The Gourmet Innkeeper: Cooking Monsters in a Fantasy World

Chapter 102: New Buys!

Hey, hey. He could totally buy a new skill now! Also, a lot of other things!

But before he did that, he figured he should once again increase his liquid funds as much as he could.

He looked at the plates and the excess servings he had made on purpose.

Now that he had helpers, he didn't have to worry about the dishes and rearranging things anymore. On the other hand, for surface cleaning, he only had to use the [Auto Swipe] function, which included the furniture as well.

Anyway, he could now make 5 Class D dishes, and then an accepted variation in the [Hearth Market] each. So that was 10 dishes and up to 3 copies each.

As such, after the customers turned in for the night, the staff members had yet to end their work day.

The two goblins continued to handle the meat, the bones, and the skin for him. He only had to teach them the proper cut, and they were already quite good. They used his dagger, and Ren also lent them one, so the mountains of corpses were estimated to be handled within the day.

The inn was well-lit even at night (something the three lads and the goblins marvelled on), so they had no problem with visibility at all.

Looking at all the animal skin, he decided he'd activate [advanced tailoring] for Ranran as well now that he wasn't lacking Hearth points.

Anyway, while they were handling the meat, Finn was busy preparing every ingredient. They still had plenty from the haul last night.

He did everything he had done before. Whether it was the citrus-pepper roast, crisped brindlejaw fat, Braised brindlejaw, and so on. He made dozens of servings, plating a few of them well for maximum presentation and profitability.

Most of all: For his pride as a chef.

His customers through the [Hearth Market] were from different worlds, too. He wasn't about to shame his, er, dimension!

Like this, he earned quite a bit of gold from selling a variety of dishes. Top this with the few dishes he sold the past day or so, and he knew he had a bit of gold to spend now.

He stretched his arms as he looked at his status.

Ah, so satisfying. It was particularly satisfying to make money from doing something you love. How many others could be so lucky?

Now, even in another world, he could still fulfil that dream. Combined with the dream he had with his parents—the Inn—Finn thought his life wasn't too bad at all.

Anyway, one of the things he bought was one of the things he had been drooling after.

[Purchased! Cellar! -70 Gold, -70 Hearth Points]

[Cellar]

[Information: Underground space ideal for storing perishable items, casks, preserved goods, and the like. Can reduce spoilage of food-related items by 30%. May be upgraded to include fermentation and cold storage.]

Fermentation and cold storage in the future? What kind of chef would he be if he didn't buy this?!

Sadly, he hadn't met the conditions to upgrade them yet, but knowing they would be magically possible someday would be heaven-sent.

Maybe his ice cream could happen? His wines? Soy sauce? And countless other things would be possible with this. He was giddy with excitement, and he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep even if he jumped on the bed right now.

He felt a shift in the air, but like before, the changes were relatively isolated, so it didn't bother the guests.

He ran to check, and it was just a normal cellar with stone walls and floors, and wooden ceilings. It was naturally empty for now—but not for long!

So, he further curled his sleeves back and held his precious knife. "Time to cook more until I can't anymore!"

They placed half of the remaining meat in the cellar, while the rest…he would prepare to sell in the future. With the preservation function of the new building, a lot of things could be reused!

He really wanted so many things to do, and it was depressing not to have enough money!

He wanted more gardens, he wanted his weapons, equipment, and more of those repellents so he could go farther and forage more!

And so, for most of the night (he asked the goblins to rest already, though they insisted on helping him out for a few more hours), they made tons of jerky as well as meals that could be sold to the guests on a later day!

The next day, the mercenaries were set to leave early, before the crack of dawn. Because Finn stayed up late to handle the meat well and earn money, he wasn't able to wake up to see them off.

Fortunately, he had already prepared their meal before he fell asleep just a few hours prior.

The previous night, they made a request to eat the same thing they had the previous breakfast—the thornroot flat bread and shredded meat. They also asked if they could take some to pack because they were quite convenient to eat on the road. They promised to eat it nearer the safe zones so even if they attracted beasts, it wouldn't be a number they would struggle to fight with.

The lunchboxes were made of wood by Tumble. They were relatively decent. Though he still hadn't received the carpentry skills, the system judged him to have this talent, and Finn could see why.

This was his treat, also because most of the meat he got was from them. He also added jerky as well as some crisps to add to their food.

"This looks so good…" Aaron said, checking out their lunchboxes after eating breakfast. Would he look too childish if he ate them all?

Zach, on the other hand, stared at his room door before shifting his attention to his favorite critter ever, Pang.

"He's asleep, huh?" Zachary asked, looking at the Panda who was sending them off. It looked cute as it just sat on the front desk counter and stared at them.

He kneaded its head. It felt nice.

Ren shook his head with a smile, though he ended up patting the Panda's head as well. "Well, tell the Innkeeper we're heading out and thanks for everything. We will visit again soon."

Finn, who was half-asleep, was partially woken up by some notifications.

Ding!

"Ah, they already left…" Finn mumbled, groggy.

He got more than 200 points because they spent 2 days, and there seemed to be extra points the longer they stayed in succession. He smiled. Glad that they enjoyed their stay, at least.
