Pillar of Yita

Chapter 57: Princess Cut Open is All Black

The Elemental Staff in Blood Wings' hand, like a giant gear, slowly turns amidst the snowstorm, its Ether Guidance magical light fading bit by bit. The dark golden gears, pipelines, and embedded gemstones, reinforced devices, are frosted by the icy wind, freezing and growing layers of icicles.

When the icicles shattered, they made a crackling sound...

The ice wind blowing in his face, the swirling snowflakes, and the biting cold whipped his robe, fluttering erratically. Blood Wings, however, remained petrified, indifferent, with his mouth slightly agape, staring at the scene before him.

Deep in his eyes, reflected was a colossus, a colossus that was leaping into the sky.

If time could rewind just a few seconds—

At that moment, Blood Wings had stepped forward, facing his opponent directly, raising the staff in his hand, sensing the powerful magic power responding from the 'Ruby' Magic Guided Reactor behind him. The surge of ether in that instant stirred the Elementalist's heart. He raised his right hand, and in the pale palm, only a glowing snowflake appeared.

But this was not the Elementalist's spell, instead, it originated from the mystical object on his right index finger — the Frost Crown, Narlf, one of the ice and snow mystical objects crafted by the Numelin Elves, an A-grade equipment rewarded by the guild when he became a member of the Elite Corps.

He pointed forward, and at that moment, the powerful magic power gave a sense of confidence as if the world was within his grasp, a feeling infinitely delightful. Blood Wings was in peak condition; as he moved, the snowflake flew out, tumbling forward and merging with the falling snow, as a blue light spread through the snowstorm.

The ground rumbled deeply, trembling vaguely, then a crack appeared on the snowy surface and sank down. The next moment, with a loud crash, a sharp wall of icicles erupted from beneath the snow.

It was analogously reminiscent of Gita's Anstali Great Glacier, yet belonging to a different spellcaster, the ice columns that rose from the underground shattered the ice prison that had lost the magic power support of the Natural Historian, smashing it to pieces.

Amidst the scattered ice shards, the ice wall stood erect, also blocking the Knight Construct's view, but Fang Hong's reaction to this scene was quicker, merely leveling an arm, as if responding to his action—the Knight Colossus also leveled its lance, thrusting forward.

The lance pierced the ice wall, immediately showing a web-like crack at the point of impact, and centering on this, it shattered with a roar. Amidst the flying ice fragments, the view was also lost to the surrounding three Clockwork Fairies.

Only Fang Hong heard a low chant, like a spell incantation, a flash in the snowy haze, the sound transformed into a resolute command:

"Teleport."

A silver light flashed, from front to back—yet again the teleportation robe, Fang Hong instinctively had the Knight Colossus sweep backward, but the lance's swipe only stirred up a flurry of snow, also missing its target.

Blood Wings made a leap to dodge the strike—his opponent's Combat Artisan reacted so quickly! It made him break into a cold sweat, thankfully he was cautious, or he might have become the first in Ragnarok to die in a blind spot within the First World.

However, a blind spot area is not necessarily an unobservable zone, because Combat Artisans possess means of observation; but a blind spot at least indicates the attack blind area of this type of Flexible Construct, with humanoid constructs mostly having blind spots in the rear or flanks, and multi-legged constructs generally beneath or above.

For flying constructs, the blind spot isn't certain, but it is surely opposite to their current flight direction.

Blood Wings didn't expect that this fundamental, seemingly trivial piece of knowledge for trainees at the camp, would save his life at a crucial moment.

He climbed up from the snow, while the Knight Construct behind him turned.

The latter pulled its left foot from beneath the snow, then the right foot, shifted its center of gravity, and in an instant, it turned back, the process unimpeded, the massive body surprisingly not much heavier than a human. The entire process appeared aesthetically pleasing, but in Blood Wings' eyes, it was only incomprehensible and terrifying—

Never before had he witnessed such agility in any Flexible Construct... No, not entirely never, if those top-notch combat video recordings count. But to see it play out in reality was utterly different.

Shouldn't this be the First World?

He hurriedly raised his right hand, in his palm was a prepared Wind System Crystal. "Now's the chance," Blood Wings shouted, lifting his hand: "Rise up for me!"

The crystal transformed into a beam of light, the light dispersed into shards of Light's Wings, merging into the body of the Knight Colossus, lightening its weight so that it half-floated off the snow. Blood Wings almost blacked out, the Variant Fearless being heavier than he imagined, the Wind System Levitation Spell barely made effect.

Yet thankfully, it was enough.

He struck the ground with the Elemental Staff, the ring on his right hand flashed again—a silver array appeared on the ground, ice and snow trembled slightly when the ice pillar below formed a platform with a boom, pushing the Knight Construct upwards.

At this moment, as the massive Construct's weight abruptly changed, it was in the process of shifting its center of gravity, and with this final push, it leaned to one side. Blood Wings seized the opportunity and simultaneously ordered 'Levitation Skill' to disperse...
