Chapter 50: Talk

Aaron looked at Torvald and said,

"Torvald, I need to talk to you about something important."

Torvald nodded, "Let's go talk in the study room."

Aaron entered the study and first used the map to scan the surroundings.

Once he confirmed no one was nearby, he said in a serious tone, "Torvald, I need you to buy something that will be very helpful in building a powerful weapon against monsters."

Torvald looked at Aaron with a serious expression, "Are you sure?"

Aaron nodded.

Torvald asked, "What do you need me to buy?"

Aaron barely hesitated and replied, "Do you know how to make a bow?"

Torvald nodded, "Of course I know how to make one. It's easy. But a bow won't help us kill monsters, right?"

Aaron replied, "Indeed. That's why I want you to buy strings, elastic and strong, so they won't break easily."

He paused, then added, "If possible, buy monster bones."

Torvald looked at Aaron with a curious expression, "How strong should the string be? A normal bow made with jute strings can shoot up to 200 steps."

Aaron nodded, "The string must shoot up to 2,000 or even 3,000 steps."

Torvald took a deep breath, "Aaron… you're not asking me to buy monster hamstrings, are you?"

Aaron nodded again.

Torvald immediately shook his head, "It's not that I can't buy them, but those monsters are rare, and they're hunted by Lord Alaric's soldiers. Their parts aren't available for public use."

Aaron asked thoughtfully, "Then is there any alternative?"

Torvald shook his head, "Nope."

Aaron sighed, "Well, can you buy the strings used in bows?"

Torvald replied, "Of course. That's easy."

Aaron was relieved, "Good. Buy as many as you can, the more, the better."

Torvald nodded, "I'll go personally and get them. Do you need anything else?"

Aaron hesitated briefly, "Nope. That's all."

On the other hand, Monga, who had left with the slaves, spoke in an encouraging tone, "Hey, you guys. You're the luckiest slaves in the world."

His words immediately caught their attention.

Seeing this, he grinned and continued, "Do you want to know why? Because you're going to Green Fort. And Lord Aaron has promised that once you reach his territory, he won't keep slaves."

"So instead of sulking, think about what you can do to impress Lord Aaron. I may not know much about governing a territory, but I do know one thing, any ruler needs talent."

After saying this, he laughed out loud in a carefree manner, "Well, that's all. Haha..."

The slaves' eyes lit up with excitement.

For the first time, they were looking forward to their voyage.

On the other hand, Monty spoke in a horrified tone, "Sir… is Lord Aaron really taking us to Green Fort? Isn't that a forbidden place?"

Monga simply smiled and replied, "Indeed, Green Fort lies next to the Forbidden Zone. Monsters do attack, and no one wants to go there. But think about it, you'll have your freedom. A place where you can be free. Not only that, I heard Lord Aaron say that as long as you can work, you'll be paid. And you can spend that money however you like."

Kelly, the businessman's daughter, was stunned after hearing Monga's words.

She felt a strange sense of disbelief, such a kind of Lord seemed impossible to find. So she didn't allow herself much hope.

Her younger sister Kathy gently tugged at her fingers and asked in a low tone, "Sister… will we really be free?"

Kelly smiled softly and replied, "We'll know only after reaching that place."

Just then, Monga shouted in a loud, rough tone, "Jake, Blake, get your asses over here!"

Jake, who was sitting on the deck, quickly rushed toward Monga.

As for Blake, he gave orders to the others, "You guys, the captain is calling me, so I have to go. Also don't slack off."

One of the sailors looked at Blake with disdain and said,

"Hurry up and leave. Don't disturb us."

The others laughed.

Jake stood in front of Captain Monga and asked, "Captain, what are your orders?"

Monga replied with a smile, "Here are the gold coins. Hurry up and buy supplies for all of us, and gather the cooks. Maybe Lord Aaron and Boss might join us too."

-----

Time passed.

It was already night, and the lanterns were lit, illuminating the ships with a warm glow. People lined up quietly to receive their food.

A few minutes later, Aaron arrived, accompanied by Torvald, who was carrying a lantern.

Aaron felt the cold sea breeze brush against his skin.

He turned to Torvald and asked, "Torvald, will it be cold during the night?"

Torvald nodded, "Indeed. You've traveled from Riverbend, so you probably know better than I do."

Then he paused and patted his own head, "Ah, I forgot, you're a knight. The cold you feel is different from what we feel. Well, people can sleep, but it's still uncomfortable."

Aaron asked, "Do we need to buy mattresses for them?"

Torvald shook his head, "Just a piece of cloth will do. They won't be sleeping on the deck, they'll be on the second layer."

Aaron nodded in agreement.

Aaron noticed that the people were already eating.

At the same time, Monga approached and asked, "Lord Aaron, do you want to eat?"

Aaron replied, "Okay. Bring a bowl for me and Torvald."

Monga immediately left and soon returned with two bowls filled with soup, vegetables and meat simmered together.

Aaron took a bite and found the taste acceptable, simple but edible.

Torvald also ate, and while chewing, he said, "Aaron, now that there are women aboard… will that be a problem?"

Aaron replied, "I was just about to address that."

He stood up, walked toward the deck, and raised his voice, "People, there's something I want to say."

"First of all, the women will sleep on one ship. No male is allowed on that ship during the night. If I hear even a single complaint from them, the punishment will be severe, your limbs will be cut, and salt rubbed into the wounds."

"Also, don't dirty the ship. A designated place for defecation will be decided. Both men and women must use separate areas."

"By tomorrow noon, or earlier we will sail for Green Fort. So be ready by then."
