The Primitive Age, Lament of an Immortal(A mythological xianxia story)

Sisters of Fate

Beneath the firmament of stars

"Hhhrrrraaaagggghhhh!!!"

A banshee like screech erupted from the woman riding a bull. Heavenly phenomena centred around her rose at once, signalling towards Da Hai.

"OBEY!"

"OBEY!"

"OBEY!"

Da Hai narrowed his eyes, the voice was feminine, but also booming. The qualities of it reminded him of the Throne he had killed.

"Holiness as well, just what are you?" Da Hai said as he moved to attack. His titanic size wasn't used for wrestling in this case.

After all the previous bouts, Da Hai's true form appeared a lot less physical. His flesh, veins, scales, and hair follicles all had a watery texture. It was as if he'd returned to that primal state in the Chaos World of the Amatsukami.

His limbs ended in masses of liquid, parts of his neck were transparent. Aside from his appearance as a serpent, Da Hai more closely resembled a mass of water.

Who was he in the end? Da Hai was not a snake in the traditional sense. He was an innate god born from the Primitive World's earliest days. He was not like those postnatal creatures born from a mother and a father, of whom there were even species of multi headed serpents.

Just look at the Nine Infants demon, he was a nine headed serpent who cultivated to supremacy before the anti devil war. But he could not claim to be a similar form of being to Da Hai.

For the early generations of innate gods like Da Hai, they were embodiments of basic things. For Da Hai, he was literally the ocean. Only as Si Hai also incarnated into the four seas, was the nascent Da Hai pushed to the far east.

As such, while his true body was that eight headed serpent he'd dreamed up. And his Dao body that was used to enlighten himself, was a human male. The truest form of Da Hai was the salt water ocean as a concept. His true self if you will.

Even his name ties into it. The most ancient of deities of the Primitive World all used simplistic descriptions as their name. Completely unlike the latter generations.

So as the six armed three faced woman cut into Da Hai's throat using her scissors. Even as the force to snip the existences of so many chaos lifeforms before encroaches on Da Hai. His body melted into the ocean.

Surrounding her on all sides, Da Hai no longer possessed physical features. The concept of the sea overwrote the stars, turning the firmament of the stars into an ocean world.

The woman on her bull was caught in the twisting tides. Thrashed around helplessly while she screamed in rage. Torrents of lighting coursed through the sea continually, trying to free herself.

Da Hai had rarely fought like this before. But since experiencing a hypothetical crafted by this woman, it felt more at home.

She wanted him to be the personification of a phenomena right? Well he'd let her experience the ferocity of that phenomena herself.

"MOOOOOOO!!!"

The bull cried to the heavens above. Lightning crashed down upon his horns, bringing with it power from the upper air. From the edges of the ocean, the force behind the world of stars was fighting against Da Hai to reach its master.

"Still alive? You must've been tough. Or is intact the more accurate term to use?" Da Hai sneered at it.

He'd concluded that this firmament, and even the one above it were creatures like him. Yet they had seemingly also lost their intelligence.

The why was ultimately unimportant. His ocean mass pierced the veil to shut off the firmament of clouds. His waves crashed against the firmament of stars using his superior cultivation base.

His Dao fruit simultaneously ensured none of the woman's control could reach him. The impossibility to reach with her threads was frustrating her to no end.

In anger, she cut across the ocean's surface with her scissors. Its blade snipping into the ever expanding ocean, creating a deep trench.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

"Is that all evil spirit?" Da Hai spat angrily. Water pushed upwards, toppling the woman and her mount over. In the same way a beast closes its jaw in a crushing bite, that wave crashed down.

"Perish for me!"

Da Hai's opponent released a terrifying wail. A look of shock was present on the all three female faces. The celestial bull's electricity was snuffed out underwater despite its thrashing.

"Moooo!!!"

The bull attempted to gather a storm to unleash punishment lighting. But Da Hai was having non of it. He beat the creature with punches formed from his water.

The scissors that Da Hai could sense the ability to terminate any lesser being's existence by ending their timeline was utterly incapable of beating the endless ocean. So the three faced six armed woman made a new plan.

It had never struggled like this in its long years of existence. Never in tens of thousands of years did it expect a being as high as this eight headed serpent to appear.

It had no warrior's instinct, nor warrior's ambition. Martial prowess was not the role it deemed itself. Yet even so, it felt enraged to the point of performing it.

Within the sea, Da Hai's consciousness saw the woman's expression shift. He scoffed, believing victory was in sight.

"It didn't have to be this way," he muttered.

"HOLY!" Three female sneering voices said.

Da Hai was startled at the chant. His Dao spun profusely against a sudden expanding holy domain. Holy and Dao burned each other, the former erasing traces of the latter.

A world of normality. Mountains sat peacefully as a result of tectonic motion, forests sprouting as a result of seeds. Animals created in for the purpose of inhabiting the land dotted about.

The concept of qi that could be cultivated towards immortality was not present. Humans lived their lives without the capabilities for flight, nor could they touch upon higher mysteries.

Cities were built brick by brick by hand. Kingdoms were established by armies thousands strong clashing against each other. But without the presence of champions who could single handedly turn the tides.

It was its own independent universe of sorts. Formed from the holiness of angelic powers that had been studied and absorbed. Deployed for the first time since being obtained.

Neither combatants expected this move to be made. Neither combatants enjoyed it either. Even its caster didn't fully comprehend before using it.

