Oke City.
Middle Sector. By Olive Park.
Simons stared hard at Saquin. He could not understand what was going on. He placed his hands on his head as he rummaged his head.
What the fuck is going on?
Words replayed in his head.
- Can you tell me its worth?
- So fucking cheap.
- I want to buy it.
- Five hundred million.
- Five hundred milli...
- Five hund...
- So fucking cheap.
- Five hundred is fucking cheap
Even as Saquin got off the call and started chatting with Shalis, he kept on staring.
His brain could not just understand what Saquin and the person he called just talked about. In a sense, he understood what had just happened and is still happening. It is just... that he could not understand it. If that makes sense.
Just as he was lost in his confusion, he got another startle.
Shalis performed a universally popular skill known to belong to the top powerhouses of the human race. At least that was what the general populace believed.
The Shift.
She performed Elemental Shift.
The skill known to be performed only by the heroes of humanity.
To put it in Empowered terms, she was of the Master level.
---
Senar Initiate, Senar User, Senar Adept, Senar Master...
---
And from what he was feeling, or not. The Senar in the surrounding and his body was no long his to command. She was not a weak one.
He stared at Saquin with even more apprehension. But for the first time, another feeling triumphed over his fear and apprehension, his curiosity.
Just who is Saquin?
"Hey, I got rid of your problem. Cheer up quick, we got to hit the hotspot of the city." Saquin gently walked over at that moment.
Simons stared at Saquin for a moment more.
"You did get rid of my problem..."
---
At the capital. Mayor's office.
Shalis sat in the air, cross legged. Her eyes were on Mayor and his assistant, Fredja, as they sorted out the company's sale.
She was really bored.
It had been a couple minutes since she had arrived here. And all the duo did was work on the documents and make some calls.
She really could not understand why Saquin had sent her here.
She would have preferred to be by his side.
He was her new master and she really wanted to deepen their bond. She did not want the same result as with her former master.
As far as she knew, he had stumbled upon her, in her artifact state, in the Immortal Battleground. As soon as he acquired her bond, he had praised her for what brilliance she was and about how she was an incredible Artifact.
But then, instead of putting this incredible artifact to work, or at least keeping her by his side, he had always tucked her away in his various safehouses across the galaxy.
Quote: "You are my most prized possession, I have to keep you that way. As mine."
Really, to her, it was a strange way of thinking but she could not deny the merit behind it. Most people tag along with their pride and joy everywhere they go. If they happen to come across danger, this possession of theirs could either help or slow them down.
But things are different for a slave merchant.
For a slave merchant, keeping their pride and joy away so if they encountered danger, they could flee with their mind at peace so that they could recover their losses.
Too bad, all the preparations of the captain were all for naught.
She saw it as a good thing though, if he was not out of the picture she would not have met her new master. Despite the short, really short, time they had spent together, she preferred him. She could not place her hand on why, but he just had this natural charm that drew her in.
Plus, she could easily tell he was a Divine.
He had all the telling of one.
Unique look and flair. Eccentric or weird personality. Natural charisma. Immense power for his level.
But what actually gave it away was, she can not strip away his control over Senar.
"Hmm." A sign escaped her lips.
She was really bored.
I want to go back to Young Master.
She screamed in her head as she rocked back and forth mid air.
Mayor and Fredja saw her antics but decided to ignore her.
Fredja did not want anything to do with someone so powerful.
Mayor, on the other hand, did not want to interact with her for fear of being ordered to follow her back to her young master now. According to what he read between the lines of the young master's request was that he wanted him to keep her with him for a while.
It seemed the young heir wanted to be free of her supervision. Something common in such heirs.
So he paid her no extra attention and focused on his work, with every intention to drag it out.
Shalis was still rocking about on the spot mid air, when she spotted a small rectangular box on the table. It was a clock. She willed a gust of wind to carry it over.
She took it and then decided to start a new timer. She planned to keep track of the time she was away from Saquin.
[ 00: 00: 00 ]
She started the timer.
Before long.
[ 01: 00: 00 ]
An hour had passed.
Nothing eventful really took place in the hour.
Just a couple of calls entering Mayor's Comm and Fredja bringing refreshment for her.
