From Blade To Spell

Chapter 102: Basic Sword Technique

At the East Gate

Aaron had cast the Light Spell to illuminate the area. He stood facing Rumba, his twelve guards, and the Rose Guards, a total of eighteen people.

He said, "Now I will demonstrate the Basic Sword Techniques. Watch my movements carefully."

With that, he began to move, each motion slow and deliberate.

The basic strikes included:

- A shoulder-to-knee chop

- A Reverse knee-to-shoulder chop

- A horizontal slash

- A vertical chop

Then he demonstrated a thrust, followed by three defensive maneuvers.

Rumba and his guards watched intently, their eyes fixed on Lord Aaron's form.

Thanks to the Light Ball, the surroundings were well-lit, allowing them to observe every detail.

On the other hand, Melina and the Rose Guards were visibly shocked by the precision and clarity of Aaron's technique.

In truth, the Basic Sword Technique was the foundation of any knight.

Later, they could specialize, choosing daggers, bows, or shields, but swordsmanship remained essential.

After all, most knights in this world wielded swords as their primary weapon.

Melina and her team quickly realized that Lord Aaron's Basic Sword Techniques were flawless. They were mesmerized by his display, each movement precise, deliberate, and deeply refined.

After finishing the demonstration, Aaron turned to the group and said, "You all, come one by one and practice. I'll correct you if there are any mistakes."

All eighteen people stepped forward, one at a time.

Rumba's team took longer to grasp the techniques, while Melina's team, already familiar with sword basics, found their skills improving by leaps and bounds under Aaron's corrections.

Two hours later.

Aaron let out a yawn and said, "Okay, that's all for today. Tomorrow, gather here at 6 AM sharp. I'll guide you again. Don't be late. Of course, if it rains, you can skip practice."

With that, he walked back toward the village. Rumba and his team followed behind.

As they walked, Mumba asked, "Captain, do we really need to learn this sword technique?"

Numba added, "Yes, Captain. What's the advantage of practicing sword techniques?"

Rumba rubbed his head, then snapped in frustration, "You idiots! Lord Aaron is teaching you techniques that only knights learn. So learn it!"

But deep down, even Rumba wasn't entirely sure of its importance.

At that moment, Melina stepped forward, her tone slightly cold.

"You group of ignorant fools. You're lucky Lord Aaron is guiding you. Want to know why it's important? I'll show you."

She paused. "One of you, attack me."

Mumba unconvinced stood up. "Miss, I'll take the lead. Be careful."

He attacked with full strength.

Melina defended easily, her movements fluid and precise.

"This is the basic defensive technique Lord Aaron taught us earlier," she said calmly. "Your slashes are predictable. You waste strength by raising your sword unnecessarily. Even a three-year-old could mimic that."

"But if you used the proper technique, a vertical slash followed by a knee-to-shoulder chop, you could disarm your opponent. With enough force, you could even kill."

"Forget it. I'll show you in slow motion."

She demonstrated the sequence, and Rumba's team watched in awe, a look of realization dawning on their faces.

Melina continued, "As you keep practicing, your body will develop instinct. You'll be able to parry attacks naturally, especially against opponents of equal strength."

She paused, then added, "My Basic Sword Mastery is at intermediate level."

She looked around, picked up a leaf, and said, "Watch closely."

With a swift motion, she used the basic sword technique to slice the leaf into four clean pieces, a vertical cut followed by a reverse shoulder slash.

"If you can cut a leaf like this, you're at my level."

Rumba and the others took a deep breath, still unconvinced, and picked up leaves to try chopping them.

But they quickly realized, they couldn't even hit the leaves properly.

Only now did they begin to understand that there was something deeper to the Basic Sword Technique Lord Aaron had been teaching.

Meanwhile, Melina returned to her tent. Her team members sat quietly, each wearing a solemn expression.

Luna spoke first. Her usual playful demeanor was gone, replaced by a serious tone.

"Captain, Lord Aaron's Basic Sword Technique is so good

that I think I might reach the intermediate level soon."

Lisa nodded in agreement.

Tina added, "Indeed. There were flaws in my defensive movements. Now I've corrected them, my motion feels fluid."

Mina chimed in, "Me too. But what level has Lord Aaron reached to guide us so effortlessly?"

She paused, then said thoughtfully, "Judging by his voice, he can't be older than seventeen. He's just entered his teenage years."

Melina, however, responded in a firm tone.

"Don't think too much about it. Let's focus on practicing our skills."

Next day.

Early in the morning, the sun had just risen, its orange rays gently illuminating the surroundings.

At the East Gate, Rumba and his guards stood at a distance, working hard, trying to cut leaves mid-air.

On the other side, Melina and her team were just finishing their warm-up.

Aaron, freshly bathed, arrived to check on them.

When he saw Rumba's group, his eyes twitched.

He had no idea what these dumb people were doing.

He cleared his throat and called out, "Rumba."

Rumba snapped to attention, only to see Lord Aaron standing right in front of him.

He was stunned.

Then he turned to see his guards still flailing at leaves in the air.

"You idiots, stop!" he barked.

The guards froze, then turned to Aaron, rubbing their heads with embarrassed expressions.

Aaron looked at Rumba and asked, "What are you all doing?"

Rumba replied, his voice laced with embarrassment, "Lord Aaron, we were trying to chop the leaves in the air… but it seems we all failed."

Aaron nodded slightly. "Don't worry. If you practice the Basic Sword Techniques two hundred times a day for a month, you'll be able to chop the leaves easily."

Hearing this, Rumba and his team frowned. They realized it would take a long time.

Just then, Mumba blurted out, "Lord Aaron, can you chop the leaves?"

Rumba

immediately scolded him, "Idiot Mumba! How dare you question Lord Aaron's sword skills?"

But Aaron simply said, "Well, give me your sword."