"Break!"

CRACK!

The sound of glass shattering followed by torrents of water engulfing the illusionary holy world. The Dao of Distant Seas felt the threat from an antithesis, an energy that sought to erase it. Thus it, and its owner acted in kind.

Holy was an energy Da Hai encountered twice before, both in the form of angels. The first time was a living Throne who he'd quickly killed. The latter were remnants from pieces of debris.

Its presence now caused him to pause. In that moment however, was enough for a burst of tribulation lighting to last through Da Hai's blockade.

The woman and her mount stood in high once more, her eyes held only one emotion. Pure anger.

"How dare you," the rightmost head said.

"Mere living being," the centre had said.

"Obey your fate," the leftmost said.

"Three bitches," Da Hai insulted them back. No such goodwill existed in him anymore. "I know who and what you are now."

From their brutal exchanges, he'd deduced a lot. He hadn't been able to properly sense her because of all the interferences from his surroundings.

But as he continued to beat her black and blue using his own body's innards, he could finally tell her apart. He'd been fighting within someone else's body this whole time. In fact, he'd done so twice.

"Merely a world will puppeting its betters," Da Hai said. His mind drifted to another world will he's had similar experiences with. "How did you trick these bastards into giving you their body?"

The same tendency to throw a hissy fit when things don't go their way. Just from memory, she appeared to be a more successful version of the Heavenly Dao.

"FATE!" She roared. Celestial phenomena pulsates around her to form an aurora borealis. In the backdrop, as part of the stars that had not been overwritten by Da Hai's true self, numerous constellations shone.

The spindle shook in her hand, the measuring stick rubbed along the threads it produced. Da Hai's endless ocean reached out in the form of a titanic snake head.

No skin, no flesh, no bone, only water. Da Hai's featureless ocean finally gained texture as it aimed a bite at the woman.

"Mmmmoooo!!!"

Her bull mount reared on his hind legs. His mistress performed several motions, emitting a mysterious presence. The string from the spindle reached the scissors, which then snipped down.

A wide grin appeared on the enraged woman's face. A maniacal look born from the pleasure of dealing a killing blow.

She looked into the last, measured the prescient, and directed the future. Measuring out Da Hai's timeline as soon as entered her Chaos World.

Fate entered the great serpent that was about to snap its jaws shut. It was so close, only slightly slower because of the white bull's own speed. She would never admit it, but she was glad for acquiring him when she did.

As fate seeped into Da Hai's mouth, forming a rope down to the ocean's surface, three scissors manifested along its length.

"Three times, three lives, three ends." Da Hai heard her say with glee. His attack pulled back abruptly.

"I decide, I decide, I DECIDE. Natural things shouldn't exist!" The woman shouted with a voice that echoed across the firmament of stars.

With a crash, the rising water crashed back into the endless ocean. At its edges. The recovering hand of stars dug into the water's side.

Past, present, future, a single attack aimed at the three points of time that makes up a person. Her world, her rules, she is the one who begins, writes out, and ends lifetimes. From this perspectives, an outside like Da Hai who would not comply, was an unnatural thing.

"Haha. Hahahahahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

It was not the woman who laughed, she was the one shocked by it. Da Hai chuckled from out of his true self. Upon its surface, an eight headed serpent slowly rose out with its heads lowered.

Huffing and puffing for breath, she notice red blood and drool dripping from the jaws of that beast.

"Good one sisters," Da Hai said. "You truly are a master at karma."

She gasped, ignoring the unfamiliar word 'karma', she couldn't believe he'd survived. She had downed the disobedient primordials using that same move. Erasing someone's past, present, and future meant cutting them off from existence permanently.

"You are Moirai, the sisters of fate," Da Hai looked up at her. "But you overestimated your own perspective, and underestimated mine. The arrogance of someone who's never lost."

He stood back up, slapping his tail across the surface of the ocean to knock away the stellar hand. "I knew the mythology I was walking into the moment I heard Zagreus' name from Yurlunggur. Just didn't expect you to be a Heavenly Dao."

Truthfully, Da Hai was never a hundred percent sure of any accuracy pertaining to his inherited knowledge. But he was expecting a post natal deity with master over a Fate Dao instead of her.

"Yaaaahhhh!!!" The Heavenly Dao riding the white bull screamed with rage. The defiance, the audacity, the mockery exhibited by Da Hai was too much for her to bear. She charged more killing blows towards him.

Da Hai gently rubbed his side with his webbed claw. In terms of power, she was truly strong. Easily in the same weight class as both Yurlunggur and himself, stronger then Luohu was way back when.

It truly goes to show that anything could happen in the Chaos Sea. Normally, world wills would not posses any kind of higher intelligence, nor the level of power possessed by the sisters or the Heavenly Dao.

If one were to claim world wills/Heavenly Dao's as a species, Da Hai would say she and the one from the Three Realms to be the cream of the crop.

"DESTROY YOU!!!"

Da Hai's eight headed form melted into a single snake head. He pulled back from the approaching Moirai, and spat out an object.

Flying out was a small sculpture that appeared to be made of ice. It was in the shape of a canine, a wolf to be specific. It was in the stance of a howling wolf.

To the sisters, it appeared somewhat ordinary with middling craftsmanship. But she could also tell that there was a deadly mystery to it.

It was a spiritual treasure of the chaos rank.

Da Hai smiled in a rather evil way. "Go fenrir, kill."
