A Blunt Sword and a Broken-hearted Villager

Ch. 3

Chapter 3: Black Iron Species

Just after Bray had fiercely talked back to the uncle, two fully armed prison guards walked down the corridor of the prison.

“You and you.” One of the tall guards pointed at Bray, and then at the uncle.

It seemed they were about to be pushed onto the execution ground.

Bray suddenly clenched his fists and scanned his surroundings.

——"I don't want to die" this was the thought that filled Bray's mind.

Nonsense, who the hell would want to die.

To be inexplicably thrown in jail, and then executed for a crime he didn't commit, such a life was too terrible.

“Look, an airship!!!!” Bray said abruptly, then fiercely broke free from the guard's restraint.

“Pa!” a dull thud.

“Do you take me for an idiot! Bastard!” The guard was furious, someone actually used such a method to distract others?

Bray was beaten to the ground.

As expected, trying to escape from prison empty-handed was a very difficult thing.

The soldiers were unexpectedly strong, as expected, novels writing soldiers as cannon fodder were all lies.

---

However, while Bray and the prison guard were arguing in the prison, outside the prison, that is, on the ground level of the fortress, a strange change occurred.

A purple fluorescence lit up on the ground of the entire fortress.

The dazzling brilliance made even the sentries on the fortress watchtowers lose their senses.

The purple light drew a circle, and the circle was filled with elegant patterns.

The warden, wearing an iron helmet, looked at the light at his feet, then at the sentry who was frantically blowing his whistle, not knowing what to think.

“Warden!!! Something major has happened!!!”

“My eyes aren't blind.” The warden punched the reporting guard to the ground.

“What the hell is all this…”

Just as the warden was bewildered, the light on the entire ground instantly disappeared.

The sound of poetry being recited echoed around.

The warden had also been to those churches, and this voice was very similar to when those religious fanatics chanted.

But there was no one around…

“Hmm, why is it dark?”

Finding that it had suddenly become dark around him, the warden found it very strange.

“Boom——” A huge explosion then erupted.

Then the warden lost all consciousness.

---

——"My vision is so dim…"

——"My eyes hurt so much…"

Bray fumbled on the ground. Just when he was arguing with the guard, the ceiling of the prison suddenly collapsed.

“That really hurts...” Bray propped himself up, covering his face.

Bray's mind felt a little groggy.

Hurting so much that he couldn't even think, that was probably the situation.

But now Bray's vision was very blurry, it seemed something was wrong.

Then the next moment, a sharp pain shot straight to his brain.

“Ahhhhhhh!”

“My eyes hurt so much!!!” Bray reached for his eyes, where there seemed to be an empty space.

Waves of pain assaulted his brain, and Bray lay on the ground rolling, unable to do anything.

“Pa.” Bray seemed to have pressed on some disgusting thing.

“So it's an eyeball…”

“I hope it's not my eye.”

Bray touched his left eye, which had no eyeball, and gave a bitter smile.

Not to mention, he still felt a little nauseous now, it was really fortunate that it was dark around and he couldn't see clearly.

Bray's pain continued, even smiling was very difficult.

So he put away his smile and clenched his teeth. He suddenly had great admiration for those people who didn't make a sound even when seriously injured.

“Unlucky.”

——"But it's very strange."

——"Why would the eyeball be gone."

His brain, which had stopped due to the severe pain, started working again.

Such an injury was too incredible.

If his hands and feet were broken by the impact, Bray would not have any doubts.

But this eyeball seemed to have been completely gouged out, which was really strange.

“…”

Besides his eyes, other parts of his body also hurt a lot, but at least he wasn't seriously injured.

He scrambled to his feet. The prison originally had torches for light, but now it was pitch black.

His vision was not good now either, Bray could only rely on touch to move forward.

He didn't know how long it would take to get used to this kind of vision.

“Bang——” Bray kicked something.

Squatting down to feel it, he found that it was actually armor.

“Farewell, big brother…”

But as Bray said this, he felt a warmth on his face.

“Is it blood from my eye socket…” Bray wiped his hand full of blood, the smell of blood making him feel a wave of helplessness.

It was finally starting to bleed.

If this continued, he might bleed to death.

Bray tore his prison uniform and wrapped it around his left eye where the eyeball was missing.

“…”

The dirty prison uniform made the original wound even more painful.

It might even get infected because of this…

But compared to dying from excessive blood loss now, an infection or whatever was not a big deal.

A large amount of blood instantly stained the cloth red.

Bray touched the cloth and couldn't help but sigh.

“Sticky…”

A pair of dead fish eyes… oh no, one dead fish eye drooped its eyelid, making Bray look as if he was about to die at any moment.

The pain did not ease in the slightest with time.

The severe pain made cold sweat drip down like pearls from Bray, his face was so pale it was pitiable.

But he was actually able to be so calm…

Did he really have a talent for being an adventurer?

“Rumble!!!” A deafening roar came from beside him.

The buried prison was smashed through by something.

Dust rose up, making it even harder for Bray, whose eyesight was now poor, to see what had smashed through the prison.

However, because the prison wall was broken, outside light shone in, allowing Bray to better find a path.

Dragging his body, Bray arduously approached the place that was broken through.

“Yo…” After hearing the greeting, Bray was stunned.

“You're not dead?” It turned out that the one who smashed through the wall was his previous cellmate, that uncle.

“What a coincidence, you're not dead either?” The uncle smiled, looking as if nothing had happened.

“Black Iron Species, you damn ant! Get out here!!!!!!” The terrifying roar from outside made me instantly sit on the ground.

Then, purple flames ignited around Bray and the uncle.

Bray was startled and retreated abruptly, but found that there were similar flames behind him as well.

But the next moment, the uncle got up from the rubble and waved his knife.

The flames were extinguished without a sound.

“Bronze Species are really troublesome…” the uncle complained.

“Black Iron,” “Bronze,” terms that had never appeared in Bray's worldview popped out.

Don't tell me there's also Gold and Silver.

“Well, we humans are the Black Iron Species, and the big guy outside is a Bronze Species.”

“Sorry, sorry, I seem to have said something I shouldn't have.” The uncle tapped his own forehead and laughed a few times.

“But ah... actually it seems you are qualified to know these things.”

The uncle shrugged and answered in a casual tone, finally uttering a word, his voice so muffled that Bray couldn't hear it clearly.

It would take time to explain in detail, but the uncle didn't think there was any extra time to explain.