Then.
[ 02: 00: 00 ]
Two hours.
Shalis already had a game gadget in her hands whirling away time, beating some snobbish little children in the multiplayer version.
[ 03: 00: 00 ]
Mayor and Fredja had started a virtual meeting with the company's top echelons and their various top shareholders.
Shalis was still hovering in the air, now upside down. She was engrossed in a third person shooter game, hurling insults at her trash teammates.
[ 04: 00: 00 ]
The meeting was still ongoing.
Shalis paid no attention to it. She was too engrossed in cursing out her new duo teammate, id: Mr. Engrossed.
[ 05: 00: 00 ]
Five hours in.
The meeting was reaching the ending phase.
So was the friendship between Shalis and Mr. Engrossed.
Shalis was an aggressive player, Mr. Engrossed was a camper. They played well together, when they win. When they lose though...
[ 06: 00: 00 ]
The meeting had come to an end.
Mayor and Fredja were now finalizing the deal.
Shalis had found new solace in reading. The game gadget was nowhere to be found, she had crushed it with a staggering amount of atmospheric pressure.
[ 07: 00: 00 ]
Mayor and Fredja were done with all the documents.
They contacted Saquin through text, as he was not answering calls.
A short while later, Saquin was now the sole owner of the whole company.
Mayor was now a wealthy man.
Also, he now knew Saquin's name. But he could not find any information about him. Apparently, Saquin's citizenship level was too high for his information to be accessed on a regular Comm.
Shalis was floating gently in the room above a stack of books. Though, she was no longer engrossed in them.
Her new found passion was DnD.
[ 08: 00: 00 ]
Shalis followed Mayor and Fredja to a business party located at the most prestigious hotel on the planet.
Mayor tried to introduce some figures to her, hoping to soothe her into the party.
She was not interested though.
[ 09: 00: 00 ]
Despite becoming the vocal point of the party due to Mayor's evident reverence towards her, Shalis was still bored.
To cure her boredom, she entered a DnD session mid party.
[ 10: 00: 00 ]
Ten hours in.
The party was still on.
Shalis was still mid-session.
The only eventful scene in the party was when a self proclaimed strongest adventurer in the capital got into a heated argument with a young beautiful lady. The young beautiful lady was Fredja, who won the argument by default as the man was sliced into tiny pieces by micro air blades.
"Know your place." Shalis had commented without taking her eyes off her game tablet.
[ 11: 00: 00 ]
Eleven hours gone and Shalis could no longer ignore her boredom.
She wanted to see her young master.
So, she forced Mayor to leave the party early despite his unwillingness.
[ 11: 30: 00 ]
Shalis and the duo were in a private hangar in the outskirts of the city.
She could not, or would not, use her Flux to get them all back. Hence, them boarding a private aircraft. She did bring up the idea of her carrying the duo in an air bubble and flying back, but they had disagreed. It would be stressing her, they said. They could not disrespect her, they said. All she felt though was that they just wanted to waste her time for a little comfort.
[ 12: 00: 00 ]
"Twelve hours away from Young Master." Shalis muttered to herself as she checked the time.
She was still in the aircraft. Despite the aircraft's speed, it would still take a couple more minutes to get to Oke city.
[ 12: 14: 54 ]
"We are about to reach Oke city, my Lord." Mayor addressed her.
She nodded.
"We are about to go see..."
She paused mid speech as she shot up her seat.
Not just her, Mayor and Fredja did too.
They could see the glorious Oke city from afar through the aircraft's windscreen.
And the city was not looking so glorious right now.
Boom!
The aircraft shook violently as Shalis took off in a frenzy.
Voom!
In no time, she was hovering above the city.
At her vantage point, she could really see the carnage the city had gone through.
The city was half destroyed, while the other half was either on fire or frozen.
Sparks ignited on the ground as dead bodies littered the city streets.
At the center of the carnage was the wreckage of a super skyscraper. And on it was her one and only young master.
There.
He laid with his hands on his chest, white wings were spread out behind him.
"So, this is what freedom feels like... like shit." He muttered.
Just then, feeling her gaze on him, he turned and his eyes met hers.
"Oh welcome Shalis."
He greeted her with a smile.
