North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 481: Bring In Reinforcements! (2)

Of course, he wouldn't let Caitlin help him investigate Greg, just check on Nick Sullivan. Although he's Greg's man, investigating the underlings wouldn't easily trigger the security alert mechanism.

Caitlin didn't keep Jimmy waiting too long; she replied by noon that she was at the Anti-Terrorism Bureau. Jimmy changed into his professional attire in the afternoon and drove his CLS to the Anti-Terrorism Bureau.

"I'm looking for Director Caitlin. FBI Senior Agent Jimmy Yang," Jimmy reported at the reception. After she contacted the higher-ups, he smoothly entered the Anti-Terrorism Bureau building.

Caitlin's office, as the director, Caitlin was of course dressed professionally—beige women's suit and trousers, white shirt. Just looking at the outfit, it's the standard office professional attire.

Caitlin: "Sit down, Jimmy, what brings you here?"

Jimmy nodded: "Nothing major, just wanted to confirm the follow-up with you. How's the situation down south?"

Caitlin: "No need to worry, it's been handled. Tony's people did a poor job; we've verified that he didn't contact anyone else. It should just be a spur-of-the-moment decision to call in two people."

Jimmy: "Does it have anything to do with the supervisor over there?"

Caitlin shook her head: "No, and Tony wasn't brought over by him either."

Jimmy nodded: "Then he should be someone from the deceased former supervisor. That puts my mind at ease. There's been too much happening recently, and if this issue had further developments, it would really be too distressing."

Caitlin smiled and said: "What are you worried about? Even if they do decide to act, I'll stop them. They don't know the situation, but I'm very clear on it. Barrio's estate lost twenty-eight security personnel that night, including his bodyguard, Ralph Reeves."

Jimmy: "Was that Ralph quite famous? You actually remembered a bodyguard's name."

Caitlin: "Yes, Ralph Reeves, a former Ranger. He fled the country due to multiple murder charges and stayed in Mexico since. We remembered him because he once crossed the border to assassinate a DEA agent. Although he was highly suspected, there wasn't enough evidence, and the matter never shared intelligence with DEA."

Jimmy: "Alright, there wasn't significant difference at the time anyway. By the way, can you do me a favor and investigate someone?"

Caitlin: "Who?"

Jimmy: "A small-time figure."

Caitlin nodded, and Jimmy picked up the pen and paper from her desk, wrote down Nick Sullivan's name and address, and gave it to Caitlin.

Caitlin: "Alright, I'll let you know when there are results."

Jimmy: "OK, thanks."

Jimmy stood up, buttoned his jacket, shook hands with Caitlin, and left her office. With Caitlin's assurance, it seems Tom's concerns shouldn't materialize. After all, it's the 21st century now, far removed from the Cold War days of Tom's era, and the new CIA chief likely doesn't have the ruthless demands to eliminate all knowledgeable individuals as they did back then.

Jimmy eliminated Azte's Barrio, allowing the southwestern supervisor to settle a new gang into their territory. With sufficient profit, they might not thank Jimmy, but at least they wouldn't target him—an elite capable of a solo massacre of over twenty individuals.

With one concern resolved, Jimmy finally allowed himself to relax a bit. Now there's only one BOSS left to complete this troublesome experience. For the sake of these few attacks, Jimmy had been running around killing for two or three months.

Actually, Jimmy was quite puzzled. Why did Greg choose now to cause him trouble? Tom's analysis wasn't wrong, but there's always a feeling that something was overlooked.

After changing clothes at home, Jimmy went to his bar. Speaking of which, although the bar was his, he hadn't visited much since purchasing it—right after he was attacked, and then he headed south.

It wasn't business hours at the bar yet, but Woody and the staff had already arrived, prepping the bar environment, restocking alcohol and ice behind the counter.

"Hey, Woody!" Jimmy greeted Woody and directly sat at the bar counter, "How's business lately?"

Woody was quite surprised to see Jimmy, "Boss, you finally came! Why haven't you been around for so long? If Isaac hadn't contacted you, I'd have thought you'd forgotten about this bar. Want a drink?"

Jimmy: "Just make me something random, let's see if your skills have improved."

Woody shrugged and took out a few unlabeled bottles from beneath the cabinet. Watching him mix the drink, Jimmy joked, "You're still like this; seems like there's no chance to steal some skills."

While mixing, Woody said, "If you want to drink at home, I can teach you some drinks that are suitable for home consumption. But if you want to flaunt outside, well, none."

Woody handed over a drink, "Rose Vampire's Kiss, just mixed recently, give it a try."

Jimmy took a small sip, "Pretty good, I'd bet the girls would like it. Forget it, just give me a Glenlivet Whisky. When does Isaac usually come by?"

Woody: "After 7 PM."

Jimmy nodded and casually chatted with Woody about the bar's clientele, whether his friends had visited, and the like. Two months offer plenty of topics for conversation.

After Isaac arrived, Jimmy briefly checked the accounts and left the office. Isaac was competent, with Woody keeping an eye out, and having hired a professional accountant, there shouldn't be major issues. It's fine this way; Jimmy wasn't expecting the bar to make him a lot of money; it served well as a place for gatherings and leisure.

The next day, Caitlin called Jimmy, asking him to meet at the Anti-Terrorism Bureau.

As soon as Jimmy entered Caitlin's office, she gestured for him to close the door: "Jimmy, what's your connection with the person you want to find?"

Jimmy: "What's wrong?"

Caitlin shook her head: "He's pretty ordinary himself, but among his connections, there are people of ours."

Jimmy shrugged: "Just give me the info, it won't implicate you."

Caitlin looked at Jimmy without speaking. Since Jimmy entered, she had been frowning, and seeing his attitude now, it seems this isn't going to end well.

Caitlin: "You know whose man he is, right?"

Jimmy nodded, Caitlin continued: "What if it involves him?"

Jimmy: "Do you have any ties with him?"

Caitlin: "No, no ties. He retired before I got promoted. But he was our senior, and I must warn you: people who reach that position often have many disciples. You're asking for trouble."

Jimmy frowned at Caitlin: "Did you alert them while checking the info?"

Caitlin shook her head, "I just researched the info myself. Started with our database, but later got intel from other channels. Jimmy, what exactly are you planning? Our collaboration just began; I don't want any mishaps now."

Jimmy: "I have my reasons; I have to investigate his info. Tell me, Sullivan's details, not involving the others."

Caitlin took out a sheet of paper from a drawer and handed it to Jimmy. It contained Sullivan's photo, work address, home address, phone details, etc.

Jimmy: "Did you locate his phone?"

Caitlin: "Located it. First ping showed he was in Washington, D.C., but this morning he's already in Richmond, Virginia."

Jimmy: "I'll take the info with me, thanks."

Caitlin: "Don't do anything we'll regret."

Jimmy nodded: "Don't worry, I'll be very careful."

Jimmy left Caitlin's office with the info. Caitlin previously didn't know who Sullivan was; only after looking into the info did she connect it to Greg, indicating she probably wasn't one of Greg's people, and the previous attack likely had nothing to do with her.

This Sullivan, after Rick's death, left D.C. Did he discover something? Or does he have his own business to attend to?

Jimmy's vacation is almost over; continuing the pursuit is quite impractical. Driving home, Jimmy pondered; maybe it's time to leverage external help to achieve his goal.
