would take.
Why was I doing all this?
To reduce her chances of asking for my in-game ID or name. I mean, I do have a fake name present just in case, but it would be far cooler if I didn't need to tell that at all.
Easier said than done, though.
While I kept Alexandra and those around her entangled in conversations, I noticed Silva observing what I was doing. Her smile reached almost to her ears as she barely controlled her giggles. And doing the best thing that I could, that is, ignoring her, I focused on the next guest that came to us.
"Ah! Hello. We were talking about…" and then I subtly found out who the guests were before drifting to a topic that they were good at. Fools as they were, they excitedly began talking about that topic for a few minutes before I changed the topic to something that they had no idea of. It would make them pause before I made way for another guest and repeated the same thing.
In less than 30 minutes, I had engaged in more than 50 conversations, making people feel excited first and then leaving them confused while I kept Alexandra close. By the time 5 more minutes had passed, I was mostly done with the whole thing.
Only about a dozen people were left whom I had not looked into.
Hmmm… that's wrong. I thought as I noticed at least 20 people who were at a distance away from me, not approaching me or Alexandra at all. Among them, there was a certain figure who caught my attention, someone whom I did not expect to meet at all.
How interesting. I thought as I was just about to take a step away from the ladies here. But then…
"Ummm… hello."
A melodious voice, far enchanting than any that I have heard today, echoed in my ears. There was little confidence in it, but the brave stance she was putting made me recall how petite she used to be before.
Aurora. So you were here too, huh? I thought as I looked at the lady in a blue dress, gracefully standing in front of Alexandra, her fingers fidgeting with the pamphlet in her hand.
"Good evening. I… am Miss Angel," she introduced herself with a polite tone. The lustre in her eyes, trying to find hope in the people she was looking at right now, flickered a bit, but then regained its focus as she waited for Alexandra's response.
As obvious as it was, Alexandra spared a few seconds' glance before analyzing the entirety of Aurora at once. She was just that readable. After Alexandra was done, she gave a slight sigh before placing a smile on her face with a slight nod, not even returning the greeting that was presented.
In her eyes, she wasn't someone worth talking to. Hence, it would be better to avoid talking at all.
Well, that's the kind of people they are. I thought before pondering something and then putting a bright smile on my face as I spoke in,
"Good evening to you too, young lady. I am Mr. Anthony… well, I guess everyone knows this at this point, I suppose."
Aurora's dropping eyes slowly gained a sudden lustre as she turned to me, focusing as she was confused for a brief moment. Then, in less than a second, realising the opportunity, she answered with a smile,
"That is true. You did create quite a spectacle. One that is hard to forget."
"Haha. You jest. It was nothing. Anyway," I skimmed at the pamphlet in her hand before slowly gesturing to her to give it to me. Not minding much, she slowly gave it to me, which made me smile as I read her name and Unique ID at least a dozen times in my mind. Committing it to memory as fast as possible.
"Miss. Sapphire. Seems like you got another one, huh? Lucky you," I said, making Alexandra look at me with confusion in her eyes. She turned to the average-looking Aurora, and then to me, who was suddenly paying so much attention to her.
While Black Dawn was an enemy organisation, it was a place of growth as well. Since I can't help her out directly, at the very least, giving her a chance of growth would be fine. I had decided to do the bare minimum I could do for her right now.
Alexandra, who had just dismissed Aurora as a random guest, and Silva, who was barely paying any attention to her at all, were now all looking at her with slight curiosity.
"Quite a lucky find, I must say. You must have practiced a lot," I said to Aurora, fully knowing how much time she had spent learning sword fighting and aikido in her life. It was something that very few could even begin to compete with.
I turned to Alexandra, who observed me. Her eyes seemed to be asking 'Is she really good?' To which I chuckled before I answered with my eyes as well.
'I can vouch for her.'
Hopefully, I have created a strong impression. Enough to make my words carry some weight here. I supposed as I kept the same smile as before while I observed Alexandra attending Aurora with even more curiosity before. She then turned to me, and paused, before she nodded and then took the pamphlet from me and passed it to her partner, Morgan, who kept it in her side pocket.
"Enthusiastic ones are always welcomed," Alexandra added as she finally took note of Aurora. I then looked at the distance, a particular guest at the party, before turning back to the ladies.
"Ladies. Please enjoy your conversations," I said before slowly slipping away from there while they began chatting together. This time much friendlier than before.
"Entra liea mla, Aurora.(See you later my love, Aurora)" I mumbled in Ancient language, low enough for Aurora to hear, making her turn at me, confused as she tried to understand what I had just spoken right now.
But it wasn't time yet. It wasn't the time or the place for us to know each other right now.
Now. Where did I see you… ah! There you are! I thought as I found a person with a familiar body shape and even more similar hair. The way her aloofness stood out made me even more sure this was the same person.
Taking slow steps, as I talked with one guest after another, I moved towards her at a natural pace. What could have been done in less than a minute, took about 10 minutes as I reached the other side of the hall, in a discreet corner where the black-haired girl was standing.
Her eyes observed all those present at the party, analyzing everyone as she tried to find something, someone. I could feel the desperation in her eyes, making me wonder exactly what was going on in that mind of hers.
With slight interest, I moved closer to her, making her notice my approach and gaze. Her eyes shook as she realised I was coming towards her. Observing her as she searched for a way to escape made me chuckle a bit as I reached in front of her, my gaze locked in with hers.
Then, thinking about something, I decided the best way not to make this situation worse would be.
"Young lady. I am missing a partner for the ball. Will it be all right if I were to ask for your hand for a dance?" I requested in a graceful tone, making Raven gulp, as now everyone was glancing at her.
