Chapter 278: Three Kings (Part 1)

Saleen was scaring Daniel, because he wanted to use this opportunity to acquire some obscure materials. Even though these abyssal creatures were not of a high grade, they were still unique and precious to the mages of Myers in this day and age.

Had these abyssal materials been acquired earlier, Sregl Island would not have had to employ an extreme method such as sealing the island to deal with their complicated situation in the first place.

However, there had been no alternatives either. After all, Sregl Island could not fall out with Alchemy City, but heat-tolerant equipment could be produced from the materials from the abyssal creatures, and they would have no issues entering the volcano anymore.

Saleen looked at the dead abyssal creatures with much regret and said to Daniel, “In that case, you don’t have to do any other work anymore. Just concentrate on summoning the creatures in the death dimension during this period of time.”

The mages from the Sregl Island had thought of a question. If the Myers plane ran into this planar collision, what would they do? These mages might have only been grand mages and could possibly even die before becoming sorcerers, but they had rather high self-regard.

If such an event really took place, the creatures from both planes would fight to their deaths, and only less than one percent of the population would survive. Eventually, this little bit of remaining life would reproduce and their powers would flood the entire plane.

If such a thing happened, would the humans on the Myers Mainland be able to survive until the end? Humans had long lost the tyrannical powers that they had possessed tens of thousands of years ago.

Saleen pondered these questions for a moment, but did not become fixated on them. He felt that this was not his business. A planar collision would only occur a few million years later, and by then he would have passed away, so there was simply no point to thinking about these issues.

The history of humans only went back for about tens of thousands of years. Even if Saleen found a solution now, the people who were around millions of years later would not know about it anyways.

The most important matter at hand now was killing the lightning dragon and extracting its materials. After selling them, the money obtained would greatly lessen the financial burden of constructing the city.

Even so, Saleen had forgotten about one thing. All of their thoughts were only assumptions. The planar collision was indeed unrelated to Saleen, but what about a planar invasion?

Within a narrow mountain crack in the death dimension was a pile of bodies belonging to the death creatures. An insane fight was taking place on the mountaintop. The few intelligent death creatures were commanding countless spirits in the fight against the strange-looking abyssal creatures.

As countless skeletons, ghosts, dolls, and bone beasts clashed with the abyssal war weapons, an earth-shattering sound filled the air.

This war was about to end. As the number of death creatures greatly overwhelmed that of the abyssal creatures, all of the abyssal creatures were massacred.

A blood-red sun in the overcast sky shone on the horrifying scene on the ground. Every single intelligent creature was focusing on the final battle, as the flaming dragon from the abyssal plane was bombarded by the bone holy beast. Now that the powerful flaming dragon had left the abyssal plane, its power was only that of level-8 or level-9. As it struggled with all its might, it spit out flames which were hundreds of meters in length.

However, all of its efforts were in vain. A brilliant light from the sole horn on the forehead of the bone holy beast managed to negate the flames from the flaming dragon in midair. Across the withered land, hundreds of giant arms emerged from the ground and grabbed onto the flaming body of the flaming dragon.

These arms were not afraid of being burned. Furthermore, the flames on the flaming dragon’s body were already very faint, and being clawed at by those gigantic arms now, the flames were gradually extinguished.

Under the blood-red sun, three zombie-like death creatures were engaged in a conversation. They spoke in impeccable death language. They were the death creatures of the highest grade who ruled over the death dimension. The reason they had gotten together was solely because they had run into a powerful adversary.

“Banchajanna, how did you transform the teleportation portal into a dimensional passageway?” A spirit dozens of meters tall said to another spirit who was just as tall.

The spirit named Banchajanna had a human face, but had six arms, looking like a spirit.

“Why must it be me who caused that thing to appear? Diyabannersa, what do you mean by that?” Banchajanna replied unhappily. He could not have known that an ancient manmade magic array would be transformed into a permanent dimensional passageway. Such a thing like this could not be predicted, and he did not have the power to accomplish it either. This strange thing must have been created by the humans in the past.

“Okay, that’s enough. Banchajanna would never cause such a thing to happen. This time around, he has lost the most people, while we have only lost one third of our manpower. Diyabannersa, stop talking. We should quickly think of a solution to destroy this passageway.”

“It isn’t possible!” Diyabannersa was anxious. That was a dimensional passageway which possessed the ability to tear through space. If it was forcefully destroyed, a dimensional storm would occur which would result in the deaths of at least half of the death creatures. Furthermore, the other half which survived would also be left in a very terrible state. The dimensional storm could shred the soul, and those death creatures did not have the protection of human flesh. While in the dimensional storm, they would simply disappear slowly, and that was scarier than dying.

“Let’s throw that thing in. It will surely clog the passageway.”

“Judikaka, that thing is shared among the three of us. Can you bear to throw it away?”

