North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 752: 460 Difficult Decisions_2

Jimmy: "So, you guys are planning on catching a ride too?"

Caitlin didn't make up any excuses, she just nodded, "The previous manager can no longer handle things here, and I know the person who just came in."

The reason was sufficient, and Jimmy had some special thoughts. Caitlin had mentioned the previous manager had died a year ago and was in charge of the Southwest business; these clues immediately made Jimmy think of Tom, who had spent some time chasing the people who attacked their squad. It seemed that this manager who took over the Southwest after Tom was also involved and probably got eliminated by Tom all at once.

Jimmy: "What do you want to do?"

Caitlin: "Align with your objectives."

Jimmy shook his head, "I only plan to take down Tim and those connected to him."

Caitlin: "Not enough, we need to take down Barrio at least."

Jimmy shook his head, "Barrio isn't in the country, I've already investigated, he's in Mexico."

Caitlin: "Don't worry, I'll arrange the intelligence."

Jimmy: "I might not have that much time, you know, I still have an FBI identity."

Caitlin: "I told you, I will handle it, someone will assist you with the intelligence."

Jimmy: "Is this a mission?"

Caitlin shook her head, "No, it's just about earning someone's friendship."

Jimmy was a bit baffled by Caitlin's straightforwardness; it left him unsure whether to refuse. He really didn't know much about the internal situation in the CIA. Tom had even asked him if he wanted to leave the CIA now, but Caitlin still treated him as one of their own.

Even without mentioning someone's friendship, helping Caitlin with this matter could at least strengthen their relationship, which might be helpful to him in the future and could provide some conveniences. If he refused? She probably wouldn't turn hostile immediately, but then there wouldn't be any relationship afterward, and being in New York together, who knows when she might stab him in the back. It could be troublesome.

In human relationships, there are always various entanglements of interest; now it was just a question of whether he wanted this favor or not.

Jimmy's considerations were all about his relationship with Caitlin and the CIA, not at all considering whether he could take down Ruiz's boss, Barrio. With the CIA's detailed intelligence support, taking down a gang leader wouldn't be too difficult, but the impact of this deed was significant. The key was whether the aftermath could be managed cleanly without affecting himself.

Jimmy: "What can you provide?"

Caitlin: "Intelligence, transport, weapons, all the support you need."

Jimmy: "What about Tim?"

Caitlin: "That's not a problem."

Jimmy: "I'll think about it."

Caitlin nodded, and Jimmy took Tim's photo, got up, and left her room.

Jimmy left the hotel, drove back to the inn, and then had dinner at a nearby restaurant, casually ordering a bottle of wine to relax.

A bit conflicted, upon returning to his room in the inn, Jimmy took out his unregistered phone and sent a message to Tom, hoping he would see it and return a call in time.

At 2 a.m., Jimmy's phone rang, and he looked at it before answering.

Jimmy: "I have something I want to ask."

Tom: "Go ahead."

Jimmy: "I'm working in Albuquerque, and the company found me, hoping I could do something for them that requires crossing borders."

Tom: "Who is it?"

Jimmy: "Caitlin, she's probably helping others. I don't know if she's trustworthy, plus I've never done your kind of jobs."

Tom: "I roughly get it, who's the opponent?"

Jimmy: "The boss of Azte."

Tom: "If you don't want to quit, you could do it."

Jimmy: "What if I want to switch?"

Tom: "Go talk about it, it can also be a parting gift."

Jimmy: "Understood."

Tom: "If needed, call the number I gave you, he will help you."

Jimmy: "Okay, thanks."

A phone call, and his sleepiness had completely disappeared. Tom's meaning was clear, he could undertake this task, and the benefits should be decent; at the very least, he could earn Caitlin's friendship, and at best, it might serve as an opportunity to leave.

Though it was an unregistered phone, Jimmy still didn't dare say too much over the phone. Regarding the former manager's death, he hadn't confirmed it with Tom, just deduced logically that it must have been Tom's doing. As this current manager hadn't experienced anything unusual, it must be unrelated to Tom.

Jimmy got up, took a can of beer, took a sip, and sat on the sofa lost in thought.

The next day, Jimmy drove to the Sheraton Hotel and knocked on Caitlin's room door, where only one person was present, the other two weren't there.

Caitlin opened the door for Jimmy; the two sat down in the meeting area.

Jimmy: "Ms. Prado… Caitlin, I think we can work together." He changed the address at Caitlin's indication.

Caitlin slightly frowned: "You said, collaborate."

Jimmy nodded, "My collaboration with you."

Caitlin adjusted her sitting posture, leaned back on the sofa, crossed her legs, and placed her hands on her legs, "Continue."

Such a gesture wasn't a good sign, Jimmy: "I can undertake this task to prove my capabilities, of course, I also need to gain something."

Caitlin: "What do you need?"

Jimmy: "Retirement."

Caitlin's expression didn't change much as she looked at Jimmy and asked, "You want to quit?"

Jimmy nodded, "Just not take on tasks anymore, we could still collaborate in the future, I believe my other identity can accomplish more."
