Chapter 699: Interrogation

From dozens of meters away in the darkness, a rustling sound kept emerging, occasionally mixed with a crisp snapping noise, reminding Diyuoge of her favorite dish, fried rice noodles.

She grew up in the Dust Tribulation Fire district of the Tribulation Fire Temple, where Dust Tribulation Fire oversees an entire Gray Fox farm, producing 50% of the grain for the Senluo Wasteland. With ample food supplies, they naturally put effort into their cuisine. Diyuoge's top three gourmet recommendations are a deep-fried flour called "Fried Ghost," steamed rice batter known as "rice noodles," and her ultimate favorite, "fried rice noodles," which is Fried Ghost wrapped in rice noodles.

The rice noodles absorb the savory soy sauce flavor, and the wrapper is as smooth as milk, while the Fried Ghost is crispy and sweet, a delightful contrast as you chew. When combined to make fried rice noodles, the first bite feels like a silky kiss, followed by the salty soy sauce awakening your entire palate, and the crunchy Fried Ghost exploding between your teeth, with the flour's sweetness permeating every gap.

Every day, as she wakes up, Diyuoge loves to eat a serving of fried rice noodles. Even when confused after returning from the Void Realm, this carb-loaded delicacy seems to pull her back to the Dust Tribulation Wasteland. Even after tasting various more expensive and rare delicacies, she still craves a plate of fried rice noodles the most.

But the sounds coming from the darkness were not from someone eating fried rice noodles.

It was the Green Beasts gnawing on bones and sucking marrow.

The thousands of corpses left outside attracted countless Green Beast packs. They dared not approach during the day, only daring to dig up and feast on these bodies at night—flesh, tendons, organs, bones... even the blood-soaked sand didn't escape their voracious appetite, as if their insatiable hunger had burned away all their reason.

This time, so many had died that even after two days, the bodies were not yet consumed.

If only a few dozen had died, the ground would be as clean as if licked (physically) by the next day.

Diyuoge stood watch on the watchtower, while several dozen meters away was a twisting, dark night where even the light of faith was swallowed. Behind her was the enormous fortress that the Four Pillars God Sect had built over the past two days.

Thousands of Earth Magic and Senluo Mages combined their spells to forge this city of blood, corpses, and vines!

Among the builders, there wasn't a single Necromancer. The walls were covered in corpses purely due to the availability of materials—three days ago, this place was still occupied by the Qinri Alliance, but the Four Pillars God Sect suddenly launched their entire army, ignoring the other battlefronts' situation, pouring all their forces here, even the Legendary Mage Oleva 'Destroyer of the Pope' joined in, annihilating the Qinri Alliance's thirty thousand Mage army, rivers of blood flowed, bodies covered the earth!

Diyuoge took a deep breath, smelling the strong scent of decay in the air that even tickled her throat. She swallowed, unscrewed the glass bottle on the table, and gulped down the blood-red wine inside.

The adherents of Tribulation Fire were not allowed to enjoy life; delicacies were the limit, and not a drop of alcohol was allowed. Diyuoge used to think there was nothing good about alcohol, but after joining the Four Pillars God Sect, she couldn't stop, almost never letting go of alcohol.

However, she was a Weak Mage, and the state between drunk and sober was just a thought away, so it didn't matter. She even summoned a Technique Spirit that the more she drank, the more beautiful she became.

Normally, though, she wouldn't drink while working. Though the Four Pillars God Sect had no taboos, neglecting duties meant a dead end. Everyone knew that the Honorable Seat could descend upon any believer at any time, seemingly possessing their body to check if they were doing their work diligently, so who dared to slack off?

Still, this bottle of wine was truly different. Diyuoge felt her Technique Spirit scratching at her heartstrings. Considering the recent fierce battles, the Qinri Alliance had indeed suffered heavy casualties, but was there any less of the Four Pillars God Sect's own corpses in this bloody city wall?

Maybe she'd die tomorrow. With such a thought, the Honorable Seat's performance review didn't seem so terrifying. Diyuoge drank the wine, her eyes dreamy, as she took a black crystal from her pocket and rubbed its oleophobic coating, lost in thought.

Suddenly, she felt her consciousness blur.

When she came to, she found herself being tightly held, unable to move. She subconsciously wanted to scream for help, but could only force out an almost mosquito-like sound: "En~emy~a~ttack~"

Technique Spirit · Flash Fire!

Since she was on lookout duty, she naturally had a warning ability! This Technique Spirit could shoot out an extremely dazzling white flame, visible even from a hundred meters away, and close up, it could even blind someone!

However, the white flame never shot out. It exploded directly on her face! Even though she was the master of the Flash Fire Technique Spirit, the dazzling light made her eyes tear up.

Mind Control!

Holy Domain!

Diyuoge, seasoned from countless battles, immediately realized she was trapped inside a Holy Domain. A Holy Domain can be used for protection, but naturally, it can also be used to imprison.

She felt a chill in her heart, knowing she had reached a dead end. After all, she was just a Silver Mage and had caught the attention of a Holy Sanctuary Mage!

A few seconds later, as her vision cleared, she looked up to see three men, a woman, a beast, and a Black Crow staring at her. She glanced to the side and saw a pale-faced, beautiful girl holding her. The girl not only had tremendous strength but also icy, non-human limbs. More importantly, the strong stench of a corpse kept invading her nose.

In a split second, Diyuoge knew who these people were: "Undying Gospel Ash?"
