The primary objective in Albuquerque had been accomplished, and now Jimmy was staying a few extra days just to tie up loose ends. He wandered around with a photograph in hand, continuing to create the illusion that he was still on the case.
After making a round in the vicinity, he asked around to see if there was any place with the initials KA, but unfortunately, there were no other leads, and he had no idea what KA actually stood for.
Nothing unexpected had happened in the past couple of days. It seemed the Cleaner, that old man, was quite professional after all. He had personally executed Josh who had planned to shoot Jimmy, and he hadn't come after him again. At least based on the current situation, it was largely safe to say he could be at ease.
In the end, he couldn't resist the need to finish things once and for all. Jimmy contacted Caitlin, had a brief chat, and after getting her permission, he gave her two phone numbers.
Today was the day to receive information. Jimmy waited outside a print shop, finding a café to await a call. He had already given the fax number to Caitlin in advance but had received no phone call even by the afternoon.
He spent almost the whole day anxiously in the café, unsure what the issue was with Caitlin's side, whether something had gone wrong with the Anti-Terrorism Bureau or if there was a problem with the information he was investigating.
It wasn't until after 3 p.m. that Jimmy finally received a call from Caitlin. However, it wasn't to pass on any documents via fax but rather to arrange a meeting.
Jimmy looked puzzled. He bid farewell to the waitress who had been chatting with him for the better part of the day and left the café, driving towards the Sheraton Hotel. Speaking of which, the CIA had deep pockets indeed, always choosing such expensive hotels to stay in, which Jimmy envied. Although he could afford it, he was generally out on duty and had to pick the nearest option, not having the luxury of choice.
This time, the meeting wasn't at a restaurant or bar but directly in Caitlin's hotel room. When Jimmy arrived outside Caitlin's suite, he used Heart Eye Observation first and saw that she was not alone but accompanied by a man and a woman. However, they weren't sitting on the sofa in the living room but in chairs at the side.
Seeing the three of them seated, with no sign of ambush and nothing unusual in the room, Jimmy finally knocked on the door. Someone got up to let him in.
Caitlin stood up, "Hi, Jimmy, take a seat."
Jimmy greeted her with a smile, "Ms. Prado, good afternoon. Why did you come personally?"
Caitlin said, "It's about the matter concerning you. One of the two numbers you gave, the cellphone number, has been flagged by the system. What's that about?"
Jimmy's smile slowly faded, and he frowned, "Someone from the company?"
Caitlin said, "It belongs to an informant of someone's, so I need to know what you're planning to do."
Jimmy said, "An informant? They must be important if you've come all the way here. Definitely not an ordinary person."
Caitlin nodded, "Yes, an informant of a former supervisor, who has been providing us with some essential leads for several years, though that supervisor died in an accident a year ago."
Jimmy pondered for a moment; Caitlin had already helped him unearth the motive behind the subsequent attacks. He looked at Caitlin, "Can we talk alone?"
Caitlin glanced at the other two individuals and nodded; the male and female colleagues got up, opened the door, and left the room.
Jimmy continued, "You're aware of the series of attacks. I've been through five assassination and ambush attempts in total. Last two or maybe three times, as you should know, were arranged by Rick from the National Research Analysis Group. But the first two attacks came from a border gang, Azte.
We've arrested the hitmen that attacked me, who confessed that the attack orders came from Timmy Spike, Azte's second in command. My visits to Texas and New Mexico were in pursuit of this Timmy Spike."
Caitlin countered, "But the cellphone number you gave me before isn't this Timmy Spike's."
Jimmy nodded, "That number you didn't get belongs to someone's white glove, also one of Azte's backers behind the scenes. My plan was to find Tim through this person."
Caitlin inquired, "It's been a few days, have you found this person already?"
Jimmy nodded, and Caitlin continued, "The cellphone number you gave corresponds to an informant named Timmy Spike from Los Angeles, California, indeed associated with Azte. So now it seems that this Timmy Spike is likely the same Tim.
His cellphone is currently overlapping with an unregistered number, having moved from the last location in Hobbs to Albuquerque."
Jimmy nodded, "Is there a specific location? And a photo?"
Caitlin waved her hand, "Hold on, first I need to be sure about one thing. To what extent are you planning to go?"
Jimmy looked at Caitlin, "Is Azte backed by the company?"
Caitlin replied, "They used to be, but there's no connection anymore."
Jimmy stated, "There have already been two attacks. I can't always be on guard against their sneak attacks. So, if you don't mind, I'd like to eliminate them completely."
Caitlin nodded, "Just like I thought. Can you handle it alone?"
Jimmy just smiled, without answering.
Caitlin knew well of Jimmy's combat capabilities, and she was not surprised. She picked up a bag from beside the couch and took out a printed document, "This is Timmy Spike."
