North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 535: Meeting with the Father-in-law (Part 2)

Charon also stood up, "Alright, I will."

Jimmy left the Intercontinental Hotel and went directly to Nia's home. Nia was still in a wheelchair, not because her injuries were severe, but to prevent any accidental bumps. After all, she didn't need to go out for work; it wasn't inconvenient to stay in a wheelchair at home.

In the evening, Kevin returned from outside and directly called Jimmy who was sitting in the living room to come to the study.

Kevin sat on the couch in the study, and Jimmy, who was already very familiar with this study, took half a bottle of wine and two glasses from the cabinet on the side, and sat next to Kevin. "Kevin, what's up? It seems like you're not in a good mood."

Kevin took a sip of the wine that Jimmy poured for him, then said, "Jimmy, do you know a gang leader named Francisco Montello?"

Jimmy nodded, "The boss of the Poison Snake Gang, from the Hell's Kitchen area. What's up?"

Kevin: "Tonight, I met him at a club, introduced by another person. However, he didn't say much, just exchanged a few words. I remember the person who hit Nia was from his gang, right?"

Jimmy: "Don't worry, it's already taken care of today. Tomorrow they'll go to the police station to turn themselves in to Chuck."

Kevin: "Tell me more."

Jimmy: "Today, I've already met with people from the Poison Snake Gang, including Francisco Montello, and the core members of their gang all showed up.

The person Nia was chasing was from their gang, nicknamed Lightning. One of their members, Max, had his brother Jack stage a minor accident to buy some time, but Jack screwed it up, hitting Nia directly.

They probably didn't know Nia's identity before, but they do now, and they need to do something to apologize. I think Francisco Montello was trying to get to know you first; he might contact you again later."

Kevin was silent, slowly sipped his drink, and then abruptly changed the topic, "Jimmy, you've been in the public affairs office for quite some time now. Have they told you when you can go back to field work?"

Jimmy curled his lips, looking helpless, "No news yet, they never specified how long I have to stay there."

Kevin: "Well, can you find some time to go somewhere recently?"

Jimmy: "What's up?"

Kevin: "I have a friend, Alexander Harrington. Our families have had a long-standing friendship, tracing back to our ancestors. After graduating from Harvard Law School, he worked at a law firm in New York City for a few years, then returned to Buffalo, focusing on business law and real estate.

He has a villa in Lancaster County, east of Buffalo, but recently some unusual things have been happening there. Often at night, there are strange noises. He thought it might be wild animals, but couldn't find anything.

He had some local people check it out, but found nothing. I was considering asking someone from the detective department, but now it seems you're more suitable, though I'm not sure if you can take a two-day leave."

Jimmy: "Give me the address and contact details, I'll see how I can get time off."

Kevin got up, went to the desk, checked his phone, then wrote down a number and name on a piece of paper and handed it to Jimmy. "I'll send you the address after confirming it."

Jimmy nodded, "No problem."

A task from the future father-in-law must be dealt with quickly; it's different from other tasks, as it concerns his well-being in the future.

After work, Jimmy took a leave from his supervisor, Mrs. Mason, to handle some personal matters. Mrs. Mason knew about his fiancée's car accident, which many people were aware of. Also, there was more to the story than just a simple accident, so after a brief scolding, she granted him a few days of leave.

This was because Jimmy did not have a strong presence in the office; with or without him, it did not make much difference to others, so Mrs. Mason didn't stop him.

With his leave granted, Jimmy returned to his office to prepare and printed out maps of Buffalo and the surrounding area. The distance from New York to Buffalo is not close; driving takes about six hours, although flying is quicker, the time spent on airport security and such is considerable.

For convenience, Jimmy decided to drive. He's used to long drives anyway.

At noon, Charon called Jimmy. The distance from Federal Square to the Intercontinental Hotel was short, so Jimmy walked over, helping him digest his food.

Charon led Jimmy to a meeting room, "Mr. Yang, I want to ask, if Ms. Perkins shows up, what will you do?"

Jimmy looked at Charon, squinted a bit, and thought for a moment, "Is she one of yours?"

Charon: "Pretty much."

Jimmy: "What's Winston's attitude?"

Charon: "We are neutral, we are just a service agency; they do not belong to us."

Jimmy got up, went to the wine rack, poured himself a glass of Glenlivet Whisky, and with his back to Charon said, "And you?"

Charon: "I have no opinion."

Jimmy paused, looking at the glass in his hand, "Charon, I'll give her a chance. Hand over someone, let them go to the NYPD detective bureau and confess to Detective Chuck. Should be doable, right?"

Jimmy downed his drink, set down the glass, and shook hands with Charon, "My bottom line is that this case needs to be concluded."

Charon nodded slightly and shook Jimmy's hand, saying, "I will convey your message."

Jimmy nodded and left the meeting room, with Charon following behind, escorting him to the hotel entrance before turning back inside.

As Jimmy walked back to Federal Square, he pondered Charon's attitude.

When Charon initially asked what Jimmy would do if he found the person, he had subtly expressed Winston's intention.

Perkins had no subordinate relationship with the Intercontinental Hotel, yet she definitely knew Winston and their relationship was at least better than mere acquaintances.

They surely didn't want Jimmy to directly take her out or vice versa; they just hadn't decided specifically how to handle it yet.

Oh well, give them some face. If it allows Nia and Chuck to wrap up the murder case, that's enough. After all, it's just the triggering event for Nia's injury, not the cause, so Jimmy doesn't have a strong inclination to forcibly solve the murder case.

Early the next morning, Jimmy drove out of his apartment, headed towards Lancaster City, by Lake Erie. New York State's roads are decent; once (he was) out of New York City, there aren't as many cars, allowing him to pick up the pace, though he adhered to the speed limit based on his driving habits, not speeding too much.

Buffalo, also known as the City of Buffalo, is New York State's second-largest city, with the largest being New York City of course. Buffalo has a long history and rich cultural background; it's an important industrial city once known for steel, shipbuilding, and automotive manufacturing, with numerous historical buildings, museums, and cultural institutions, offering diverse art and cultural experiences.

Lancaster City is just east of Buffalo, not far from Lake Erie, known for its beautiful rural landscape and pleasant climate, with abundant farmland, lush greenery, and stunning scenery, making it an ideal location for building secluded luxury villas.

At noon, Jimmy found a restaurant by the road to have lunch and rest, before successfully arriving in Lancaster County in the afternoon and locating Alexander Harrington's villa.

This was a somewhat aged three-story estate villa, with a nineteenth-century architectural style, red-brick white edges, triangular gables, high roofs, with protruding decorative carvings and lace contours, protruding window sills, and some seemingly ancient iron railings on the exposed balconies.

Over the years, Jimmy had also acquired quite a bit of knowledge in this area, but in New York, such architectural styles were rare. The city had been overly transformed, with most buildings, except for a very few historical ones, being replaced in the waves of urban expansion.
