North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 533: Tracking Made Easy (Part 2)

Jimmy smiled as he drove and followed from afar, he was driving his own Mercedes CLS. This car was not as conspicuous as the Suburban, and it wouldn't stand out much in the traffic on the road. As long as no one noted down the license plate number, he should not be discovered.

On this weekend in the Manhattan District, the traffic was noticeably less than on a weekday. Liliana's car quickly left Manhattan, heading towards Jersey City across the river. Jimmy followed behind, somewhat hesitant.

Jersey City can be considered a satellite city of New York. Quite a few people choose to settle in Jersey City and commute across the river to work. The transportation is convenient, and crucially, Jersey City is large, with cheaper housing prices and rents much lower than Manhattan.

Jimmy had also considered buying a villa in the suburbs of Jersey City for living purposes. The environment here was obviously much better than in Manhattan. However, a big trouble for Jimmy now is that Jersey City belongs to New Jersey, while he is with the FBI's New York Manhattan office. Although he has enforcement power here, technically it's crossing jurisdictions.

Following Liliana all the way to the northwest corner of Jersey City, Jimmy watched as Liliana parked in front of a villa and entered the house. He drove past the house, which contained four people including Liliana—two sitting in a study, another in the living room, and someone in a room on the second floor.

Noting the house number, Jimmy called Chuck, asking him to find out who owns the house.

Chuck's investigation continued, while Jimmy remained on surveillance. When it comes to surveillance, apart from a professional monitoring team, Jimmy believed that the people Chuck found wouldn't be better than him because Chuck's data didn't include any residences of these gang leaders, nor did it include their hidden safe houses.

The accident driver's brother, Max Hamilton, usually works in security at the Snake Dance Club. His disappearance this time must have been because his brother was arrested after the car accident. Generally, a car accident wouldn't cause the party responsible to be arrested. Moreover, his brother did not have any active arrest warrant at the time, so there must be a special reason for his arrest, making it understandable for him to hide.

However, finding his hiding place is difficult. Manhattan is not big, but there are many gangs and many apartments where one can hide without being found easily.

Now Jimmy is using a tactic to smoke out the snake by scaring it. Liliana met with Jimmy and got his business card, so she would definitely investigate his identity. Jimmy's identity is not a secret, and for the gang, it's not difficult to find some connections to get some basic information about him.

Being monitored by someone like him, they would definitely panic and naturally make mistakes, making it very likely to meet the target by following Liliana.

More than half an hour later, Liliana came out of the villa through the front door, got into her car, and left.

Jimmy didn't continue to wait here. Chuck could check New York data, but data from New Jersey would definitely require some connections to investigate, which takes time. Until he was sure whose villa this was, watching at the door was meaningless.

Following Liliana, they quickly entered a return route back to Manhattan. All the way back to the restaurant, after entering the restaurant, Liliana did not come out again, so Jimmy could only wait outside. It wasn't dinnertime yet, and entering the restaurant directly would be too odd.

In the evening, Jimmy found that one of his targets appeared—a female waitress suspected of being a gunman arrived at the restaurant on a motorcycle, parked it in the nearby alley, and walked into the restaurant with a bag.

Riding the motorcycle without a helmet, what were the NYPD patrol officers doing, not stopping her? New York State requires that both motorcycle riders and passengers must wear helmets.

Jimmy wasn't handling a case, so there was no need to leave any evidence or archives, and he didn't bring a camera. He started following the supposed gunman waitress as she entered the restaurant and saw her go into the dressing room at the back.

Well, there's a problem. Although he wasn't observing on-site, Jimmy did notice her taking a gun from a locker in the dressing room to check it, then taking out clothes inside to change. Definitely a problem, who would have a spare gun at their workplace and check it first thing when arriving?

The target appeared, Jimmy glanced at his phone, and all afternoon, Liliana hadn't called him.

Soon, Liliana and the gunman waitress came out of the restaurant. The gunman waitress was still wearing the restaurant uniform, carrying a sports barrel bag, got into Liliana's Camry, and left the restaurant.

In front of an under-construction building, Jimmy parked and took a look. Liliana's car turned in, and the security opened the gate for her, indicating they were familiar with the security there. The building looked like it was temporarily halted, with no large machinery visible and not many people, seeming to be just the security there.

Confirming their location, Jimmy parked on the roadside ahead, turning and watching them. Soon, Liliana's car came out, now with only one person inside.

This under-construction building seemed to be the temporary safe house they chose. Jimmy thought for a moment, deciding it wouldn't hurt to follow Liliana. He turned around and continued following her to the Snake Dance Club.

Liliana parked nearby and walked in. Jimmy didn't wait outside either; instead, he got out of the car and followed inside. This was another base of the Poison Snake Gang, and if luck was on his side, other leaders of their gang might appear here, allowing him to conduct his surveillance all at once.

The Snake Dance Club didn't look particularly large from the outside, with only two guards maintaining order around the front entrance, dressed in suits. It didn't resemble the chaotic underground nightclubs that Jimmy had seen from other gangs.

The Poison Snake Gang was somewhat intriguing; Jimmy entered the nightclub, the deafening music in his ears, the dancing crowd in the dance floor, everything seeming normal.

It was bad—he had kept a bit too much distance following Liliana, and after entering the nightclub, Jimmy lost sight of his target.

Ordering a beer at the bar, Jimmy sat next to it, observing the crowd in the nightclub, trying to find a few people he had seen in photos.

He hadn't finished his beer before immediately setting down the glass and leaving the nightclub. He had just seen Liliana accompany someone towards the main entrance, who appeared to be Miguel Rodriguez, nicknamed "Shadow," the second-in-command of the Poison Snake Gang.

Outside, Jimmy headed towards his car, abandoning the trail on Liliana, and followed Miguel's car as it left the Snake Dance Club.

At an apartment building, Miguel entered an apartment, heading to a second-floor room where a burly man opened the door for him, and the two started chatting inside.

Waiting for Miguel to leave, Jimmy entered the apartment and knocked on the second-floor room's door.

"What's the matter? Is there anything else?" The person inside asked while opening the door. After seeing a Chinese man in a suit, he reacted.

"Max Hamilton?" Jimmy asked, and the person inside immediately tried to close the door, but Jimmy forced it open, the rush preventing the door's force from matching Jimmy's. He successfully opened the door.

"Don't move." Jimmy pulled out his Glock, aiming it at the person inside, asking again, "Max Hamilton?"

The man in the room first lost the strength struggle, bumped by the door, injuring his arm, and staggered back a couple of steps to stand firm. Just when he was about to retaliate, he saw a gun pointed at his torso, immediately stopped his actions, slowly raising his hands, "I am. Who are you?"

Jimmy gestured with his gun, "Go in. Turn around."

Jimmy searched him, possibly because being in the safe house, he was somewhat relaxed, with no weapons on him. Jimmy pulled a zip tie from his belt with his left hand, tying his hands behind him and pushing him onto a chair by the dining table, holstering the Glock afterward.

Jimmy took a pair of disposable gloves from the outer pocket of his suit as he wore them, saying, "Max, you probably know why I'm looking for you, right? Let's hear it. I need to know the answer. Who arranged for your brother to hit someone?"