“Of course not, but the abyssal plane is much larger than the death dimension. If an invasion like this happens repeatedly, our losses will be greater,” the spirit named Judikaka replied.

Diyabannersa was rendered speechless. Fortunately during this invasion, the abyssal monarch had not appeared. If the abyssal monarch appeared, it was highly likely that a death creature of the same grade as it would have also fallen.

The abyssal plane had countless levels, but the death dimension only had one level. There were too few monarch-grade spirits. Including the three of them, there were only less than ten spirit monarchs.

Under normal circumstances, it was fine even if a spirit monarch fell, because they would be revived and would be able to regain the pinnacle of their powers within tens of thousands of years. However, with the invasion by the abyssal plane now, those abyssal creatures would exterminate the spirit monarchs completely.

If such a battle took place a few more times, the power of the death dimension would be completely crippled. In contrast, the abyssal plane was boundless. It would still be perfectly fine no matter how many monarchs it lost.

Banchajanna, Judikaka, and Diyabannersa fell silent. The battle was already reaching its end. The last flaming dragon exploded in a blinding light while under siege, like a sun which had come to life, regaining its original level of energy.

Countless bones flew up in the air and pierced into the rocks of the mountain.

“Eh?” Banchajanna pointed to a twinkling spot on the mountain, and said to his companions, “What is that?”

“A summoning array. It belongs to the humans.”

Judikaka immediately recognized that thing. With a flashing white glow, a few of the death creatures and abyssal creatures in the immediate vicinity were sucked into the summoning array.

“Damn it, always seeking our help on a whim,” Diyabannersa muttered in an upset tone.

However, according to the rules of the death dimension, spirits could not refuse to be summoned unless the spirits were of an equivalent grade.

“The level of that summoning array is so high!” Judikaka gazed at the white light which was growing increasingly powerful. In a flash, hundreds of death creatures surged into the summoning array. It even included some gravely injured abyssal creatures.

“That’s because the summoning array is very powerful, but its user is extremely weak. Otherwise, all of the creatures on the battlefield would have been sucked in as well.

“That’s fantastic!” Banchajanna understood Judikaka’s intention, so he burst out in laughter too. The laughter of any other living thing was used to convey a message of friendliness and happiness, but when Banchajanna laughed, his mouth was so outstretched that his head nearly seemed like it was going to be lopped off. It was truly horrific.

“What’s fantastic?” Diyabannersa was an irritable fellow. He was not as cunning as the other two spirits.

“Diyabannersa, what is the reason for the invasion by the abyssal plane?”

“To capture us, of course.”

“That’s correct. Our bodies have something which the abyssal monarch wants. As long as we leave the death dimension, the invaders will lose their aim, and they might not even engage in combat with our subordinates. They will simply wander about trying to track us down. What if we escape to the plane that the humans live on? Would the abyssal plane still be able to invade the human plane?”

“Judikaka…humans seemed to have deteriorated.”

Diyabannersa might have been irritable, but he was not stupid. He knew everything that had happened in the past ten thousand years. There number of humans summoning death creatures was decreasing, and these humans were also getting weaker. This showed that the power of humans was no longer as it had once been. If the abyssal plane learned about this, it would definitely invade the human plane.

“It doesn’t matter if the humans have deteriorated. If we get to the human plane, the abyssal plane will have to consider what the gods would think. The initial agreement was that the gods would not allow us to invade the human plane. Diyabannersa, you are also a king. Don’t tell me you have forgotten about this?”

“Of course I remember. Wars cannot be waged inside the human plane. But the abyssal creatures may not necessarily wage a war against the humans. They only need to send their experts to cooperate with the humans in order to continue suppressing us.”

“We can cooperate with the humans first.”

“Cooperate with the humans?”

“This is it. Look, that fellow is still summoning, and it looks like he needs help. We will go over now and disguise ourselves as summoned creatures. And when the abyssal creatures catch up to us, they won’t be able to attack the humans either.”

“So troublesome,” Diyabannersa lamented resentfully. As a king, he needed to escape from the war, and now he even had to be commanded by a weakling.

“Diyabannersa, we will go over together. With the protection of that thing, we can use the souls of other spirits to sign the contract. That weakling will not be able to discover anything. By then, we will still be in full control right?”

“Right!” Diyabannersa understood everything now. He laughed and said, “Judikaka, you are indeed the most shameless out of all the kings.”

“I am definitely not the most shameless king. In the past, that human used this thing to deceive us, so it’s only fair that we deceive them in return now.”

“It’s a pity we aren’t demons, or else we wouldn’t have been restricted by the rules of the gods,” Banchajanna sighed. Even if it was for their survival, he was still unwilling to be under a human’s command. In comparison, the demonic plane was nearly unrestrained by the rules of the gods. If demons could travel to the human plane, they would surely create a lot of havoc.
