Carlotta's Daily Report

Chapter 204: Relics

How could a battle end exactly when someone declared it over?

In fact, even Achilles himself hadn't ended his fight exactly at that moment. He had been holding back earlier, simply being the first one who didn't want to prolong the fight any further.

As the battle concluded, Carlotta and Azure Fox drew many curious gazes. During the fight, many people hadn't forgotten to observe others, and upon noticing that Carlotta and Azure Fox were the last to finish, suspicions inevitably arose in their minds.

Around Carlotta, many armored figures had emerged at the end, this naturally sparked endless speculation about what kind of ability that truly was.

Of course, Azure Fox had also shown some unusual behavior at the end, stirring further doubts.

"Come help quickly!"

The Golden Lion shouted.

The two individuals who had been fighting two-on-one weren't finished yet.

Golden Lion looked like he couldn't hold any longer and cried out for help. Seeing this, Achilles and the others immediately rushed over.

Carlotta glanced at the Golden Lion. The beastman priest's true combat strength must be terrifying, clearly, he was holding back.

As for Toby Diamond, disguised as Guy Nicholson, he appeared perfectly at ease at this moment. Still, Carlotta and the others couldn't just stand by and watch, so they moved forward to assist as well.

'Although this guy is an impostor, his actual strength isn't weak.'

Carlotta thought to herself as she joined in.

Someone bold enough to impersonate Guy Nicholson was indeed extraordinary.

With everyone's combined efforts, the last few stone golem monsters were shattered right there.

"Are these really monsters? They have no flesh or blood, more like stones."

Doll muttered.

"Even if they're made of stone, they still count as monsters."

Big Mountain replied.

Truthfully, no one really cares about the nature of these monsters. What interested them more was what lay behind the door.

The group moved forward together, exerting their strength to push open the towering, ancient gate.

With an unpleasant grating sound, as if a sealed chapter of history were being revealed, an ancient hall appeared before their eyes.

The hall was vast and spacious, connecting to different directions. On its walls were extensive bas-reliefs, intricately carved.

"Why does this feel somewhat familiar?"

Selene murmured softly.

She stepped toward the reliefs and began examining them.

Many others followed suit, not in a hurry to explore the connected rooms, because these reliefs themselves were already full of content.

Text, in the spread of civilization, is limited by the reader's knowledge and isn't easily understood. In contrast, pictures are far more accessible for conveying information.

The murals before they were narrating a story in a calm, flowing manner.

Carlotta carefully examined the murals and discovered they depicted a civilization living under divine rule. This civilization had developed remarkable, alchemical airships, floating castles, levitating islands, and other creations kept emerging. The skies of this world became as bustling and prosperous as its lands.

Yet, this flourishing world eventually faces a terrifying divine war. Gods from beyond appear, forcing the world's own deities to join the conflict.

Then, the entire world tragically became a battlefield. Many gods from beyond descended, clashing violently, causing massive casualties and bringing catastrophic devastation upon the world.

A once-prosperous world was thus destroyed in an instant. The last survivors, aided by their world's deities, retreated into a towering spire with their remaining strength, patiently waiting for the divine war to end.

But whether the war ever truly ended remained unknown, because the carvings stopped right here.

After circling around, everyone exchanged glances.

"Do you think such a world really exists?"

Doll asked.

"Probably not. This should just be a made-up story."

Azure Fox shook his head. "I've never heard of such a legend, and there's no trace of it in history."

"Our history doesn't mention it because it didn't happen in our world."

Selene murmured softly.

Many had heard Selene's quiet words and immediately asked if she knew anything.

Selene replied, "I enjoy exploring various ruins. Once, in other ruins, I discovered some traces... yes, ruins at the continent's center. Some of the murals I found back then bore a certain similarity to these ones."

Everyone's expressions instantly turned peculiar.

The central region of the Northern Continent was a very special area.

In the four cardinal regions, north, south, east, and west, of the Northern Continent, there were vast areas suitable for human habitation. But the central region was uninhabitable for ordinary people. That land emitted strange radiation and lethal fluctuations for commoners, persisting year-round.

There were also numerous ruins scattered there, left behind from unknown eras.

Any powerful individual would find it hard not to explore the continent's center, for it might conceal ancient history.

White Goat mused, "Now that you mentioned it, during previous openings of the Tower of Babel, people had also discovered similar traces before."

He recounted some past events, mentioning certain legends passed down from ruins.

Among these weren't just reliefs similar to the ones before them, but also some completely unrelated content, as if the records of yet another world had been inscribed.

"If that's the case, then besides our world, many other worlds must exist? Then why are there no signs of them now?"

Night Cat couldn't help but ask.

"Perhaps something catastrophic occurred, or maybe it's truly just a false story."

Golden Lion said seriously, "However, in all those numerous legends, there's one location that's always the same, the Tower of Babel."

This statement made everyone's expressions turn complex.

Achilles asked, "If other worlds do exist, then the Tower of Babel must be a divine place connecting all worlds? But why, after so many openings of the Tower, have we never encountered people from other worlds?"

Golden Lion shook his head, not knowing the answer.

Perhaps the Tower of Babel opened to different worlds at different times. Added to that, the Tower's internal environment changed with every opening, making it hard to detect any recent traces.

Or perhaps, the people from other worlds were all wiped out.

"Maybe some answers can be found on higher levels. Finding such ruins on level 175 is already rare enough."

Guy said calmly.

Then he suggested that everyone stop dwelling on the content of these reliefs, perhaps they were just stories, not real events.

