North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 769: 467 Unmatched Stealth

Regret was useless now; Jimmy no longer had a way to go back and change his clothes, and searching the house for clothes wasn't practical. Setting aside whether there were any non-black dark clothes, even if there were, he wasn't keen on just grabbing something to wear. Who knew whose clothes they were? So, he had no choice but to keep going towards the manor in his black outfit.

Jimmy continuously used Heart Eye to observe his surroundings; the darkness was no issue for him at all.

Under normal circumstances, one would walk with night vision goggles in such dark environments, but in reality, Heart Eye was much more reliable than night vision goggles. He could clearly see all the small and large rocks and mounds on the ground, avoiding the situation where one might stagger unevenly through the wilderness at night.

Moreover, Heart Eye had a special function; he could check if there were any hidden sentries around. No sentry would hide in a space without any gaps. As long as there were gaps, inconsistencies would appear within the range of Heart Eye's observation, and naturally, he would be able to distinguish what it was.

Jimmy had asked Tony for night vision goggles only as a normal preparation, but he actually hadn't planned to use them—it was just for show.

Putting his phone inside his clothes to light up the screen, Jimmy checked the GPS coordinates to make sure he was headed in the right direction. He found a slightly higher bush, made sure there were no poisonous snakes, and sat down to rest.

He had already walked two kilometers; there was just a little over a kilometer to go to reach the place, and it was only a little past 8 PM. Although the manor was far from the city and there were no other buildings nearby, Jimmy still didn't want to act too early. Resting here for a bit, the last kilometer wouldn't take much time to walk. By killing time and recuperating a bit, he would be better able to handle things later.

After resting for a while, Jimmy continued forward. After walking some distance, he immediately lay down on the ground. Lights in the distance were gradually approaching; indeed, there was a road here on the satellite maps, but it should have been just a small path. In such a broken place, it was surprising that such a small path even had a vehicle, which astonished Jimmy.

When he was planning his route using the maps, he had determined this road to be safe because there were no buildings or small towns nearby, and it appeared to be a dirt road rather than a paved road.

Jimmy looked at his watch; he had rotated his wrist so the watch faced up, making it easier to observe the time while he held a gun and also avoiding any reflection. It was 9 PM now, still plenty of time; Jimmy decided to stay in place and observe for a while. Once the vehicle left, he moved behind some bushes by the road, waited for about fifteen minutes to be sure no second vehicle was coming, then got up and crossed the road, continuing towards the manor.

It seemed he had overthought things; this road probably wasn't frequently traveled, and he likely didn't have to worry about being ambushed from behind anymore.

He could now see the manor with his own eyes; though there were no lights around, the manor's house was still lit. It wasn't midnight yet; normal people wouldn't be resting at this time, so there were many lights in the manor.

Jimmy continued to approach the manor along the farmland. About a hundred meters away, he pulled out an MP7 and started moving quickly toward the wall. Without having the layout of surveillance on the wall, Jimmy had no choice but to bluff and hope that the cameras weren't in front of him.

There were no lights on the wall in front of Jimmy, and he didn't see anything resembling red dots, so he could at least be sure there was no infrared surveillance in front. Modern technology certainly offered various modes of surveillance, but civilian surveillance, especially night and infrared surveillance, generally required supplementary lighting, and those lights often showed signs like red or green dots.

When Jimmy reached the wall and could see the outline of the wall with Heart Eye, he carefully observed that there indeed was surveillance, but only at the corners of the walls. From the direction they faced, they mainly monitored the corner areas. Luckily, his current position was not under surveillance. That was fine; as long as they didn't detect him prematurely, everything was okay.

Jimmy stayed close to the wall, observing the inside. Perhaps it was due to negligence or a lack of arrangements, but Jimmy didn't see anyone patrolling the yard. He moved along the wall corner toward the back door, as the manor's security personnel were mostly resting there, a place where people were most abundant.

It was not yet time for rest; the people who had changed shifts were also in a few rooms near the back door, only a few lying down with others gathered around two tables, seemingly playing cards?

Jimmy scooped up a clump of dirt from the corner, threw it at the camera, making it turn in a different direction, away from the back door.

Jimmy then stepped back a bit, waiting to see if the people inside would notice the change in the camera's image. He had plenty of time, and to avoid leaving too many traces, it was best to stay out of the surveillance range. As for directly damaging the surveillance equipment, he decided against it for now; it could easily draw a crowd. It was safer to first attack a few isolated targets.

Soon, two people patrolling the backyard walked side by side toward the back door, opened it from the inside, and shone flashlights around, then towards the surveillance camera. One of them spoke into a walkie-talkie, "Okay, it's in Spanish—he couldn't understand at all."

Jimmy really felt a bit helpless. Once he got back, he definitely planned to enroll in a class to learn a foreign language, whether it was Spanish, Portuguese, or French. It would certainly be much better than his current situation.
