"Wait. What!?"
Adam was in disbelief on what was happening. He expected her to scold him on how he handled the spar earlier but didn't expect to be recruited like this.
Veyra's guild was ranked among the top 10 in the whole human continent, their resources and influence was great.
Now Adam was having an inner monologue on how to receive these news, and it was too advantageous to accept just like that.
"(If I join their guild, I could have a shield against the plots of some factions just like Kael.)" Adam thought to himself
"(Right now I'm alone, and even the commoners in the academy have a shield of their own. But I need to know what her plan is before I make any decision.)""Wait. What!?"

"(Right now I'm alone, and even the commoners in the academy have a shield of their own. But I need to know what her plan is before I make any decision.)"
"An interesting offer. Assuming I accept, what's in for your guild?"
Veyra's guilds name was called Eclipse. It it was ranked Top 4 in the whole continent.
Their known for their fierce protection for their members, even going to the lengths of fighting against noble houses.
There was one case covered years ago. A spoiled heir was found to be harassing one of their female members.
Later it was told that the whole noble house was erased from existence, sure they received some backlash from the Association but that fact remains.
They whole noble house was erased hence their name eclipse, because when they strike they leave nothing behind.
"I knew you wouldn't accept so easily, that's a good response," Veyra said.
"Here's what I'll want from you in exchange. One you'll be in a squad learn the ropes of the guild and after a few raids you'll be promoted to captain, as you have those qualities already."
"Second, you'll represent the guild in whatever you do. So when you get accomplishments our guilds prestige will also rise in exchange. And the main reason is because of Kael."
Adam was surprised when he heard of the reason for their offer, sure Kael was a bother in many ways but he didn't realize that even professor Veyra was bothered by this behavior.
"Kael?"
"Yes Kael, my and guild has some bad blood with his family's guild. So by recruiting you the person they've had their eyes on it'll definitely deliver a blow on their pride, plus I'm betting on the potential you've shown."
"Hmm, can you give me some time to think about your offer?"
Veyra wasn't surprised by his answer, no one would make a life changing decision on the stop so she decided to give him some time.
"Of course, you'll have until the end of this week to make a decision."
"Thank you."
Adam said that he stood up from his chair to take his leave, he gazes back at professor Veyra for a second before taking his leave.
When getting out he was walking down the halls and was still hearing whispers about the duel that happened with the first and second years.
"That's him, Adam the first year Apex."
"I heard he stood against Kael."
"No he didn't just match him— he actually pushed him back with pure strength alone."
"Yeah, but in the end professor Veyra had to stop the duel. We lost the chance to see the final outcome."
"Well I heard that Kael had to use mana in order to keep up."
Everywhere Kael walked, eyes followed him. Some of them were in awe, others had suspicion and others saw him as a threat.
Adam dismissed it walked. He then cought up with his friends Duke and Selena and they decided to walk together.
Duke let out a groan as the three of them walked down the halls. "I swear, my bones are aching. Marcus didn't hold back."
Selena just gave him a flat look. "Maybe if you tried to block properly instead of trying to act like a behemoth—"
"Hey! My body is sturdy." Duke grinned, but that grinned quickly turned into a wince when he pressed down his bruises.
Adam just walked between them, his hands were tucked in his pockets. His body was aching too but his passive regeneration was already kicking in healing his minor wounds but the fatigue was still there.
But he was busy replaying the fight and the talk with the professor in his mind.
The moment Kael broke the rules and was exuding his killing intent Adam almost killed him.
The moment he was hit with that bloodlust, Adam's mind momentarily went blank.
His dragon instincts flared against the challenge and he almost went all out and couldn't restraint himself.
"I need to control my instincts better I've only just awakened a few weeks ago." Adam thought to himself.
While he was having his inner monologue Selena and Duke were still rambling but she noticed that Adam was quiet the whole time.
She then glanced at him. "You're quiet."
Adam's gaze was still facing forward but he responded to her regardless. "Just thinking about the fight, and I was a bit too careless."
Duke blinked when he heard Adam say that. "You careless? You technically beat the crap out of Kael everyone's still talking about it."
Adam just shook his head and decided not to dwell further on the topic and the twins didn't dwell any further.
(Meanwhile)
Not far away from then. Kael was walking his second year peers, his pacing was fast as he walked in front of them.
His fists were clenched at his side and blood still smeared his lips, and his pride was wounded more than his body.
Sylvia, one of the twins that fought against Selena frowned. "Well that was unexpected, to think you couldn't even—"
"Shut up!" Kael growled, his voice loud and sharp.
Sylvia flinched and decided not to anger him further.
Raven just raised a brow. "He must've caught you off guard. That Adam fellow isn't just an ordinary first year that much I can see."
But didn't appease Kael's anger, his jaw just tightened. His teeth grinding together until his gums started to ache.
"He's nothing, he just got lucky that's all."
But deep within the back of his mind, the memory of being beat by Adam replayed again and again.
The precision, the speed and the weight of his strikes. Kael hated every moment of it.
He hated how even for just for a short moment he was humiliated and cornered.
Sylvia just exchanged a look with her twin Marcus. They both knew it: Kael wasn't going to let this end here.
(Cafeteria Hall)
During the evening, the Academy's dining hall was alive with noise.
The long tables were stretching across the chamber, filled with students of each year.
The scent of roasted meat filled the air, the clattering plays and hum of conversations were being overhead.
Adam was sitting with the twins and had a simple meal before him. He didn't have much of an appetite, his thoughts were still on the talk he has with Veyra.
But around them the voices rose and fell, snippets of countless conversations were reaching their table.
But not all the whispers were filtered.
"I heard Kael broke the rules of the spar."
"He thought he was special because his parents guild are ranked top 6."
"Well even that Adam guy won't last long, quickly fame fades just as fast."
That's when Duke slammed his plate down. "Tch these coward, all they do is talk about people but none of them could even last a second against Adam and can't even talk in front of Kael."
Selena just sighed, and quietly sipped her coffee. "Just leave them be, people will always talk regardless."
Adam though wasn't any of that. His eye flickered briefly across the hall where the second years sat.
There amongst them, Kael sat, his shoulders were hunched, bjs gaze was burning across then room towards Adam's table.
The air between them seemed to vibrate with an unspoken promise, they both knew it, their paths would cross again: This was far from over
"Did you hear? Kael lost to a first year."
"Technically it was a draw."
"But still he didn't win... And I heard was on the losing end the whole time."
"Serves him right he's always been cocky and arrogant."
