The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 152: The Only Way to Overcome the Curse of Chaos

The light cascading from the dome not only shocked the four Demon Generals but also the residents and Adventurers active in Mist Town.

Gazing at the suddenly-lit dome, numerous humans shouldering Firearms as they patrolled showed expressions of blatant surprise on their faces.

"What is that?!"

"How did it suddenly get bright?"

"Could it be Chaos..."

"It shouldn't be, right?!"

The mercenary trade has a high turnover rate. Many of them have only been in the business for a few months and have not seen Mist Town as it used to be.

The crowd exchanged bemused glances, whispering among themselves in hushed tones.

Hearing these greenhorns' increasingly absurd conjectures, a somewhat older mercenary couldn't help but curl his lips and finally interjected.

"What's there to be so surprised about? It used to be like this here a year ago; it just suddenly stopped being bright last year."

A young mercenary asked curiously.

"Is it because the Demon King went to the surface?"

"Who knows why," the older mercenary shook his head, squinting at the dome that emitted silver light, "but my gut tells me this isn't anything good."

Another mercenary beside them cracked a smile, speaking in a casual tone.

"Whether it's good or bad isn't our concern; let those Nobles worry about that, we just need to do our job and stand guard."

A mighty Maze has never been good news for the local human Lords, especially with rumors that the Duke of Campbell has been unwell recently, and the Duchy might face a change of power.

If the Demon King representing the forces of Hell were to recover first, it would undoubtedly be a heavy blow to the Campbell Duchy.

However, for a mercenary, pondering over these matters seemed far too remote, as the state of the Campbell Duchy appeared to have no relevance to him.

Could the Duke of Campbell truly represent the interests of humanity?

He used to believe this without doubt, but after dealing with those kings and Nobles for a while, he realized that they were not any more noble than the Demons.

Saint Sis and the Demon God are merely two sides of the same coin. It is because of this thought that he, who works for Demons, feels no guilt whatsoever.

Perhaps it's also because the Lord Demon King hasn't revealed his evil side yet; at least for now, he thinks this employer isn't too bad.

He believes that the respected Alex, the group leader, must think the same.

That gentleman is true Nobility, and even he isn't concerned about the rise of the Maze, so it's utterly absurd for a mere mercenary like him to worry about those things.

The anomaly in the dome caused quite a stir in Mist Town.

But as time passed, when people realized that the silver-white light had no effect on them, they settled down one after another.

Meanwhile, not far from the outskirts of Mist Town, the Dark Night Elves gazing at the dome were so shocked by this anomaly that they couldn't recover for a long while.

Looking at the moonlight that covered the forest, Helen's lips quivered slightly, and her wide eyes resembled ripe almonds.

"By the Demon God..."

"Is, is this... the Crystal of the dome being repaired?!"

Sitting beside her, Sherry let out an exclamation of astonishment, eyes wide and face filled with surprise and disbelief.

Praise Lord Demon King!

He truly kept his promise!

Although she had never doubted him, she also hadn't expected this day to come so soon.

Just then, the sound of a horn suddenly echoed through the forest.

Hearing the prolonged horn, the two who were immersed in surprise just a moment ago, instantly reined in their smiles and stood up alertly from the tree branches.

That was the horn of assembly!

Helen and Sherry exchanged a knowing look and immediately understood each other's intentions. They leapt down from the trees and quickly vanished into the misty forest.

The melodious sound of the horn traveled farther and farther, stirring all the hunters in the forest to mobilize towards the source of the sound!

Similar scenes were not just happening on the fourth level of the Maze.

Back in the War Palace, Glak gathered his subordinates. Nearly five thousand Beastman Warriors armed themselves and assembled under the flag of their Clan.

From the sixth to the ninth levels in the War Corridor, to the tenth level's Desperate City, and even the deeper Frozen Ice Holy Land and Demon King Palace... Vast troops were gathering in the same direction!

They were the remnants of Reggie Dragon's not-yet-destroyed foundation.

They were also the last force of the entire Maze!

These once scattered individuals had come together once again.

This time, not for anyone's ambition—

But for themselves!

...

Flags fluttering, drums roaring!

In the fifth layer of the Maze, upon desolate wastelands, heads of vibrant green bobbed, and bloodthirsty brutality shone in turbid eyeballs.

Unlike the belly-less Ogres.

Their skeletons were more upright, their muscles firmer!

Setting aside their dark green skin and protruding fangs, they looked almost identical to surface-dwelling humans!

Gazing at the Beastman Army assembling on the wastelands, Players grinding monsters showed expressions of amazement on their faces.

"Is there a new event happening?"

"Damn! So many people!"

The battle-ready troops amassed on the plains, dimming even the ominous light of the Gate of Chaos in the distance.

That was a true war machine.

Forged by blood and fire, made of steel!

Their equipment couldn't be considered exquisite, even simply rough, yet no one dared to question their combat strength!
