The man jumped off the 300 metres tall wall and crashed on the ground picking up stone and dust.
The four rank 3 spiders retreated 30 kilometres away. The dust cleared and the man appeared, his stone axe in hand.
The giant black spiders eight golden eyes glowed and she screeched. The man kicked off the ground and flew at her, the air exploded around him.
His fur boots lit up with green arrays, wind spun around his feet and he turned into a streak of light moving as fast as the wind.
' Artefacts' Ved thought, they were the beast kings greatest regret. For some reason they weren't as effective on beasts as they were on humans.
That doesn't mean they were useless, a sword would still be sharp in a beasts hands, a shield would still have it defensive capabilities.
However they wouldn't provide the physical enhancements they somehow had on humans, it was as if the heavens were trying to limit the beasts.
According to the legends, it was because the law of weapons was created by Adam, the father of men when he invented the first stone tool.
Since the weapon was created to defend against beasts, it denied them to right to wield it. Other races, especially humanoid races born later than beasts and humans can use artefacts better than beasts, although not as effectively as humans.
So obviously beasts were the only exception. This allowed humans to breach the gap in physical attributes by relying of the physical enhancement of artefacts.
Like right now, with the boots, this human moved so fast, he would probably be able to keep up with Ved's avatar if Ved wasn't using the first order extinguishing tribulation lightning to boost his speed.
The man arrived above the giant spider like a shadow, his axe descended upon her head like a guillotine.
In response she created a net above her to block the axe then jumped back. She was slower than he was but her web was incredibly strong.
It managed to block the axe long enough for her to dodge, his axe hit the ground and split it apart, creating a huge rift.
Her web shot out and turned into huge hands that tried to crush him. He didn't dare to take them head on and dodged.
Dozens of hands crashed on the ground creating massive craters, the ground shook like there was an earthquake for tens of kilometres.
He swung his axe and cut off the web hands but they regenerated a moment later. He spun mid and and raised his axe to the sky.
" World Cleaver," he shouted and his stone axe glowed with golden light and he swung it down.
The world bent around it and the sound of ripping paper echoed for hundreds of kilometres.
A golden crescent slash flew out and cleaved towards the spider. It appeared to be moving slowly but it reached her in a blink of an eye.
' Hoh, interesting.' Ved realised this attack probably would be able to break through his defences.
The queen of spiders jumped to the side and the slash cut off two of her left legs. She screeched in pain and green corrosive blood flowed out of the wounds.
The slash continued and cleaved a massive rift on the ground that stretched for over 70 kilometres.
It was so deep light did not even reach the bottom. The spiders legs grew back a moment later.
She glared at the man with eight eyes blazing with fury. " Give up queen of spiders, you'll never be able defeat me."
She responded, although she directed her will transmission at only him, Ved was able to hear her due to his stronger will.
' Do not be so smug human, if it were not for your weapons I would've killed you long ago.' the man laughed.
" You can make all the excuses you want but it won't change anything." She growled, green acid balls appeared around her and she shot them at him like cannons.
His boot lit up and he ran around dodging the barrage of acid. Wherever the acid touched, the ground burnt creating deep holes, the surrounding soil died.
Ved was certain nothing would ever grow there for a long time. Their fight continued but Ved could tell they were both wary of each other.
Neither were going all out, Ved was certain since they were yet to even use their soul force.
The man swung his axe at her over and over again, creating deep ridges all over the ground.
The entire battlefield was filled with scars, there were even old ones, obviously this was not their first fight and he doubted it would be their last.
Hundreds of web tentacles a metre thick shot to the sky from her. Each tentacle spiralled around itself at their tip forming a drill like edge.
Then they started spinning like a drill and shot the at the man. His axe glowed gold, he swung it horizontally sending a wide crescent slash at the tentacles.
The slash only managed to cut a few dozen before it disappeared. The rest continued stabbing at him, forcing him to dodge, the ground shattered around him sending stone flying like bullets.
He jumped into the air to dodge but it was a trap, Ved smiled, ' She's smarter than I thought.'
The man noticed the trap a bit too late, a tentacle hit him on the stomach. His fur coat lit up, a thin barrier appeared around him to block the attack.
It saved his life but he was still sent flying back and coughed up blood. The people on the city wall looked pale with worry.
The man crashed on the ground and continued rolling, drawing a hundred metres long trench with his body. He stood up and wiped the blood off his mouth.
He touched his stomach and grimaced, " That fucken hurt. I guess I should return the favour."
He raised his axe, golden light spilled out of it and filled the air. The spider looked tense, web flew out of her and gathered on the ground around her forming a giant pool of web fluid.
The golden light shot to the sky and a gigantic golden axe over a kilometre long appeared in the sky above him.
Then it dropped like a guillotine, the winds howled and split the clouds apart. In response, the web around her surged and shifted like a living fluid.
It transformed into a giant white spider that shot to the sky. The spider and axe met mid air, the world seemed to stand still for a moment.
Then mayhem followed, the sky exploded, a massive shockwave blasted out, it was so powerful Ved felt it hit him in the face like a punch.
The sky and the earth roared and shook like there was a massive earthquake. The vibrations were felt for thousands of kilometres.
Deep ridges and giant craters filled the ground, the earth sank and rose creating hills and mountains, rivers shifted and giant lakes formed, the entire landscape for thousands of kilometres changed completely.
Only the city remained safe and stable but the land around it was devastated with cracks that spread for hundreds of kilometres in every direction.
When everything cleared, Ved saw the human standing there, a trickle of blood appeared at the conor of his mouth.
Taking a shockwave this powerful was not easy even for the man who was a rank 4. Any lower ranked being would've died here.
Ved looked around and did not see the spider. His vision stretched and he saw her tens of kilometre running away.
He smiled, ' I suppose I should pay a visit.'
