Tower’s Richest Player: My Coins Won't Stop Increasing

Chapter 173: One hell of a Ruin

-Boooooooooooooooom!

An explosion as soon as they stepped onto the main hall, under the dome filled with all kinds of murals.

-Swish! Swish! Swish!

Then there were arrows from the pillars present all around them.

-Oooooooooooooong!

-Boooooooooom!

Flames, winds, earth magic, all kinds of magic spells were thrown at them, they came even from above.

Things were fine just a moment ago and now, everything has changed. Everything around him was a trap that threatened his life.

However, despite there being explosions, spells, weapons, and arrows, nothing, nothing a single attack managed to reach the targets.

[Temporary effects of item: <Space Compression Cube> are in effect.]

[The space compression target area has been designated successfully.]

In his hands, the blue holographic cube that he just obtained had turned into a flickering light. The space all around him, the walls, the pillars, the ceiling, even the very air that was present here all flickered with certain crystals of blue light which, if seen from up close, were individual cells of what used to be the cube.

"We obtained this item just in time, huh?" The space designation made the entire room that he was in expand spatially, making the point of origin, the cube holder, the new centre of a room that was now six times its original size.

All the explosions that happened, all the spells and weapons that were shot at them never reached the target.

In this expended space, they either crashed to the ground or into the other traps that had been activated at the same time.

KiRA then meticulously used the spatial gaps where the traps weren't effective to pass through the first corridor, entering a pathway that led to the forked path with the doors.

[The item: Space compression cube will now be deactivated.]

[Cooldown time: 00:59:58.]

The permanent use fixed the space of a certain area, but the temporary use allowed him to use the item multiple times after a cooldown.

Since the cube was of a relatively higher rank, the cooldown time wasn't as great as the lower ranked consumable items.

"But that doesn't mean this is some amazing item." KiRA looked behind him and saw the corridor that wasn't affected one bit.

Even though there were so many explosions, even though there were spells hitting the other parts of the place, and even though there were many weapons that had crashed into various other areas, nothing was visible there anymore.

The whole place had returned to what it was, and since none of it was an illusion, there was something strange about this place.

"If the cube could sustain the temporary expansion for a little longer, we would be able to observe the murals and the traps from up close."

If that was possible, then he would have been able to access the traps and deactivate them by destroying the circuits they were connected to.

They were pretty useful in themselves so now that he wasn't inside a dungeon anymore, he wanted these traps, these things that he could actually take with him.

"But that won't be possible with this cube alone." KiRA shook his head and looked ahead at the path that looked better than the trap filled zone.

There weren't any murals in this place aside from the wing patterns drawn on the two sides of the wall.

The wings resembled the white wings he got when using the halo skill, they resembled the wings of an angel.

They were pretty, they were white, and they were carved into the walls with such details that they almost seemed real.

"Hmmm… we don't have to rest so let's move forward." Just in case there was anything dangerous up ahead, he sent Unity ahead first and then moved forward after confirming everything was alright.

The forked path was safe, and the area till the two gates was also normal.

"Where should we go next?" The door to the left or the door to the right. KiRA contemplated for a while but he could not decide.

After thinking for a few minutes, when the cooldown for the cube was over, he chose to open the right side first.

The door was open and he saw a pathway leading to a different place. He opened the other side as well and the result was the same, there was an identical pathway on that side as well.

"Unity?" He did not send Uni ahead this time. There may be dangers ahead so both of them went ahead together.

[{ Master, weren't the Tatar people supposed to be some amazing architects? The dungeon was pretty cool looking but if we think the manager copied most of what's left here, shouldn't there be more to this place than just traps? }]

Unity's sudden question made KiRA realise this place had looked more plain than what he had experienced in most of the advanced runes.

The Tatar runes were some of the most famous runes of all the older civilisations that now exist on the higher floors of the tower.

The people or the Tatar were gifted when it came to architecture and one can obviously see it in these runes they left behind for the people of the future.

The presence of Holy power all around them was the first sign that this, in fact, was a place belonging to the Tatar dynasty and then the trap filled murals.

He had challenged a few of the Tatar runes before and what he found in them had always been more than just traps, monsters, and rewards.

They did not leave these structures behind to kill people, they wanted something more…

"Someone who could carry on their legacy, or perhaps a warrior to finish what they could not." KiRA nodded at Unity and fell in a deep thought as they walked on the empty path on the right side.

There were no traps on this path, and when they crossed over to the other side, they found themselves in a place identical to the first corridor.

"Is this the same place?" KiRA was confused at first, but when he stepped into the corridor and a different set of traps activated this time, his question was answered.

'The places just look similar.'

KiRA used the cube once again to get past the corridor and found himself in a pathway very similar to the previous one.

However, instead of waiting there this time, he sent Unity head to look around and looked behind him at the corridor they had just crossed.

"Hmmm… some of the murals look different." There were very little differences though, so they did not seem all that unique.

If one wasn't sharp enough to identify a red gem in a painting of what seemed like a temple, instead of the blue ones that were present in the previous corridor, they would see the two things as the same.

The differences were very minor, even Unity had missed a few when she first looked around this place.

[{ Master… there are two doors ahead as well. }]

KiRA had a hunch for some reason. He had an idea where this was going as well.

"This might take a while, Uni. We should start recording stuff now." With a recording crystal in his hand, he looked behind at the second corridor, and then moved on to the path with wings on both sides.

The path was identical to the previous one so he left a few markings on the walls and the feathers this time, treating this place as a labyrinth instead of a simple rune.

When he reached the two paths this time, he took the right path once again.

Going through the entire process of passing through the empty path, ending up in a corridor, and facing a bunch or traps once again, he found himself on the other end of the corridor, one that did not have the markings that he left on the previous corridor.

This time, the jewel difference was green instead of red, and there were a few different things that made the place different from the previous one.

"Two paths again?" KiRA already knew what waited for him at the end of this path when he sent Uni there, but while she nodded to his question, there was a bitter smile on her face.

[{ The door to the left side was already open, and when I went in, I ended up in the corridor with the blue gem on the temples. }]

The news threw off his calculation. When he thought about how this was possible, he couldn't really make sense of it at first.

But, when the two of them went through the path this time, took left for the first time, and ended up right where they had started, or at least on the other side of it, there was a visible tension on his face.

The reminder of their day was spent in going through the corridors, pathways, and the forked path with two doors.

They marked up each and every one of the places they found themselves in, reviewed everything they recorded, and spent the following three days just recording the structure of the rune that they were in.

Finally, when they had the place mapped out and looked at it all, there was only one thing that came out of their mouths…

"Holy mother of architects."

[{ This is absurd, master. }]

If they included the start, this rune corridor was made up of six corridors in total. How many pathways were there, they had no idea, how many doors were there, they had no idea either.

But, if they put it in literal terms, the left door of the first corridor was connected to the fourth corridor, the left door of the second corridor was connected to the right door of the fifth corridor, the left of the fifth was connected to the left of the sixth while the right of the sixth was connected to the left of the sixth.

It was complicated… and more than that, there was no actual exit in any of these six corridor.

"We are trapped in here."

Meaning, they were fucked for the time being.
