North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 675: 429 It was them!_3

Arriving at Carlos Cardona's address, which was an apartment building, Jimmy and Mahong got out of the car. Jimmy took the lead, Mahong was in the middle, and Philicia followed last. The trio formed a tactical formation, reassuring anyone they encountered in the building as they made their way up to the fifth floor, to Carlos's door.

Jimmy had used "Heart Eye" to see that there were two people in the room, one presumably a woman, sitting on the living room sofa, likely watching TV, and another in the bedroom, lying on the bed.

"Knock, knock," "FBI, open up," Jimmy said, standing by the door, knocking with his fist.

Someone inside approached the door and opened it a slight crack. The woman peeked out, and Jimmy lifted the badge hanging around his neck, "FBI, is Carlos Cardona inside?"

Seeing that Jimmy and the others were armed, the woman screamed and backed away. Without waiting any longer and sure that she'd stepped away from the door, Jimmy raised his foot and kicked it open.

"Carlos!" Jimmy headed to the bedroom, Mahong to the dining area, and Philicia went up to the woman on the sofa to watch and reassure her.

"Carlos, don't move!" Jimmy aimed directly at the man on the bed.

"Who are you?" Carlos, with a gun pointed at him by Jimmy, didn't dare move; he just looked up at Jimmy and asked.

Jimmy didn't respond to him, "Over here." Mahong came from behind, and the two men approached and grabbed Carlos's arms, pulling him up; Jimmy took out zip ties from his pocket and fastened his hands behind his back.

"Carlos, where's your motorcycle?" Jimmy put away his gun and directly addressed the key question.

Mahong interrupted Jimmy, "Jimmy, we'll ask him back at the office. Let's go."

Hearing that they were taking him away, Carlos suddenly began to struggle violently, but Mahong didn't pamper him and pressed him against the head of the bed, "Don't move. Take him away."

Though it wasn't especially smooth, Carlos was still taken back to the FBI office. Mahong had already told Jimmy that he would handle the interrogation to avoid Jimmy getting too emotional.

Carlos was led into a holding room, while Jimmy stood outside, listening to the interrogation unfolding. Mahong was tough, directly defining the previous attack under the guise of a terrorist act, emphasizing its severity, and then repeatedly questioned Carlos about his personal details and his motorcycle.

Mahong was indeed a bit crafty; he had understood that it was Azte's men who had attacked Jimmy, probably in retaliation for a previous operation. But still, he proceeded with the initial assumption, considering the attack as a vengeful act orchestrated by Nuer, the mastermind behind the bombing case, thus transforming a gang vendetta into a continuation of a terrorist attack.

Carlos was merely a gang member, and as a figure in the underworld, they were not foolish; they understood the difference between a criminal offense and a terrorist attack. Hence, after initially resisting for a while, Carlos gave up and began to answer Mahong's questions.

The result of repetitive questioning meant that any inconsistencies in Carlos's answers were cross-checked multiple times to ensure they got the information they were after.

Mahong and Philicia left the interrogation room: "It should be fine now, Trinidad's people probably didn't participate in the specific action, but they did provide transportation. The motorcycle was placed in that parking lot as per someone's request; he didn't know the location or identity of that group of people. I think if we want to continue the investigation, we may need to bring back their boss, Serra."

Jimmy shook his head, "Trinidad's gang should be under Ruiz's surveillance; I'll go ask him first."

Mahong nodded, and they returned to the office. Jimmy went straight to Ruiz's area, but Ruiz was not in his office. Jimmy took out his phone and dialed Ruiz's mobile; he didn't answer either.

This was strange; Ruiz was always fast to answer calls. Was he involved in an operation?
