Becoming a Billionaire after Divorce

Chapter 102 Li Wenwen: Sister-in-law I was wrong!

Xie Moyao frantically pushed Sun Dasheng away and quickly tidied her makeup case and clothes.

Sun Dasheng, however, showed no particular reaction. He couldn't even be bothered to straighten his wrinkled clothes.

To the furiously approaching Li Wenwen, he said, "Your sister-in-law got a few mosquito bites, and I was just applying some ointment. Is there a problem?"

The moment Sun Dasheng spoke, Xie Moyao froze, dumbfounded. How could he say something like that out loud?

From his words, Li Wenwen sensed a faint threat. So what if I said it so bluntly? What can you do about it? Do you dare expose the truth? You're the one who personally pushed your sister-in-law into this mess. If you're not afraid, go ahead and shatter this whole charade.

Indeed, Li Wenwen hesitated. Having just gotten off the phone and seeing the two of them acting all lovey-dovey outside, she had impulsively lost her temper. In fact, she regretted it the moment she opened her mouth. This whole situation was her fault, and there was no way to hide it now. Exposing it herself would just be asking for trouble; wouldn't it only backfire on her in the end?

So, she forced a smile. "Oh, so that's what happened. My apologies, I was being too suspicious. This is my fault, President Sun."

Hearing her sister-in-law's apology, the recently composed Xie Moyao was stunned yet again. What a bizarre day. No one is acting normally. Are they all in on this together just to mess with me?

"Wenwen, if there's nothing else, I'm leaving. I still have things to do," Xie Moyao remarked, her voice noticeably colder.

Li Wenwen assumed her sister-in-law was upset, feeling bitter and unable to speak out after being taken advantage of by that scoundrel. Understandingly, she nodded. "Sister-in-law, if you have things to do, you should go. I'll explain everything about today to you later."

Xie Moyao grunted in acknowledgment, turned, and left, giving no indication whether she had caught the hidden meaning in Li Wenwen's words.

Li Wenwen didn't know if her sister-in-law had caught the hint, but she was sure the man before her had. He was already smiling at her as he spoke.

"What? Are you planning to tell her the whole story when you get back?"

"Heh... Why would I do that? Wouldn't that be like lifting a rock only to drop it on my own foot? I'm not that foolish."

Although Li Wenwen said this, in her heart she had already planned how to phrase things to absolve herself and let this bastard take the fall for everything.

"Interesting. Still trying to fool me?" Sun Dasheng reached out and lifted her chin. "Your little schemes are written all over your face. Did you really think you could hide them from me?"

"Ah?!" That's ridiculous! Is everything I'm thinking really that obvious?

Li Wenwen was dumbfounded.

She suddenly remembered something her father often said: The business world is like a battlefield. Every old fox in it has a keen and perceptive mind. You can't even underestimate a defeated opponent; you must always be on guard against their retaliation.

Could this be the 'keen mind' my father was talking about?

She had always thought her father's words were overly cryptic and had mocked him for being an old-fashioned relic who grew more timid with age. It seems I've underestimated everyone.

Little did she know, she had swung from one extreme to another. A man like him had eaten more salt than she had eaten rice. She was terrible at hiding her feelings, so how could her expressions go unnoticed? Forget Sun Dasheng; any random middle-aged person off the street could probably read her thoughts.

It had nothing to do with some mystical 'keen mind.' That concept was always vague and esoteric.

But she had worked herself into a panic, genuinely believing he possessed such an ability, and surrendered completely. "President Sun, this is all my fault, my mistake entirely. Please, don't take it out on my father."

Stroking her pitiful little cheek, Sun Dasheng clicked his tongue. "What a dutiful and wonderful daughter."

"So, how should I punish you?"

Li Wenwen immediately replied, "I'll accept any beating or scolding without fighting back or talking back."

Sun Dasheng ran his thumb over her red lips. "We live in a civilized society now. Hitting and scolding people is barbaric behavior."

"Are you trying to make me the bad guy?"

"No, it's not like that," Li Wenwen said, shaking her head so frantically it was like a blur.

"Oh? Then what is it like?"

"It's..." she stammered, unable to find the words.

"Alright, I'm just teasing you. Go home. Just be a bit more careful next time. It's fine if you don't like me, just don't let me see it so easily again."

Sun Dasheng released her chin and walked away.

She remained standing there for a long time, eventually licking the salty taste at the corner of her lips.

「The next day.」

In his office, Sun Dasheng received a strange phone call. Seeing the caller ID, he muttered to himself. That's odd. She has the nerve to call me?

He answered the phone. "Hello! What do you want?"

"President Sun, it's just..."

"Speak up if you have something to say. Otherwise, I'm hanging up."

"Wait! President Sun, I do have something."

"Speak!"

"My father said he is extremely grateful for your help and was wondering if you had time so he could treat you to a meal personally to thank you."

Oh? That tone... It doesn't sound like her. Someone must be coaching her right now.

As expected, standing right beside Li Wenwen was her 'sagacious' father, Li Wenbo.

The moment she hung up, he immediately asked his daughter, "What did President Sun say?"

He truly hadn't expected his daughter to have such a good relationship with Sun Dasheng, that she could so effortlessly help him through this crisis on her first try.
