Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 247: Making a deal

There was no point in chasing them since she could just keep using the dark mist to escape.

At the same time, running into the dark mist wasn't a smart idea either since there was no telling what was out there.

In the first place, the most important thing was making sure that the city was safe and that had been taken care of after we dealt with the Asura and the Minotaur.

There was a reason why the Asura and Minotaur tribes were among the top tribes of the demon race. The prestige that they held which came with the power that they possessed was enough to deter the rest of the demons once they were defeated.

They certainly didn't want to fight the people that had taken down an Asura and a Minotaur.

For lower rank demons like them, it really wasn't something that they could deal with.

"Phew, it's a good thing that they weren't smart or else that would have been a problem." I couldn't help thinking to myself.

After all, it wasn't as if I was strong enough to deal with them without using my extra skills.

The only reason that I had been able to deal with them was because there was that attribute difference between us. The holy attribute of the hero's sword was enough to suppress the demonic energy that they possessed.

As well as the fact that they just simply weren't that smart.

Once the demons pulled away, I gave a nod and said to myself, "Stupid demon, it's all up to you now."

Aragon came over and said, "Are you ready?"

I gave a nod before saying, "Just go and take care of it, but don't take too long."

Aragon gave a nod of acknowledgement in return.

"So you were able to save them?"

The dark elf was surprised to hear this voice since it wasn't one that she had been expecting, but she revealed a stern look on her face as she said, "It wasn't as if I could just leave them there."

The demon that she was talking to gave a simple nod in response before saying, "Then what are your plans now?"

The dark elf didn't say anything as she fell into deep thought.

There really wasn't much that she could do since the other side had someone that could take care of the Minotaur and the Asura. If she were to fight the other side, she certainly wouldn't win in a head on fight since she was weaker than them head on.

She might be confident in assassinating that person, but she knew that it wasn't likely either.

After all, there was someone that had been watching her the entire time.

But she was surprised that this person…or rather this elf had been there in the first place.

It wasn't just an elf as well, it was also a high elf.

After a long silence, the dark elf said, "We have no other choice but to keep pushing. Even if we fail, we have to at least sacrifice most of the weaker demons for this campaign since that's what's expected. We either come back with loot or the population gets reduced so there's more resources to split."

That was the way of the demons, they got what they wanted one way or another.

If not from the humans, they would take it from their fellow demons.

The demon that she was talking to gave another nod to show he understood before suddenly saying, "But what if I said that I have a solution to this?"

The dark elf narrowed her eyes to look at this demon before suddenly giving a snort.

If it wasn't for the fact that this demon was the demon king, she wouldn't have even bothered saying this much or listened to him this entire time.

But it didn't seem like the demon was discouraged hearing this, instead there was even a smile that appeared on his face as he said, "Now, now, don't be in a rush to dismiss this. There's something that I want to discuss with you and it's something that I want to discuss in private. So if possible, can you release your mist?"

The dark elf narrowed her eyes to look at him after hearing this, but she couldn't help feeling strange seeing the way that he looked at her.

So in the end, she gave a slow nod before releasing her dark mist.

Once the dark mist covered the area, she saw him take out a small altar before inserting something into that small altar. After that thing was inserted into the altar, it seemed like there was this strange feeling that was coming from it.

The dark elf could tell that these were mana fluctuations, but these weren't like any mana fluctuations that she felt before.

It kept feeling strange to her until there was something that seemed familiar that appeared.

"You…" The dark elf said in a low and threatening voice before pulling out her daggers.

That was because the aura that came from this altar was the same as the one that she felt coming from the high elf that she saw earlier. In fact, there was even the figure of that high elf that was appearing.

As a dark elf, she was sensitive to this kind of thing and could tell that the other side was a high elf.

Through gritted teeth, she said, "You've betrayed the demon race?"

The demon king just simply revealed a smile and said, "Who says that? This is just an old friend of mine and I was hoping that the three of us can come to some kind of deal."

The high elf that appeared gave a nod before saying, "Right, I wanted to meet you since that clash we had in the city. I've always heard of dark elves, but I've certainly never met one before."

The dark elf was still wary, but eventually she said, "Speak quickly. Tell me what you want or else I'll release this dark mist and show everyone your connection to this high elf."
