Just as the battles began in the territory commanded by the Great Demon General Balac Sevec, so too did the battles begin in the other border territories.
At the start of the battles, the dead could be easily counted on most battlefields. This was due to the order that prevailed in the military formations, which had become more solid now that the troops were commanded by experienced leaders who, in turn, followed the orders of their deputy commanders and commanders.
...
Bang! Bang!
Explosion!
Human spells and demonic spells collided with medium-level magical or demonic barriers or with concatenated barriers.
Each military formation tried to adapt their spells to break through the enemy's military formations.
Warriors vs. demon warriors; warriors vs. demon swordsmen; swordsmen vs. demon warriors; swordsmen vs. demon swordsmen; the combat was varied, but no one fought 1 vs. 1; everyone used the support of the military formations that followed them.
...
Even so, there were also battlefields, specifically in the territory led by the Great Demonic General Talion Crocell, where the vanguard composed of recruits sent by the Republican Council was sent to the front lines to contain the enemy's advance while the demons of the main army prepared joint demonic spells with which they hoped to kill as many humans as possible.
A composite spell was one whose range and power was enhanced by being created by several demonic sorcerers at once.
...
On another battlefield, the organized military formations of each army faced off against each other.
In the rear, the Great Demonic General Galot Ertrael watched the battles unfold on the battlefield with great attention.
...
From the rear of the human army, False Edmund, still wearing his hood and red robe with dark and sinister patterns, almost instantly set his eyes on Galot Ertrael.
"Ha ha ha, it seems there is an interesting fellow among them. I'm off, waiting here is boring, ha ha ha."
After hearing False Edmund's words, Commander Lukas wanted to stop him, but he knew it would be impossible and dangerous.
In the end, Lukas, who was an experienced wizard, could only watch as False Edmund lunged at breakneck speed toward the enemy like a crazed beast.
...
In another territory, Rich Mender, the most experienced commander and magic archer in the Venrac Empire, commanded his troops to face the army of the demon Velor Decarabia.
Velor Decarabia was the demon marquis and general in charge of leading an army composed mostly of demonic swordsmen and sorcerers. General Velor personally led the elite unit of demonic bird riders. Each rider used powerful bows or crossbows with which they fired powerful demonic arrows, and a few riders were demonic sorcerers whose demonic spells had long range and power.
...
A handsome demon with white skin, long white hair, and white horns on either side of his forehead, he wore a gold and white military uniform. He was tall and slender, with beautiful white wings on his back. Yet despite his refined appearance, he was a fearsome swordsman and warrior. He was Galot Ertrael.
...
The False Edmund planned to kill as many demons as he could until he reached Galot, but just as he was about to rip off the head of a demon warrior...
Boom!
False Edmund's hand was deflected, and Galot used his demonic aura to redirect the power of the shockwave into the air.
"You're very kind, ha ha ha. Guys like you died early in my day," said False Edmund.
...
As soon as the Grand General entered the battlefield, Galot's commanders ordered their subjects to move away from the area where Galot would fight False Edmund.
The efficiency of Galot's army was immediately apparent.
...
Galot flapped his white wings, and hundreds of wings were launched like powerful blades toward the attacks that were preventing the efficient retreat of his troops.
"Entertain me!" shouted False Edmund as he threw a punch with his fist covered in demonic aura.
Bang!
The False Edmund's fist met the blade of Galot's sword, covered in demonic aura.
The two began to attack and block each other's attacks.
As the two powerful enemies fought, the shockwaves continued to spread, the ground began to fill with deep cracks, and the ground shook as if it were an immense primordial creature about to awaken from a long sleep.
Sometimes the blade of Galot's sword met the forearm of the False Edmund; at other times, the fist of the False Edmund struck the blade of Galot's sword.
"Is he a demon? No, a demonic pact. That's not important right now," Galot thought without letting his guard down.
...
Lukas Laniert was an experienced wizard, specializing in restrictive spells and those that could strengthen the abilities of his allies. He was also a great strategist when it came to directing his sub-commanders, which is how he always managed to keep the battles between his army and Galot's army at a stalemate for more than two centuries.
Now, Lukas watched a bewildering battle between two obviously powerful beings, which made him consider that he had misjudged Galot's level, because he was more powerful than he had shown. However, Lukas soon realized who had a clear advantage between the two.
...
Galot Ertrael's experience led him to conclude that he could not defeat his opponent normally, but even so, he sensed that the more power False Edmund used, the more his energy and presence fluctuated as if they could disappear at any moment.
"The more demonic energy he uses, the more that human vessel degrades; however, I haven't even cut him with the edge of my sword, he's just playing around until he gets bored," Galot concluded in his mind, and then infused demonic energy into his voice to order his commanders:
"Commanders! Retreat! Now!"
The demonic commanders were bewildered, but obedience to a superior's order was an immutable law in Galot's army, so all the commanders ordered the retreat despite the horrible feeling of defeat and loss they began to feel.
Galot knew that this was the only way to prevent his army from falling needlessly.
Bang! Crash!
Galot's sword clashed once more with False Edmund's fist.
False Edmund recoiled, shocked to find that one of his hands had been wounded.
A halo of dark energy appeared above Galot's head, Galot's white horns turned black, his beautiful white wings turned black; Galot was burning his demonic core, his power reaching the eighth rank.
