Homestead Survival

103: Overlook Arrival

<01 September 2024, GRAND MESA OF SUMMER, A+> [Theo and Julia] Theo had just finished laying out his sixth planned field, and the sun was about two-thirds of the way across the sky when a horn was blown, and Theo looked to where it had come from. He saw a familiar sky-ship approaching.

Theo was quickly joined by Julia, Ordus, and Kreldar. They all walked over to where the ship had landed last time, Theo and Julia holding a quick conversation about what they were willing to sell.

By the time they got to the ship, it had landed, and five people were walking off, followed by Borgan. Borgan nodded to Theo. "Five people delivered in one piece and equipped with the gear they need to survive here. I also heard you might need some materials."

"We do, but first, what is the bill?" Theo asked.

"Yes, transport of five people at fourteen gold per person comes out to seventy gold, but I was quite tickled with the antics of Sarah and as she is a minor, I will only charge half price for her, so sixty three gold." Borgan said, "then we have four Mana Overpressure Resistance Bands rated for A-Plus mana density, and one month of use, costs six gold, seven silver, and fifteen copper apiece. All together, the bands cost twenty-four gold, twenty-eight silver, and sixty copper. That brings your total to ninety-four gold, twenty-eight silver, and sixty copper."

Theo retrieved the Mana Condenser blueprint out of his pouch, "and how many of these would we need to make a safe area for them to be able to train in? And how much would it cost for the materials? Actually hold on..."

Theo trailed off as he thought for a moment, looking at the list of materials needed. Required Materials: Crystalized Mana: 1-5 Stone Fragments: 5 Magically Charged Fibers of any kind: 7-10 Aetheric Glass: 1 Mana Bound Disc: 1-2

Theo thought for a moment, "Alright, Crystalized Mana, don't have it. Used the one piece we had on the monster processor. We have plenty of stone fragments from the Runestone Bricks. We have the spools of moon thread, so I am going to assume that it can be used in place of the Magically Charged Fibers. I have no idea what Aetheric Glass is. And we will need the Mana Bound Disc."

"So, actually, how much for the required Crystalized Mana, Aetheric Glass, and Mana Bound Discs?" Theo asked.

Borgan nodded, "Crystalized Mana comes in at roughly a gold per unit. Aetheric Glass is ten silver per square foot. Mana-bound discs vary depending on what metal you use. But in all honesty, you can probably make them quite easily. So you would really just need the Crystalized Mana and Aetheric Glass. So if you assumed that you need four Mana Condensers, you would need twenty Crystalized mana, and four Aetheric Glass, that would cost you, twenty gold, twenty-eight silver, and sixty copper."

"So the total would come to one hundred fourteen gold, forty-two silver, and eighty copper," Julia said. Borgan nodded, and Julia looked thoughtful. She asked Theo to pull something out and then showed it to Borgan. "Would you be interested in a Purified Spirit Core?"

Borgan nodded. "I would, I am interested in everything. As stated before, my prices will be within five percent of the System price."

He reached out and touched the Spirit Core. Then he took a sharp breath. "Oh, truly purified, no aspect, no taint, no corruption. Interesting. The System values this item at one hundred seventeen gold, eighty-one silver, and eleven copper. I will offer one hundred twelve gold."

"Done," Julia said and handed Borgan the Spirit core.

Theo handed him the remaining two gold, forty-two silver, and eighty copper. Borgan nodded and quickly brought out the goods they had purchased. Theo put them into his pouch.

"Very well," Borgan said, "I shall be here for a few more hours, then it will be some time until I return."

"Well, let's go ahead and get five more mattresses and two sets of clothes for each of them," Julia said. "Then I am good."

"I would be interested in any seeds native to Earth that you have," Theo said.

"Ah, I have many seeds, but not any that are from Earth," Borgan said, radiating embarrassment. "I was actually hoping to acquire some of those here so that I could begin the process of building a market for them and getting someone to produce them."

"Fair enough, if I find any seeds, I'll try and save some to trade with you," Theo said.

"I would appreciate that," Borgan said, turning away from Theo and Julia and walking back to his ship to fetch the mattresses, which Theo put in his pouch, paying an additional twenty-eight gold, forty silver, and five copper for the mattresses.

Theo and Julia quickly split their currency so that they each had half the money. Leaving them each with seventeen gold, eighty-one silver, and fifty copper, Theo having fifty-one copper.

Julia looked at her Hand of Gold, "We should ask Borgan about the Mana Touched Silver Shards that we got from the cache in the valley."

"We should, but let's go check the others first," Theo said.

Theo and Julia walked over to where Joshua and the others were waiting. "Well, hello again. Real fast, if any of you want to buy anything, Borgan will be leaving in a couple of hours."

They all decided to go and check in one last time with Borgan. Theo and Julia waited until the end for everyone else to be content with their purchases. Borgan radiated happiness, "Lord and Lady Sorrin, how may I help you?"

"We would ask you about these," Julia said, causing a Mana Touched Silver Shard to appear in her hand.

Borgan held out a hand, and Julia dropped it in. Borgan hummed in surprise. "Hmm, that is interesting. These are an old form of currency. I don't know how old they are, but they are still around. Right now, the exchange rate is twenty gold to one shard. But even that is mostly due to there being rumors that the shards can somehow be used to improve Skills."

"Well, thank you," Julia said, taking the shard back. "That is all I needed. Theo?"

"Nope, I'm good. Have a good one, Borgan!" Theo said as the being climbed into his ship and the door began closing, only moments before the ship lifted off.