Compared to that, tangible benefits were far more important.

Everyone's attention instantly shifted to the series of doors connected to the hall.

The group didn't split up, instead moving together towards the nearest large door, opening it to reveal a long corridor, which in turn connected to many rooms.

They continued forward, opening one room after another along the corridor, finding various everyday household items inside.

There was nothing particularly valuable in these rooms. Some items might hold minor worth to ordinary supernaturals, but to these high-level experts present, they were utterly insignificant, none of them even cared to take a second glance.

"So many traces of daily life... Could people have really lived here?"

"Living inside the Tower of Babel? That's unimaginable."

"Perhaps it's a scene from the outside world captured by the Tower?"

"What did things look like back then?"

The group searched while exchanging thoughts, each driven by curiosity.

After a full sweep, they returned to the previous grand hall. Other large doors still connected to this chamber, so they continued opening them one by one, slowly expanding their search.

One had to admit, this ruin was truly enormous. Behind each door connected to the hall lay even vaster spaces, each large enough to require considerable time to explore thoroughly.

This time, they discovered even more traces of life, even finding some fragmented skeletons, remnants from who knew how distant a past, proof that people had indeed once been here.

Perhaps due to the site's extreme age, very little had survived.

After spending a significant amount of time searching, they could only leave once more.

"In such a massive ruin, could there really be nothing of value?"

Doll frowned, speaking up.

"Perhaps there were valuable things originally, but they've deteriorated beyond use over time."

Azure Fox sighed.

Earlier, they had found a medicinal herb field, but it was long abandoned, overrun with weeds, and utterly worthless.

Although they'd found nothing yet, at this point, all they could do was keep exploring.

During this process, White Goat turned to Selena and said, "You're a practitioner of Seer Magic. Can you predict which door we should explore next?"

They had just returned to the initial hall.

Hearing White Goat's words, the others also turned their eyes toward Selena.

"I'll try."

That was all Selena could say.

When she first arrived at this hall, she had sensed a strange fluctuation in fate, significantly interfering with her Seer Magic, making it difficult to accurately foresee events, just like when they first entered the Tower of Babel.

But after a while, she had gradually adapted to the "frequency" of this area, and could now exert slight influence.

She silently activated her ability. Countless possible futures appear in her eyes, like innumerable threads entangled together, forming a complex, chaotic web, making it hard to discern which thread led to which future.

She could only try her best to untangle and sort through them, searching for the correct future, seeking out the right thread.

After a long while, Selena finally pointed toward one door and said, "Go that way."

Hearing her, the group immediately moved in that direction.

Carlotta secretly felt astonished, because that door led exactly to where the alchemical airship was located. Selena had actually found the path that would yield results!

'Seer Magic... there really is something to it.'

Carlotta thought to herself.

But now a problem arose. According to the map she had seen, there was only one Alchemical airship. If so many people reached it together, who would end up obtaining it?

Sharing ownership? That was obviously unrealistic.

'Come to think of it, if another world truly exists, then this airship must be a remnant from that world. But could it still function?'

Carlotta pondered.

Time was the cruelest force; everything once new will grow old and decay. Even alchemical constructs, how long could they possibly last?

Perhaps the airship was no longer operational, but it certainly held immense research value.

If its research potential was astounding enough, then such an alchemical airship, unseen in the outside world, would undoubtedly spark a fierce scramble.

Carlotta had already prepared herself.

The group entered through the door, stepping into a vast warehouse.

This warehouse seemed to have once stored alchemical constructs. There were many such items here, but at a single glance, it was clear that all had corroded with age.

"Is this... a relic? What a pity."

White Goat picked up a sword and examined it. The blade was heavily rusted, its internal structure fractured and chaotic, completely unable to function. The moment magic power was channeled into it, it would collapse.

Relics were alchemical constructs surpassing even Artifacts!

"All top-tier items... but alas, time shows no mercy."

Golden Lion sighed.

There were many items here reaching relic level, and even more at the normal artifact level.

The group's eyes were sharp enough to discern the value of these artifacts, but now they were all junk.

"Everyone, do you have any interest in these broken things? Probably not, right? If not, I'll just collect them."

Azure Fox said casually.

The others glanced at him.

"Split it evenly. I want a share."

Doll stated.

"I want a share too."

Carlotta naturally claimed one as well.

One by one, the others voiced their claims, each demanding a portion. Azure Fox could only fall silent. These were just alchemical constructs, melted down, they wouldn't even yield usable materials, and people were still fighting over them?

Regardless, since everyone wanted a share, Azure Fox couldn't possibly monopolize it.

While dividing the loot, Carlotta mused that if she returned now, she'd likely have enough to construct a second-stage ship.

A first-stage ship was already on par with a top-tier Artifact. A second-stage alchemical ship would undoubtedly be a relic... then what about a third-stage alchemical ship?

Suddenly, Carlotta thought of this, her expression turning. Judging by this progression, the existence of a third-stage alchemical ship was slightly beyond the scope. Could it possibly rival a deity?

But if a third-stage alchemical ship were truly that powerful, how had the Pirate King acquired its blueprints back then?

'This Pirate King seems to have had quite an extraordinary experience. Hmm... He once left me a Lion Key, saying there were deeper secrets, but I wasn't strong enough back then to explore them. But now... am I strong enough? After the Tower of Babel operation ends, I should go and see what he left behind.'

Carlotta felt certain the Pirate King's story was far from simple, and her interest was fully piqued. There was bound to be something astonishing to discover.
